    It's the Revenge of the Return of the Best of the Best BBQ Show c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-ountdown! We're halfway through the Best of the Best BBQ Show rundown, where Meat Man Yoni and Meat Man Stover take you through the best moments in 2017 from our Austin-based food podcast.
    Last time we listened to clips about Terry Black's Barbecue (a favorite lunch spot of the Meat Men), a fast food BBQ competition, including Arby's smoked brisket sandwich, the Tex-Mex BBQ of Valentina's, and the traditional Texas BBQ flavor explosions of Truth BBQ.
    In this episode you'll hear more food talk, studio hi-jinx and behind-the-scenes Meat Man stories. Here are the places we discuss:
    * Horn BBQ: Pitmaster Matt Horn came all the way from Oakland, California, to visit Austin and tour the BBQ scene. He's a talented, fun guy who fit in well in the Meat Man studio.
    * Miller's Smokehouse Pop-up: In this clip, the Meat Men talk about their stop by to Miller's pop-up in Austin, their amazing desserts by Mama Miller and all you wanted to know about gas station flavored water.
    * Southside Market: Yoni and Stover got a behind-the-scenes tour to see how the sausage was made at the oldest BBQ joint in Texas. We also sat down for a huge meat feast with staff.
    * Texas Ranch BBQ: We heard great things about Texas Ranch BBQ (formerly called 12 Bones) and we were not disappointed. Stover raves about the tremendous pork ribs being cooked up by Marco Oglesby.
    * LeRoy and Lewis: We round out the countdown by looking back at our stop at one of the more adventurous BBQ places we've tried. Evan LeRoy is a real Meat Man.

    It's the Return of the Best of the Best BBQ Show c-c-c-c-c-ountdown! Meat Man Yoni and Meat Man Stover continue their rundown of the best moments from 2017 of the Best BBQ podcast.

    * Terry Black's Barbecue: One of Stover and Yoni's favorite lunch-time haunts, Terry Black's is bringing traditional Texas barbecue to the middle of Austin.
    * Fast Food BBQ: In a competition weeks in the making, Stover persuades Yoni to try Arby's brisket, as well as three other "fast" places serving smoked meat. The Meat Men do a blind taste test to determine their favorite.
    * Valentina's Tex Mex Barbecue: The Meat Men rave over the Tex-Mex/BBQ fusion of Valentina's, which includes the Real Deal Holyfield brisket breakfast taco.
    * Truth BBQ: This Brenham, Texas, BBQ oasis is moving toward big things, including opening another, much-anticipated, location in Houston.
    * Frankling BBQ Reopens and the Meat Men make the News: Your embedded hosts forced themselves up in the middle of the night to plop their butts down at the front of Franklin BBQ in Austin to celebrate the reopening after they were closed from a fire. Along the way they popped up numerous times on TV.

    It's that time of year! Best of the Best BBQ Show is here. Meat Men Yoni and Stover begin their c-c-c-c-countdown of the best moments from the first year of the Best BQQ podcast.     We have a special in-studio guest this week: Burt from Los Angeles' much-loved Trudy's Underground Barbecue. Burt visited Central Texas with his BBQ posse in tow for a blitz of smoked meat and fun in Austin.
    Yoni, Stover, Burt and friends went to Truth BBQ in Brenham, Texas, to share a huge platter of brisket, beef rib, pork ribs, BBQ sides and Truth's amazing cake. After our meal we headed to the studio to talk about barbecue tourism, the best BBQ (and food), making Texas-style BBQ in Southern California and more fun conversations. Shoutout to the Meat Men we discuss on this episode.

    The Meat Men Yoni and Stover tested their meaty might by undertaking a Smoked Meat Gauntlet in the BBQ capital of Texas, Lockhart. Your intrepid hosts visited three of the country's best, and legendary, Texas BBQ joints: Black's Barbecue, Kreutz Market and Smitty's Market. Together, these places have more than a hundred years of history serving smoked meats and other delicious food to those in Central Texas and all over the world.
    Listen as we discuss the best meats to taste in Lockhart, getting lost in small town Texas, eating way too much, and lots of Texas and BBQ history. We also ask the Meat Man Army to write us some Meat Man songs to play on the show and give lots of fan shoutouts.

We got to the Austin, Texas, BBQ joint at 3:30 a.m. so we could beat the rush for the anticipated return of one of the best barbecue places in the world.

  • BBQ 025: The famous Franklin BBQ celebrates its return
    We are the champions! Of the line at the reopening celebration for the famous Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Texas. Yoni and Stover, the hosts of the Best BBQ podcast, got their BBQ butts up at 3 a.m. to wait by the door for the much-anticipated reopening of Franklin BBQ which sadly saw its smokeroom destroyed this summer by a fire.
    Aaron Franklin's great BBQ place is open now and the Meat Men wanted to be there to share some love from the BBQ family. In this episode, Yoni and Stover listen to their numerous appearances on the Texas TV news, which helpfully broadcast our smoked meat messages to morning news viewers, who also got an eyeful of our Meat Man T-shirts.
    Speaking of BBQ shirts, in this episode we give out another Ray's BBQ (a friend of the show from the Los Angeles BBQ scene) to a fan of Best BBQ.   • BBQ 024: Texas Barbeque All-Stars Pitmaster Roundtable

    You asked for it, you got it! Thanks for requesting a longer episode Meat Men. In this studio roundtable, we bring three masters of the smoked meat craft into the Meat Man studios to discuss Texas barbecue, cooking techniques, dispatching feral hogs, music, food tips and more.

    Along with your Meat Men hosts Yoni and Stover, were Brendan Lamb (from La Barbecue), Clay Cowgill (from Snow's BBQ) and Dylan Taylor (from Truth Barbecue). They were a lot of fun to have in our Austin studio. When you hear the audio clip of hogs exploding, you'll have the same reaction we all did. It gets crazy. Kelis also makes a "cameo."
