For fans of a certain age, Wednesday's news that the Bills cut three staples of their starting lineup and locker room—CB Tre'Davious White, S Jordan Poyer, and C Mitch Morse—was eerily similar to Black Thursday, when, on Feb. 10, 2000, Buffalo cut future Pro Football Hall of Famers DE Bruce Smith, RB Thurman Thomas, and WR Andre Reed. In both cases, the moves were made to help Buffalo become cap-compliant, as current GM Brandon Beane faced a cap deficit of over $40 million before making this year's roster cuts to free up salary space.
