On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck and Mark are joined by Lacy Lee Johnson. Lacy is running for the United States Senate in

Minnesota’s fifth congressional district, which is currently being helped by Democrat Ilhan Omar. 

Chuck and Mark kick off the interview by asking more about Lacy’s upbringing and what obstacles he’s faced being an African American Republican. Lacy shares how he has been able to have positive conversations and even received support from lifelong Democrats. 

They continue their conversation by hearing Lacy’s plans if he is able to win the seat. He explains that he wants to focus on the issues his district faces and how he hopes to create a model for the rest of the nation. Chuck and Mark also hear about Lacy’s views on major issues that are at the front of the political debate today.  

More about Lacy Lee Johnson: 

Lacy Lee Johnson has been a resident of North Minneapolis for over 40 years. He believes the community and its people are among the best in Minnesota. 

He was born in Natchez, MS where his mom, dad, and elders raised him, his six sisters and three brothers. Though times were economically challenging, Lacy had “a perfect childhood” and “the best public-school education.” 

Lacy has been married to his wife, Betty, for 30 years with whom they raised two sons, Darien and Adrian. 

After studies in pre-med, math, and English at the University of Minnesota, he began an over 40-year career in information technology, systems development, and engineering as a technical writer at Hennepin County MN. Lacy subsequently enrolled at Brown Institute and completed studies in Computer Programming. 

Lacy has worked for Control Data, General Electric, Bell Atlantic, and Northwest Airlines in engineering, project management, and management building computer systems for fighter jets, torpedoes, air reconnaissance systems, guided missiles, and airport kiosks. He also worked as an IT solutions consultant for Xcel Energy. 

Lacy has served as founder, partner, and CEO of three small businesses dedicated to the economic development, technology training, and education within inner city communities: Uniworld Business Systems, UrbanEd LLC, and currently Young Entrepreneurs of America (YEA!). 

Lacy also wrote, produced, and hosted a weekly radio show, “The Flipside,” which provided news, entertainment, and commentary on current events. 

Lacy served as start-up coordinator and interim director of New Salem Elementary Charter School dedicated to closing the so-called

achievement gap in education. He relied on the experience in the Natchez school system to ensure love, high expectations, and ultimately the successful education of economically challenged children of color. 

As program director at Hospitality House Youth Directions, Lacy oversaw its after school programs for inner city youth and its outreach programs for gang members. 

He has also served as a trustee of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church and as a volunteer speaker for Amicus prison outreach program. 

He is currently Polemarch (i.e., president) of the Bloomington-Richfield Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck and Mark are joined by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Joe is running to become the Sheriff of Maricopa County, which is a seat that he had previously held for 24 years. 

Chuck and Mark find out more about Sheriff Joe’s campaign and why he has decided to run again. Sheriff Joe explains the attacks he

endured during his previous election and how money from George Soros was able to swing his election. 

They also discuss the current situation of Maricopa County and the importance that single county plays into the big picture. Chuck and Mark hear about the Sheriff’s plans if he does win the election in 2020. Sheriff Joe also talks about the changing political views in Arizona. 

More about Sheriff Joe Arpaio: 

Long before Joe Arpaio became known as “The Toughest Sheriff

in America”, a title coined by the media, he already had a stellar career serving his country in the military and law enforcement. He enlisted in the US army at the age of 18 when the Korean War started. Following his discharge, he became a police officer in Washington DC and afterwards Law Vegas, Nevada. Arpaio’s career really took off when he was appointed as a special agent in the

Federal Bureau of Narcotics, which later became part of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) where he served over 26 years.  

For almost a decade, Arpaio covered many foreign countries when he headed the DEA combatting the drug trade, which, even by today’s standards, was highly volatile and dangerous. When he was headquartered out of Istanbul, Turkey and Mexico City he covered Turkey, the Middle East, Mexico, and Central and South America. He was also a diplomatic attaché. In his last years with the DEA, Arpaio continued to gain invaluable expertise on border issues and enforcement as the head of the DEA in the states of Arizona and Texas.  

In 1992, Arpaio successfully campaigned to become the Sheriff of Maricopa County, which became the third largest sheriff’s office in

the United States with over 3,400 employees. During his tenure as Sheriff, Arpaio was elected to an unprecedented six four-year terms. He consistently earned extraordinarily high public approval ratings. In fact, his 24 years as Sheriff makes him the longest serving elected Sheriff in Maricopa County history.  

With over 55 years of law enforcement experience, Arpaio knew what the citizens of this county wanted. “The only real boss I have is the public and that’s whom I served,” he says. Arpaio is proud that every year as Sheriff, he returned millions of dollars from his nearly 350 million-dollar budget back to the people/taxpayers due to his good management principles.  

As chief law enforcement officer of the county, Arpaio reduced crime by hard-hitting enforcement methods. For example, his office solved several high-profile murder cases and cracked down on local and international drug traffic. In addition, Arpaio tackled very controversial issues and investigations, including the fight against illegal immigration, and corrupt government officials. He faced fierce opposition from many groups including the US government and media that would prefer him to ignore his duties. Arpaio will not be deterred and will continue to fight for justice for the people of the United States of America.

Danielle shares what inspired her to run in this heavily Democratic

district, and why she believes she is qualified to do so. Chuck and Mark ask Danielle about her plans to raise funds and what she is planning to do to gain tractions in a district that has been blue for over 50 years. 

They conclude by asking Danielle about allegations of some ongoing legal trouble, and why she is not running under her legal name. They

discuss how this will probably come up much more during the campaign and will be used by Democrats to discredit her.

Danielle Stella is a special education needs professional launching a campaign to represent Minnesota's 5th congressional district. She dedicates her life to teaching, supporting, and caring for children with

Autism. She is devoted to volunteering her time to supporting numerous healthcare organizations, to include the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, Courage Center, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Allina Clinics, Aftercare, and Extended Care.  

Danielle did not hold prior aspirations to run for political office. Danielle respects and supports the hard-working men and women that dedicate their lives to keeping our borders secure. She acknowledges the risks that members of ICE and DHS take on a daily basis.  

Danielle greatly supports the U.S. military, law enforcement, and first responders. She has a heartfelt appreciation for our country’s veterans and believes they deserve the nation’s utmost support beyond the uniform. She works with veterans dealing with PTSD and with citizens in Minnesota’s District 5 with trauma therapy. Danielle also believes that homelessness within the district requires attention and local support.

every single American in Minnesota's 5th congressional district - regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or religious or political differences.
