Blake Lawrie is one of the NRL’s best up & coming hard men. The St George Illawarra dragons front rower come from humble beginnings in the Illawarra region. His rise to the top division isn’t a story of luck & good fortune, it’s a product of hard work & adversity overcome on numerous occasions.       

Like many successful human beings, there’s a story below the surface that makes the man affectionately known as ‘Blocka’ the man he is on & off the field.       

At the age of 11 Blake lost his mum to breast cancer before he & his younger siblings moved their lives into their grandparents home. It’s undoubtedly what makes Lawrie the devoted family man he is & the footballer that his team mates have so passionately spoken about ‘wanting to be beside in the trenches’.      

It was an honour to hear Blake’s story, his ambitions for the years to come & share banter with my co-host & our great mate Zac Lomax.
