  • Blood Red: Man City draw underlines Liverpool's Wijnaldum reliance as Firmino and Jota examined
After Liverpool drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, how should Jurgen Klopp reflect on the game? Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson both impressed in the centre of the park in a midfield two, as Liverpool went with the bold front four of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. But how should each of their performances be analysed? Wijnaldum's contract is still to be renewed and he looks set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the year, but this was yet another showing that proved his class. Firmino, too, who has been criticised in some quarters of late, looked excellent, particularly out of possession and in the first 45 minutes, but he tired second half and was replaced by the resurgent Xherdan Shaqiri. Join Guy Clarke, Ian Doyle, Paul Gorst and Matt Addison as they breakdown the result and performance and what it all means heading into the last international break of 2020. Enjoy!

  • Post-Game: Man City 1-1 Liverpool | Salah slots from the spot as Reds take a point but count the cost of Trent's injury
Liverpool came away from the Etihad with a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, although they finished the game without Trent Alexander-Arnold who was forced off injured. Mohamed Salah's 10th goal of the season had given the Reds a 1-0 lead before Gabriel Jesus equalised. Kevin De Bruyne then missed a penalty to give City the lead. Join Guy Clarke as we hear from Jurgen Klopp's post-match press conference, the Liverpool ECHO's chief LFC writer Ian Doyle, plus plenty of fan reaction from the Blood Red podcast Facebook group as well as regular contributors Ross Strachan, Owen Thomas, Matt Whitty, Steve Dawson, Hannah Pinnock, Alex Watt and Mark Baker. • Poetry in Motion: Jota, Shaqiri, Jones and Liverpool’s incredible squad depth | And fancy adding Haaland to the mix?
It has been a brilliant week for Liverpool so far after they went to Atalanta and won 5-0 thanks to a Diogo Jota hat-trick – but Jurgen Klopp would like it to get even better with a victory against Manchester City in the Premier League tomorrow. To talk about everything LFC, Neil Fitzmaurice is joined by Dan Kay and Matt Addison for the latest Poetry in Motion podcast – starting with the proof that the Reds' squad depth has come a long way since last season in the form of Jota, Rhys Williams, the rejuvenated Xherdan Shaqiri and rising star Curtis Jones. Then there is a discussion about the perfection of the Atalanta win, why it was the ideal Man City preparation, and what it means for the team-sheet at the Etihad Stadium. Finally, there is a chat about Erling Haaland and the rumours linking him with a transfer move to Anfield, plus the reversal on the PPV decision, with those matches not selected for Sky Sports or BT Sport in the UK now set to be shown free of charge until the New Year. Enjoy!

  • Press Conference: Jurgen Klopp confirms Thiago will miss Sunday’s massive match at Manchester City
Jurgen Klopp confirmed Thiago will not be back for Sunday’s massive Premier League match at Manchester City at his final pre-match press conference at Melwood. Klopp, who will soon move his first-team squad and coaching staff to the club’s new training ground in Kirkby, did not put a timescale on the Spanish midfielder’s return. But he did reveal Thiago will not be ready for the trip to City, which the Liverpool boss called the ‘most difficult game in world football’. In a wide-ranging press conference, Klopp also spoke about the impact of Diogo Jota, the form of Joe Gomez since Virgil van Dijk’s injury, how many teams will battle for the title Liverpool are defending, why Roberto Firmino remains such a crucial player, and his thoughts on leaving Melwood. Enjoy.

  • The Liverpool.com podcast: Diogo Jota gives Liverpool ‘dream scenario’ that Pep Guardiola and Man City can’t predict
Diogo Jota has handed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a significant team selection dilemma heading into Sunday’s huge Premier League clash at Manchester City.
Jota scored a hat-trick in the Champions League in midweek and there are calls for the Portuguese to start at the Etihad in place of Roberto Firmino.
So this week’s Liverpool.com podcast, guest-hosted by Matt Addison and featuring regulars Joel Rabinowitz and Ollie Connelly, answers that question.
Jota’s wasn’t the only brilliant performance in the 5-0 win at Atalanta with the panel also assessing superb showings from Rhys Williams, Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones, as well as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who partnered the man-of-the-moment in attack.
Should Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara (if fit) return against Manchester City? Joel and Ollie have their say while also paying tribute to Gini Wijnaldum and how he’s going about his business at a time when his future at Anfield appears uncertain.

On today’s Morning Bulletin podcast, Matt Addison joins Paul Wheelock to talk about a thinly-veiled dig by Jose Mourinho to Liverpool, among others; a big day, for contrasting reasons, for former Reds centre-backs Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel; the latest Schalke defender to being linked to a move to Anfield; and an update on the futures of David Alaba and Erling Haaland, two more players who have been speculated as potential Jurgen Klopp transfer targets.

  • Analysing Anfield: Diogo Jota is becoming a problem for Jurgen Klopp – and proving Liverpool made the right move with Timo Werner
Man-of-the-moment Diogo Jota is one of the big talking points of the Analysing Anfield podcast after his superb hat-trick for Liverpool in their 5-0 Champions League win at Atalanta. But before Josh Williams and David Hughes get stuck into that, they start by examining the 2-1 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League at Anfield, which proved to be another game when Liverpool conceded first. Why is that? And why could the defending champions count themselves ‘unlucky’? Talk then turns to the outstanding win over Atalanta with particular focus on Jota’s performance as the Reds’ central striker in place of Roberto Firmino. A number of fans wanted to sign Timo Werner in the summer but our hosts wonder whether Liverpool have got the better deal by buying the Wolves man instead. And the final section of the podcast focuses on Sunday’s huge match at Manchester City, whose underlying statistics suggest they aren’t quite the same attacking threat they once were.
