Shannon Kay continues the story of her 30 year marriage to a husband who was in bondage to porn and sex addiction, and how porn opened the door to massage parlors and strip clubs.
Shannon shared that from her perspective pastors aren’t trained to help people in these areas and are making the situation worse. She also shared a story of when she was at church event and the women were broken up to share at tables. After Shannon shared her struggles with sexual sin in her marriage, every woman around the table shared they had the same issues with their husband.
This should be another warning of how prevalent sexual sin has become in the church and the urgent need to talk openly about these issues from the pulpit.
Shannon Kay married her high school sweetheart while they were still teenagers. What began as an admission by her then fiancée that “I struggle with porn” became a full-fledged sex addiction that impacted their entire 30 years of marriage, their children, extended family and friendships. In this first of two broadcasts, Shannon begins her story with a pastor telling them during premarital counseling that “once they had sex it would resolve his lust problem”. She heard comments from other friends and pastors that “it’s normal for all men to have issues with porn.”
In this second of two broadcasts, TJ, a Phoenix native, continues the story of his journey to healing from physical and sexual abuse.TJ grew up with an alcoholic father who beat his mother, a mother who was a drug dealer, and, TJ was molested as a youth. In this first of two shows, Linda shares the first part of their story, including the time that Scott spent in a psychiatric ward and the results of the medication cocktails the doctors were prescribing him. Suicide is rampant and growing; it is an issue that must be openly discussed in the church to offer hope to those who are hurting.
In this second of 2 broadcasts, Joel Barnes, in his twenties, discusses why he sees youth leaving the church. Joel lists the following as the top 3 reasons that youth are walking away:
