Though it was originally introduced in the early 1900s, the .35 Remington remains a solid big game hunting cartridge under the right conditions. However, there aren't many choices for factory loaded .35 Remington ammo these days.
Fortunately, the different varieties of factory loaded .35 Remington ammo currently available from Federal, Hornady, Remington, and Winchester are all designed for hunting big game. So, while there aren't many loads to choose from, you still have really good odds of finding some rifle ammo that will work for you. That's what we're going to discuss in today's episode.

Today we're going to discuss a pretty old cartridge that's still quite capable under certain conditions: the 35 Remington. It's still hanging around, but I'd say that it's one of the most under-rated brush cartridges in North America today.
Well, we're going to discuss why this is the case today.

Today I wanted to take a few minutes to give you a brief update on what my hunting season will look like this year. Now, we're still in the dog days of summer down in Texas, but I've gotten all the draw results back from every state I put in for this year, so my hunting schedule for this fall and winter is pretty well set and I've been starting more detailed preparations for hunting season.
Here are the details of my coues deer hunt in Arizona, mule deer hunt in New Mexico, and pronghorn hunts in Colorado and New Mexico.

In this episode, we'll be talking about a subject that's really important for all hunters, but doesn't always get the attention it deserves: taking care of wild game meat.
With that in mind, today we're joined by Mark Norquist from The Modern Carnivore. He'll give us an overview of some easy steps that hunters can take to take care of the meat from wild game at the site of the kill, how to transport it back home, and a few easy to make (but still delicious) wild game recipes that will all help you more fully enjoy that aspect of the hunt.

Due to advances in powder and bullet technology, ammo for the .45-70 Government is now even more effective for hunting than it ever has been.
Today, I'm going to talk about a couple of different ammunition options from Hornady, Buffalo Bore, Barnes, and Remington for the 45-70 that are great for hunting a variety of big game like deer, bear, and moose.

Today I'll be discussing a cartridge that, while extremely popular in certain circles, does not get a lot of mainstream attention these days: .45-70 Government. So, while the .45-70 is as American as apple pie and other cartridges like the .30-30 Winchester, the .30-06 Springfield, and the .45 Colt, only a relatively small percentage of dedicated hunters and shooters use it these days.
That's really too bad because the .45-70 has a very interesting history and remains a very capable big game hunting cartridge. Today, we're going to discuss why this is the case.

Many hunters do the vast majority of their shooting from a bench rest, but this is not the best way to practice marksmanship under typical hunting conditions. Now I don't know about you, but I've never taken a shot at a deer, or any other big game species for that matter, from a bench rest.
It's very important that hunters learn to shoot from positions they are more likely to use when hunting. So in this episode, I'm going to describe what are (in my experience) the 5 best shooting positions for hunters and describe the pros and cons of each one.

In this episode, we'll be talking about a subject that's really important for all hunters, but usually doesn't get the attention it deserves: physical fitness. Regardless of the hunt, you'll probably enjoy the experience a whole lot more and improve your odds of success if you're in better physical shape.
With all that in mind, today we're joined by Tim Kjellesvik from The Thinking Woodsman. He'll give us an overview of some easy steps that hunters can take to improve their overall hunting fitness that will provide tangible results afield.
