During the 1970's Bundy murdered 36 girls and women, brutally killing and raping his victims while maintaining his clean cut, all-American outward face to the rest of the world. He would stop at nothing to get his victims to trust him enough to get into his car, from impersonating the police to pretending to be disabled.

Even when he was captured he broke out of jail not once but twice, but justice eventually caught up with him when after years on death row, he finally was executed by way of the electric chair.

When guests staying at the Cecil hotel in downtown Los Angeles started complaining that the water in their bathrooms had low pressure and had started to have a nasty taste, the hotel maintenance worker headed up to the rooftop water tank to complete his inspection. Tragically he found the body of 21 year old Elisa Lam, the young tourist who had been missing for almost three weeks. Due to CCTV footage that had been release by the LAPD her disappearance was already worldwide news and what followed was a huge amount of public interest and many internet sleuths trying to figure out exactly what happened to Elisa.

Five years after 16-year-old Heather West went missing, a chance remark by one of her younger siblings would begin a chain of events that would uncover one of the most famous serial crimes in the world, the case of Fred and Rose West.

When social services heard the family joke about Heather being buried under the patio, alarm bells went off which after investigation revealed that there had been no trace of Heather West for five years since she had apparently taken a job at a holiday camp back in 1987.

This week's episode needs no introduction, we are covering the case of the Milwaukee cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer.

Between 1978 and 1991 Dahmer claimed the lives of 17 boys and men. His motive was to stop the victims from leaving him and to have absolute control over their bodies. Chillingly, he would keep their body parts in the freezer and sometimes eat them. He would document his crimes by taking Polaroids and by bleaching and keeping the skulls.

His eventual capture in 1991 and revelations about his gruesome crimes would lead to him quickly becoming infamous and he went on to do some interviews while in prison, claiming that there was nothing that would have stopped him, the compulsion was too strong.

We take a look at his childhood and family background to see if there were any indications that this normal boy from an ordinary American family would become one of the most notorious serial killers of all time.
