  • Mashaba goes after Majozi and Gwamanda
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba is ready to take legal action over social media posts by political economist Phumlani M Majozi and some other commentators. In this interview with BizNews, he says: “…we will honestly get some of the best lawyers to put them in front of the nation to really give us evidence of the nonsense they are promoting of us as black people to really be corrupt, that we don't have values of hard work.” Mashaba’s party is is also getting ready to bring a motion to get rid of former Johannesburg Mayor turned MMC Kabelo Gwamanda who is currently on special leave following his arrest over allegations of fraud. “I fail to understand why the ANC is actually failing to deal with this Gwamanda, the former mayor. Now they put him as the MMC, someone who actually cheated the poor black people in Soweto.” Furthermore, he says ActionSA is putting pressure on the ANC government to help turn around Johannesburg. He also gives an update on the governance issues in Tshwane where his party now holds the mayoral position. And he hails the return to ActionSA of dozens of formerly disgruntled activists in preparation for the 2026 municipal elections.

  • Anonymous whistleblower exposes Banxso clone scam preying on SA investors
An anonymous whistleblower has come forward with troubling details about Banxso, an online investment platform accused of deceptive practices and linked to deepfake ads featuring well-known personalities like Johann Rupert and Hashim Amla. The whistleblower, a senior figure in the financial sector, described a suspicious encounter with Afrimarket, a platform with striking similarities to Banxso, including an alleged shared chief operating officer. After responding to a Facebook ad, he was pressured to invest without transparency around risk profiling or the expertise of his assigned "advisor." His findings raise concerns that Afrimarket could be a rebranded clone of Banxso, targeting South Africans with aggressive sales tactics to exploit unsuspecting investors.

  • Tembisa school boosts safety and attendance by providing free transport for pupils – Mmatsie Motimele
In South Africa, more than 8 million of our 12.5 million school pupils walk to school as their families cannot afford private transportation. The danger some of them face has been highlighted by a recent story of the pupils of a remote village of eNkovukeni in far northern KwaZulu-Natal who have to cross a lake with hippos to get to the Nhlange Secondary School in Manguzi. A non-profit organisation, The Love Trust, which runs the Nokuphila School in Tembisa, has devised a plan to provide safe and dependable transport to its pupils. They invite businesses to sponsor a seat through the Nokuphila Transport Programme. Mmatsie Motimele, a fundraiser for The Love Trust, told BizNews in an interview that a key contributor to the school's high attendance record is their commitment to providing safe and dependable transport to their pupils. Seats can be sponsored on the GivenGain website. The annual cost per child is R8,941.
