BJ & Bill The Podcast

It sounds like something from a bad old TV sitcom, but it’s this weeks up-to-the-minute show: BJ and Bill, mostly complaining about the “joys“ of getting old.

For Bill, it’s a trip to the eye doctor and a possible surgical procedure coming up. For BJ it’s an update on his sleep doctor Status.

Face it, it sucks to get old, and the boys have a front row seat to all of it this week.

In addition, however, there is some fun and interesting stuff on sports, including the Masters golf tournament, and the upcoming NBA playoffs.

We try to keep it fun, no matter what! Tune in this week, and see if we succeeded.

This week, a special show with a special guest! First, BJ and Bill take a few minues to celebrate the University of Florida Gators winning the "Natty..." The National Championship in the Men's Final Four basketball finals. Congrats, Gator Nation!

Then, a special guest: We've talked about BJ finally (Finally!) getting around to writing the book of the story of his life, and this week, we have the "ghost writer" on who's helping him do just that! Our guest is Christina Metcalf, who BJ met through connections with his "Gift of Life" podcast. The book is well underway, and it's super-intereesting to talk to Christina abou the interviewing and writing process. It also leads to more great stories...

This week, Bill gives the details on his big move ... all the way across town in Gainesville! Yeah, not a big deal, but it's a new chapter of life, and a little bit of excitement regardless.

As for BJ, there's also some home changes... more like remodeling or uipgrading his current digs. Again, just more good stories, and it leads to a good discussion with one of those "money no object" ideas... where would you live, if you didn't have to worry about "small stuff" like money, family ties, work, etc. How does Key West sound?

Sadly, there's also some talk about the loss of another former radio personality from SW Florida. Seems like it's getting to be a regular story for BJ and Bill ... not just losing people from old "radio days," but family and friends from all walks of life.

Lots going on in the lives of our boys BJ and Bill this week, and we're not just talking about March Madness.

BJ is having some home remodeling done this week, so the show is being recorded on a different day than usual... Not that it matters to the listeners, but there are some home and life updates for BJ.

As you know, BJ is getting help in finally writing a book about his "interesting" life! We get a little update on that, and we're hoping to get the "ghost writer" on the show soon, too

Bill also has some big changes in the works.. he's moving - across town - in Gainesville, were he lives. Scratching a little of that "wanderlust" itch he's talked about.

It's been a while since we've had a "medical show," of the podcast, no? Well, there's no more need to wait, BJ has (yet another), new fun story of his ongoing medical treatment "journey." While it's all safe for any audience, it's mostly us "senior citizens" that will connect with everything that's going on... and yes, there's plenty of good humor in it all, as well.

Other items covered: The upcoming NBA playoffs, and also the upcoming WNBA season. How will the ladies do, now that all the hype over some huge superstar rookies has cooled a bit?

This week... it seems BJ has been using his chat and interview sessions with the writer of his upcoming book as "therapy sessions." It's actually a very interesting talk about more (previously unknown) parts of BJ's history and super-interesting story, from childhood medical issues, familiy support and more.

As always (it seems like always, anyway), there's some radio history... and lots more. Bill remains over-the-moon happy about his Cleveland Cavaliers hoops team, heading into NBA Playoff time. After being a Browns football fan, this is a very, VERY welcome upgrade.

Yikes... two old men talking about getting old... again! Funny, but true: As we all get "up there" in age, isn't that the main topic of conversation, just about everywhere? Well, this week the boys have some of that, but thankfully, it's not the entire show. How fun woudl that be?

There's some sport talk, too, but a lot of it has to do with cable TV and how to get the best sports channels without paying too. Much. It's almost time for Bill's streaming-TV "summer break," where he puts his expensive streaming service on hold, at least until football season starts up again in the fall.

After all, summer is coming, and there should be better things to do that just watch TV, right? Righs??! Let's hope so...

Lots and lots of memories on this episode of the show. BJ and Bill, remembering tiems before they worked together in SW Florida, and times since, as well.

There's also a lot of talk about how - as they say - the "only thing that stays the same is change." In other words, botht the boys talk about how when they visit familiar old places (like SW Florida) everything is new, changed or updated. Have you seen that where you live, too? Maybe it's something that happens in fast-growing Florida more than elsewhere.

Football season is over... but NASCAR season is revving up! And while this isn't a sport-related podcast, BJ and Bill are big sports fans. Well, BJ is definitely the NASCAR guy, so there's some talk of that, for sure.

In addition, there's talk of an "experience" that was very popular "back in the day" of BJ and Bill's work on the radio in SW Florida. We're talking the late-night, local drinking establishment and their wet t-shirt contests! Is that even still a thing? Or has it gone the way of the dinorsaur, never to be seen again? Maybe the boys are just too old to have any recent experience with that... probably a good thing! Still, the memories are great, as always...

This episode drops the week after that "Big Game" in the football world, so there's plenty of sports to talk about this week for the boys. Stil, it's not just football... BJ is looking forward to his favorite - NASCAR season, too.

Along with that, even more "previously undisclosed" radio career memories. Who knew there was so much to remember and talk about?

Also, BJ updates us on the exciting news just released in the past few weeks, that he's working on a book about his life... And yes, he's getting plenty of help from a "ghost writer," so we're sure things will work out nicely...
