I am privileged to call Jared Pescud a friend.

A man who was no more than a familiar face only months ago invited me to sit amongst a group of blokes at a dinner table one evening. Great yarns turned into deep conversation where we shared a portion of our life story's & I left that evening knowing full well that I would go on to spend time with Jared as a new mate.

After a few more catch-ups our relationship had grown stronger. Strong enough for Jared to share with me what he doesn't always preach to the world. He spoke of his battles with clinical depression & bipolar. Honestly, it hit me for a six. One of the most outgoing & happy humans I know sharing that he has struggled through some emotionally testing times & at one stage wanted to take his own life.

I asked Jared to share this story for two reasons:-

1. This can happen to anyone at any stage in life.

2. Jared speaks highly of the health professionals who saved his life & the importance of trusting in those that are qualified to handle the emotional minefield the mind can create when suffering from mental health struggles.

He kindly accepted my invitation to share his journey & whilst I sit here & write this now I am proud of my friend as I know his message will be one of great positivity for so many.
