The Celtics destroyed the Kings 132-109 in a very balanced attack. This was a game where Derrick White completely dominated. He had 20pts 7reb and 11ast and was making all the right plays all night long. The only negative from his night was a lone turnover but even after that turnover, he sprinted back on defense and blocked Harrison Barnes in transition and turned that into a bucket on the other end for the Celtics. He was really good in this one but he wasn't alone. JB continued his hot stretch with 27pts 5reb 4ast on a super efficient 10-16 from the field and 4-7 from 3.

Tatum still drove me crazy with his 2-7 shooting from 3 and 6-11 from the FT line but I will give him credit for being much more aggressive getting to the rim in this one. Tatum is not a very good 3pt shooter and I said this when he was named to the 3pt Shooting Contest but he is PHENOMENAL getting to the rim. He needs to focus on that part of his game much more often. This wasn't a perfect game overall but it was pretty close to it. The Celtics shot 40.9% from 3, had 33ast on 49fgm, only tuned the ball over 6 times, outrebounded them 43-42 and scored 21pts off their 14TOs. You can't really ask for much more but the Celtics even delivered more. They held the highest rated offense in NBA history to just 109 pts and matched their pace. It was a very impressive win but now it's time to build on it.

The Celtics fall to the Jazz 118-117 in a nail biter. This is, once again, another game where the Celtics held a 19pts lead and watched it slip away as fast as it came. We out scored the Jazz 34-24 and were rolling. Started the 2nd quarter hot and built up that 19pt lead and then proceeded to get outscored 33-30 in the 2nd, 31-27 in the 3rd and 30-26 in the 4th. We lost 3 straight quarters and gave up 30pts in all 3 of them. The part of this game that is most frustrating is the fact that the Celtics offense looked great tonight. Tatum had another horrible game scoring just 15pts and missing 2 huge shots down the stretch but outside of him, the offense was great. We shot 43% from 3, had 30ast on 42fgm and only turned the ball over 8 times. You should win a game where you play like that every day of the week.

The big reason we lost this game was because of offensive rebounding and defense. The Celtics gave up 17 offensive rebounds in this one that led to 20 second chance pts. The Celtics shot themselves in the foot. Obviously in a game with no Horford, Timelord or Smart you are going to regress defensively and from a rebounding perspective but there's no excuse for playing how they did on the defensive end. This team is filled of very capable defenders and tonight wasn't a good depiction of that. I will give Grant a lot of credit for a great game alongside our bench. Every single bench player ended the night with a positive +/- while every starter was a negative. There are still a lot of things the Celtics need to clean up and there are only 10 games left to do so.

The Celtics beat the Trail Blazers 126-112 in a pretty impressive win. The offense was buzzing tonight and the shot selection was much better. For the people out there seeing 42 3pt attempts, I will say that 90% of those 2s were created from penetration and kick outs so they were great shots. We weren't simply settling for 3s but creating those 3s. Tatum still went 2-11 from 3 so I would like to see that number go down a bit but even he was super aggressive getting to the rim and it shows as he was 16-18 from the FT Line. JB continued his "scorch the earth" stretch and added 27pts 6reb 5ast and 2stl on a super efficient 12-23 from the field and, like Tatum, most of his makes were at the rim.

Al Horford led the way tonight with 10ast and was getting people involved left and right and Marcus Smart had, arguably, his best game since coming back from the injury. He ended tonight with 15pts on efficient shooting while also adding 6ast and 4stl including a huge strip on Damian Lillard while Portland was a big run that led to a JB transition bucket to go up 11 with 2:00 left. We saw some really good contributions off the bench as well from Blake, Kornet and Hauser. This wasn't a perfect win but it was definitely a good one. Dame went off for 25pts in the 4th quarter alone and made this game interesting for a bit but when Portland got it down to single digits, the Celtics responded with a punch to the throat which is exactly how you want a team to respond. This was Boston Celtics Basketball and hopefully we see a lot more of it in the final 11 games.

The Celtics beat the Timberwolves 104-102 in a rollercoaster of a game. JB absolutely dominated this game from start to finish. He had 35pts 10reb including 15 of those pts coming int he 4th quarter. He was 12-24 from the field and 5-8 from 3 and couldn't be stopped. He was super aggressive getting downhill in this one and came up huge down the stretch in this win. Jayson Tatum had another off night shooting BUT was much more aggressive getting downhill and it resulted in him going 14-16 from the FT Line. With that being said, he was still 4-16 from the field and 0-8 from 3 so to say he struggled is an understatement.

This was a game where the Celtics won because of JB and the defense. Holding this Timberwolves team who averages 115 to just 102 on 44% from the field and 33% from 3 which are both well below their team averages is impressive. Every single starter for the Celtics chipped in a steal with Tatum and Smart having 2 each. Then you have White and Horford with 2 blocks each and Tatum joining that party with one of his own. This was a really strong defensive game through and through. The Celtics still need to get out of the iso game which did plague them a bit in this one but most of the reason we ended the game with just 20ast is actually because the Celtics just shot soo poorly (40% from the field and 30% from 3) and not necessarily because of the iso ball. Guys just weren't hitting shots tonight which makes this win even more impressive. The Celtics have just 12 games left in the regular season and have a lot of issues to address come playoff time.

The Celtics fall to the Rockets 111-109 in another embarrassing game. JB came out and was simply unstoppable in this game. He scored 43pts on 16-25 (64%) from the field and 4-10 (40%) from 3 and, as good as he was all game, went off for 17pts in the third quarter. Jayson Tatum on the other hand was absolutely brutal in this game. He had 22pts and 4TOs on 8-22 (36%) from the field and 2-10 (20%) from 3. After a horrible first half, Tatum comes out and puts up 11pts on 5-7 from the field with both of his misses coming from 3. He was aggressive getting downhill and it looked like it may have been a tipping point. It was not. The 4th quarter came and he went into his shell missing all 3 of his shot attempts including the potential game tying basket at the buzzer.

Outside of JB, Malcolm Brogdon really did play excellent in this one with 20pts along with a couple of huge plays on both sides of the ball down the stretch. Besides JB and Brogdon, nobody put together a good performance. In fact, if you take their numbers out of the 3pt shooting (7-15 combined for 46%) the Celtics shot 20% from beyond the arc. They only had 19ast on 39 makes which is also a huge issue with tonight's game. The Celtics truly got outplayed in this one. We were outrebounded by 10, gave up 15oreb and allowed 22pts off our 14TOs. This was truly a bad showing and as the postseason nears, one would hope the Celtics would start playing their best basketball of the season but they seem to be moving backwards.

The Celtics beat Portland 115-93 and finally give us fans a night off from having a heart attack. The Celtics had a double digit lead most of this game and finally closed it out giving our starters (minus White) the entire 4th quarter to rest. Tatum looked great in this one with 30pts and 7reb on 6-10 from 3 so it was good to finally see him hitting these 3s. White stepped up big in this one with 21pts 5reb and 7ast including a couple big baskets in that 4th quarter to push the Celtics lead back up to 19 after the Trail Blazers got it down to 14. Horford looked 10 years younger once again having a big night with 17pts 6reb 5ast on a super efficient 7-11 from the field.

JB and Brogdon weren't necessarily on their game tonight but Brogdon was especially bad in this one. He ended the night with just 5pts on 2-13 from the field including 1-7 from 3. He missed 4 layups and got a 5th one blocked and had a couple of wide open 3s that were nowhere close. He did contribute 9reb but it was definitely a tough night overall for him. This was a much needed win to get the Celtics back on track mentally as well following that 3 game stretch of blowing double digit leads. The Celtics improve to 46-21 and are now 2GB the Bucks for the 1seed and have a 2 game lead over Philly as well. They now go on to a 6 game road trip against a pretty easy schedule so hopefully the Celtics can go on a nice little run here leading up to our game against Milwaukee which will determine a lot seedings wise.

The Celtics fall to the Cavs 118-114 and blow their third straight double digit lead in this one. The Celtics played 3 quarters of brilliant basketball. We outscored the Cavs in all of the first 3 quarters and had a 14pt lead going into the 4th. The Celtics built this lead with excellent 3pt shooting and an unbelievable night from JB (32pts 14reb and 9ast) and Malcolm Brogdon (24pts 4reb 5ast). The ball was flying around and guys were cutting creating open shots. On top of that, the Celtics were playing hard on the defensive end forcing a ton of turnovers that led to easy opportunities.

After going into 2OT yesterday the Celtics looked exhausted going into this 4th quarter and was evident as most of their shots came up short. I'm not using that as an excuse because it is inexcusable to lose a 14pt lead in a 4th quarter. The ball stopped moving the way it was in the beginning and after out 13-26 start from 3, we ended the night 16-48 so from the 3rd quarter on we shot just 13% from 3. With all of that being said, the Celtics had the ball with 6 seconds left in a tied game and Pritchard flew up the floor and Grant Williams gets fouled on the putback attempt. He had an opportunity to win the game by hitting just 1 FT and missed both of them forcing an OT and at that point the Celtics were toast. They made just 1 FG the entire OT which was JB splitting a crazy double team and the only other pts were 3 FTs from JB. They had no legs and because of the missed FTs from Grant, we are now staring at a 3rd straight game with a double digit lead blown.

The Celtics fall to the Knicks 131-129 in 2OT on the front end of a back to back... No Brogdon or Timelord in this game and we saw Hauser and Muscala play limited minutes because of their inability to hit shots. They combined to shoot 2-7 from 3 in 32 minutes and forced Joe to rely very heavily on the starting 5. We saw Tatum play 49 minutes and JB play 47 and are expected to bounce back tomorrow against a tough Cavs team. This game was certainly exciting and we saw stretches of great basketball but we also saw the Celtics blow another double digit lead.

As well as Tatum played at times, his shot selection was atrocious once again. He ended the night with 40pts 11reb and 6ast but he was 12-30 from the field and 6-17 from 3!!! When he is aggressive, the Celtics play their best basketball and we didn't see that for most of the night. JB hit a couple of huge shots including the massive And 1 to tie the game at the end of regulation and was much more consistent getting downhill. Horford showed that he ages like fine wine adding in 20pts on 6-10 from 3 in one of his better performances of the year. Grant stepped up and played great in this one. The shots weren't falling for him as he was only 1-5 from 3 but he was 4-4 from the FT line including some clutch ones in OT and his defense was excellent in this one but all of those performances went wasted in a tough loss.

The Celtics lost to the new look Nets 115-105 in a game where they once led by as many as 28pts!!! The Celtics came out firing early in this one and led 37-15 after the first and were doing everything right. They were getting downhill, getting to the FT line, hitting their 3s and defending at a very high level. Then everything changed and we saw the intensity slip on the defensive end, the pace slowed down and we saw more iso ball. We were outscored by 13 in the 2nd quarter, 14 in the 3rd quarter and 5 in the 4th quarter...

Obviously losing a 28pt lead is frustrating but the thing that frustrates me the most is the fact that we still outplayed them in several aspects of today's game. We shot a higher % from the field, we outrebounded them, had more assists, more fastbreak pts and way more pts in the paint and we still lost. The 3pt shooting killed us but the play of Jayson Tatum was the real killer. He just seemed disinterested in this game which is odd considering it was his birthday. He shot 0-8 from 3 today and had 4 boneheaded turnovers. If you take out his 0-8 from 3, the Celtics shot 40% which will win you a lot of games in the NBA but Tatum's shot selection was horrible in this one. JB (35pts 5reb 4ast 3stl) and Derrick Whites (16pts 4reb 3ast) were the only real bright spots in todays game. Smart had a couple of beautiful steals and assists in this one but those slowed down as the game progressed. Tough loss for the Celtics who are in a tough battle for the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference with the Bucks.

The Celtics cruise past the Cavs 117-113 and I know that doesn't seem like "cruising past" but this game was not as close as the final score. Celtics were up by 20 late in that fourth quarter and there certainly was a massive collapse because guys reverted to iso ball and they slowed the pace which you cannot do against this Cavs defense. They are one of the best halfcourt defenses in the league with Allen and Mobley and the Celtics were at their best tonight when they dictated the pace and it showed with out 16 fast break pts.

Tatum finally caught his post all star break hot streak after a tough start but he ended this one with 41pts 11reb and 8ast after starting the game 1-4 from the field and only 2pts in the first quarter. He caught fire and never cooled down. Speaking of never cooling down, Al Horford went off for 23pts 11reb on 6-8 from 3 and was hitting big shots all night long. We also saw Timelord look like Timelord again. This was probably the best we have seen him look in quite some time. He ended the night with 11pts 11reb 1stl and 2blk and was a force down low. We're used to seeing our bench step up and perform at such a high level but tonight was a game run by the starters and despite JB struggling from the field, the starters combined for 105pts. Solid win for the boys in Green. Celtics still stand .5GB the Bucks for 1st place after they took care of Orlando tonight.
