This week, Jim and Chad return with Philadelphia clowns Betty Smithsonian and Sarah Knittel! Both Betty and Sarah are former students of Chad’s and have gone on to become two of the architects of the city’s contemporary clown scene. After a bit of a clownish start, the four get down to business and discuss their conversions to clown, clown’s relationship to long form improv, creating work in places new to clown and how to build community by embracing all kinds of artists. PLUS - Chad breaks down one of his bits, moment by moment, to illustrate the psychology that lies beneath the silliness. A really fun listen!
