  • Influencing social change by uniting the Indigenous women with Natasha Shor

If you want to hear a powerful woman this is the one for you!

Even better, if you want to hear of a movement uniting the Indigenous women of outback Western Australia then this is it!

Natasha Short is the founder of Kimberley Jiyigas and she is on a mission to bring the women of her community together, united in their passion to lead and speak in order to influence social change within those communities, regions, and the nation.

Kimberley Jiyigas are a dynamic collective of Indigenous women whose heritage links them personally the Kimberley region.

Jiyigas is the Jaru word for birds.

Natasha is a force to be reckoned with and I loved that we shared the same thinking, which means she clearly is a legend!

  • Breaking down barriers in mining against all odds with Alex Atkin

Boy did I learn not to judge a book by its cover on this one........

This is one of the most inspiring stories I’ve had the privilege of sharing yet. She presents as the kindest, gentlest soul (and she is) but inside is one badass bitch with a force to be reckoned with.

Alex Atkins was amongst the first wave of women in mining, right back when it was illegal for women to work in underground mines(and still is in many countries). Yet there she was, a petite young lady, underground, pounding the earth with ‘air legs’ (which is like a giant jackhammer) just as good as any man.

Driven by the loss of many of her peers in incidents she felt should’ve been avoided, Alex became fixated on pursuing a path that would prevent mining deaths for future generations.

Alex is the epitome of strength and the sheer will and determination it takes to overcome life’s pitfalls and personal tragedies, of which she so bravely shares in this episode.

To say she is an overachiever is an understatement......I can’t rave enough about this woman..... just bloody listen to it, you’ll love it!

  • Cystic Fibrosis fashion for a cause with Jackie Fraser

The whole point of this podcast was to seek out inspiring woman doing cool and interesting shit in business from all the remote corners of Australia.

This episode emulates every bit of that purpose as Jackie Fraser shares her journey with Cystic Fibrosis and her new business Rose Lungs Clothing.

I loved Jackie’s explanation of Rose Lungs so much I pulled the words right off her website.....

The idea that those living with Cystic Fibrosis have lungs overflowing with roses; blooming yet covered in thorns. Painfully beautiful, similar to the lives they lead. The rose comes from the story of children living with the illness, pronouncing Cystic Fibrosis as 65Roses. Here, we do our part to support the fight for a cure by donating 10% of proceeds to Conquer Cystic Fibrosis.

  • Social media for outback business with Toni Flanagan

When you’re a business operating in a remote or rural area OBVIOUSLY digital marketing and the online space puts you on a level playing field with those in the ‘big smoke’.

BUT........ I have noticed it can come with different challenges(duh). I love speaking to rural businesses and dissecting the challenges they face, not just with digital marketing but things as simple as getting stock and supplies.

I also love the genuine and authentic relationships I make on my outback adventures.

In this episode, I’ll be delving into all of that with Broome gal and social media expert Toni Flanagan to discuss all of that and of course....... There will be some trash talk for laughs too.

  • The power of AUTHENTIC networking

Coming off the back of International Women’s week I noticed a lot of different events taking place to celebrate the superior species–us WOMAN! Just kidding fella’s, this isn’t a bra burning session.

What I noticed was a divide in events. There were some that legitimately aimed at education, empowering and genuinely bringing people together. Then there were events that seemed to be genuinely aimed at looking amazing on Instagram.

It got me to thinking, there is so much power in networking. Good relationships are the holy grail of a successful business. So how do we createthemauthentically?

  • Juggling depression, single parenting & owning a business with Amanda Kapiteyn

"I’ve been absent for most of my life and now I’m here”–Amanda Kapiteyn

It’s a hard task managing depression when you’re a solopreneur working from home. Who’s there to motivate you, uplift you, praise you on your good work? NO ONE!

It’s a common discussion about how lonely it can be working from home, so I loved the opportunity to have Amanda speak so candidly about her battle with depression and how that impacts her business.

I’m no therapist but with my own anxieties to manage I do share my tips on what works for me.

Hopefully, if any of this resonates with you it will be of comfort to know you’re not alone. We’re all just a little mad!

  • Why I walked away from a successful business I loved

I have just made the biggest change in my life since having kids. And let me tell you I don’t recommend it. If you ask me, just stay in your comfort zone where it’s safe and never leave.

    Just kidding.....obvs!

But choosing to walk away from the super successful business that I loved and owned for 13 years was a HARD choice to make and so I thought it was a story worth sharing. And who knows, it might inspire you to take a leap of faith.

  • Mums fight toxins to win multimillion-dollar business, with 123 Nourish Me

I love me a good rags to riches basement story. You know the one where you start out working out of your basement with only 10 bucks and then you become a huge success?

This is kinda like that but minus the basement and the 10 bucks.

In this episode I chat with Perth mum, 123 Nourish Me co-founder Alyssa Latto, about how she grew a business out of pure love for her kids and all things toxin free.

I love that Alyssa talks about everything from how important it was to have an engaged following BEFORE she launched her product, to the ins and outs of actually making the product and launching to market.

I learnt so much in this conversation about Australian regulations, what’s allowed vs what’s not, tips for raising healthy kids and my favorite topic – what f@ck ups did you overcome on your path to success.

  • Breaking down barriers between aboriginal and non-aboriginal people with the founders of Kooyar Wongi

I’m not the most politically correct person getting around so talking to a ‘greenie’ about Aboriginal culture, it’s safe to say I’m in way over my head.

The problem ‘these days’ is too many of us are terrified of saying the wrong thing publicly for fear of trolls and condemnation, so we avoid the hard conversations and tackling any topic we may be ignorant around. I decided to be brave because this shit is important, and we could all do to step up and diversify our knowledge on different cultures. Or in this instance – my very own Australian culture and heritage.

Businesses like Kooyar Wongi exist because of people like me and I am excited to have this chat about breaking down barriers between aboriginal and non-aboriginal people by asking those questions and having those conversations many of us are usually too scared to get into.

  • Managing stress and anxiety with holistic healing with Cindy Henderson

It kinda annoys me to say that we all seem to be battling stress, anxiety or depression these days. I mean – even the kids have it! Tackling this topic is a huge beast and it bugs me that it’s such a huge issue in today’s society – what are we all doing wrong? Not judging though, I am self-diagnosed of all of the above.

So, I wanted to talk about alternative and holistic therapies. Some of you will immediately be excited and some of you will role your eyes. But you know what I say – don’t knock it till you try it!

You know what else I say?

    Shut up and listen………
