The Celtics lose a nail biter to the Miami Heat 98-95 in a game that the Celtics led by as many as 14. We played this one without JB, Smart, Horford and Brogdon so were certainly behind the 8 ball to start but the Celtics really played well through most of this game. Derrick White was great in this one and so was Tatum in spurts. During our stretch of winning, everything was working for us. Defensively, we were solid and offensively, we were moving. White, Tatum and Pritchard did a great job of getting everyone involved but then the 4th quarter came.

Turnovers were an issue throughout this one but in the 4th quarter, we really shot ourselves in the foot. We ended the game giving up 17pts off 17 turnovers and also endured a 6 minute stretch of scoreless basketball. During that stretch we saw our 14pt lead turn to a deficit in the blink of an eye. You could tell this team was gassed being on the 2nd night of a back to back while missing 4 of our top 6 guys but there is no excuse to go 6 minutes of scoreless basketball. Despite losing the lead, we still had an opportunity to win it being down 2 with 20 seconds left and Tatum attempts a cross court pass to Grant that was easily picked off and the game was over. No timeout which I disagree with from Joe but he trusted his superstar to make the right play which is still what he would've drew up had he called a timeout and Tatum didn't deliver. It's just one loss in an 82 game season so it is nothing to get worked up about. The Celtics play again Thursday against the Knicks and will likely be playing with Horford, JB and Brogdon again so we will be close to fully healthy.

The Celtics lose their third straight game to the Orlando Magic, this time 113-98. This was an ugly game from start to finish. The Celtics had to play this one with no Malcolm Brogdon, no Marcus Smart and no Timelord. On top of that, both Jayson Tatum and Derrick White were taken out of the game with apparent injuries that they both returned from. This was the return of the Hospital Celtics that we were so fond of last year. Besides 3pt shooting, the Celtics played pretty horribly in this one. They shot 39% from 3 which is excellent but outside of that, they were not aggressive getting downhill at all.

This game was lost because of a couple key elements. The first major issue in this one from an offensive perspective was turnovers. We gave up 19pts on our 18 turnovers. The magic number is 17 and once they turn the ball over that many times the Celtics very rarely win those games. The next big issue was on the defensive end. We allowed the Magic to walk into the paint all night long and score at the rim with ease. This is a very big athletic team in Orlando but they are not good enough to drive right past the few available perimeter defenders that we have but we were lazy and when they got past them, Timelord wasn't there to clean it up. Every big winning streak usually ends in a clunker and that is what we saw tonight. Hopefully we see the Celtics bounce back tomorrow night against the Heat!

The Celtics beat the Raptors 106-104 and win their 9th straight game! This was a game with no Jayson Tatum and we also saw Marcus Smart and Robert Williams go down in the 2nd quarter so we played the large majority of this game without 3 starters. With that being said, our bench showed up and outscored the Raptors bench 62-14. We saw a massive performance from Grant Williams who scored a regular season career high with 25pts and was frankly unstoppable in the second quarter. If it weren't for a pretty bone headed foul with 3.8 seconds left, you very easily could've called this the best game of Grants career. Besides Grant, Malcolm Brogdon and Payton Pritchard were also incredible. Malcolm Brogdon contributed 25pts and 7reb and was solid throughout the game but Payton Pritchard was the one that stepped up and scored all 12 of his points in the 4th quarter and helped solidify this comeback win!

JB did step up with Tatum out and scored 27pts alongside 8reb and 6ast but with Tatum and Smart out, he was also forced to handle the ball a lot more than we are used to seeing and he did struggle at times with 5 turnovers. The other guy that stepped up huge down the stretch was Al Horford. This was not a box score type of night for Horford but he was as good as it gets defensively, especially late in this one forcing 2 jump balls and stealing the ball from Siakam to ice the game. Overall, this is a scrappy win against a hard nosed physical team while we played the majority of the game without 3 starters. It wasn't perfect by any means but those are sometimes the wins you love to see the most.

The Celtics beat the Warriors 121-118 in OT and win their 8th straight game! This was probably the ugliest win of the season for the Celtics but a win is a win. At the end of the 82 game regular season, nobody is going to remember how they played in game 46 but they will see a W on the schedule. This was a game won by our bigs. Al Horford was spectacular in this one scoring 20pts alongside 10reb with a couple of huge shots that helped push the Celtics over the edge. Timelord was another massive reason behind the W with his 14pts 11reb including 7oreb!! The Celtics ended the game with 18oreb in this one which ended up being a huge reason the Celtics were even in this game.

Jayson Tatum ended the night with 34pts and 19reb which sounds like a monster night but his shooting efficiency was horrible and he turned the ball over 7 times. Jaylen Brown had 12 4th quarter/OT pts including the game tying 3 that sent this game to OT but similar to Tatum, shot horribly from the field. Regardless of their shortcomings, both of these guys dug deep and hit a couple of monster shots in this one when they needed it most and that is what stars do. They dig deep. Again, this is an ugly win and there are certainly some things that the Celtics need to clean up like the 24pts allowed on 17 turnovers but they still managed to pull this one off. This is their 8th straight win and helps the Celtics widen their lead in the Eastern Conference!

Jayson Tatum continues his MVP hunt with a 51pt performance on MLK day propelling the Celtics to a huge 130-118 win over the Charlotte Hornets. This truly was one of the best offensive games we have seen this year and that is saying a lot considering how we have started this year. We ended the game with 34ast on 43fgm which is super impressive and Tatum was a huge part of that. Often times when superstars go off, they tend to go hero mode and that never happened with Tatum in this one. Almost all of his makes were assisted and he played within the offense perfectly. The backup guard duo of Brogdon and White were also phenomenal in this one but that isn't where we stop. Everyone contributed in this one. Smart and Grant both hit some big shots but their playmaking is what stood out most. Timelord and Kornet continued to be rim threats and Horford played excellent defense in this one.

It certainly wasn't perfect but a win is a win. In the first quarter, we gave up 7oreb and let the Hornets stay close. Then in the second quarter, we gave up 11pts on 6 TOs. In the third quarter, our defense fell apart and it impacted our offense for a bit. These are all issues that we played through tonight against a bad Hornets team but could be costly against a better opponent. Either way, a win is a win and you have to be happy about this one. This marks our 7th straight win and we continue to balloon our lead in the Eastern Conference standings!

The Celtics outscore the Hornets 60-40 in the 2nd half on their way to a 122-106 W! With no Jaylen Brown in this one, we needed guys to step up and Derrick White did just that with 8pts in the first 4 minutes of the game before colliding with Marcus Smart and leaving the game with a neck sprain. From there, we had no JB and no White for the remaining 44 minutes and we really needed guys to step up. That's where Malcolm Brogdon stepped in. He contributed 30pts 3reb 3ast and 1stl on a super efficient 11-17 from the field and 4-6 from 3. This was arguably the best game we have seen Brogdon play all year and it came when the Celtics really needed it.

We also saw Horford step up and add 16pts 7reb 6ast in this one and it is pretty apparent that he likes playing the 4 better than the 5 so that double big lineup is hopefully here to stay. Outside of that, we saw another double double (13pts 12ast) from Marcus Smart who was really good in this one besides the fact that he took way too many shots. We did see big energy minutes from both Timelord and Pritchard who, both, were beasts on the offensive glass. It's really good to see Timelord start to see his minutes go up and it is also great to see Pritchard continue to earn his time out there. Tatum was fine again in this one. He still scored his 30pts but it was on a super sloppy 12-27 from the field and 4-14 from 3. What was different from Tatum this game opposed to last was his ability to pass out of doubles. He was significantly better tonight playmaking which is is great but we still saw a decent amount of hero ball and the shots weren't really falling. Overall, it's a nice win and the Celtics widen their lead in the Eastern Conference!

The Celtics beat the Brooklyn Nets 109-98 to win their 5th straight game! With no Jaylen Brown in this one, I was very much expecting Jayson Tatum to go off and carry this team to a win but that was certainly not the case. Tatum didn't play bad in this one but it certainly wasn't his best. He ended the night with just 20pts shooting a horrible 31% from the field and 20% from 3. Fortunately for him, every other Celtics player stepped up in a major way. And I mean everyone!

Grant had a couple of huge finishes that he created out of horrible possessions. Timelord was a monster defensively. Smart led the team with 10ast while making some huge plays on the defensive end creating extra possessions. Derrick White chipped in 15 on 4-7 from 3! Kornet was a stud with 2 alley oops, a nice hook shot and corner 3 and some solid minutes on the defensive end. Brogdon continues his 6th Man of the Year stretch adding 16pts on 7-13 from the field. Payton Pritchard even contributed 9pts and 3oreb and was an absolute bolt of energy in this one. This truly was a great team win not won by a superstar but won as a collective. Ohh yeah and it's always nice locking down Kyrie and watching him shoot 9-24 from the field and only 3-11 from 3 lol. This is the 3rd game in our last 5 where we held our opponent under 100 as well which is super impressive!

The Celtics beat up the Pelicans 125-114 in another Raining Jays Masterclass. Jaylen Brown was the lead guy in this one contributing 41pts and 12reb on a crazy efficient 15-21 from the field (71%!!!!!) and 8-9 from the FT line. The Pelicans had no answer for JB all night long which led to the Celtics leading this almost wire to wire. Jayson Tatum ended with 31pts 10reb and 4ast in this one but most of his points came late when the lead was insurmountable. What I loved about the way they Jays played was how aggressive they were getting to the rim. They showed the entire world that they are way too strong to be handled by the Pelicans and were taking full advantage of it getting to the FT line a combined 19 times.

Outside of the Jays, we saw another incredible performance from Malcolm Brogdon who finished with 20pts 4reb 4ast and 2stl on a very efficient 7-11 from the field. This team is near impossible to beat when you have the Jays playing the way they did AND having this type of efficiency coming off the bench. Even without Marcus Smart and Timelord, the Celtics came to play. The defense certainly took a step back in the absence of those two but the offense looked great in this one. The Celtics take on the Nets tomorrow night so expect Horford to sit out. With that being said, I would definitely expect Timelord and Smart back in the lineup with a very high likelihood of Blake and Kornet minutes as well.

The Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls 107-99 in one of the best defensive games we have seen in a long time. While Marcus Smart sat this one out due to a knee injury, we did see Timelord inserted back into the starting lineup and he looked incredible. This was also a monster night from Jayson Tatum (32pts 8reb 7ast) and Grant Williams (20pts 8reb 2blk). We saw the full range of versatility to Grants game in this one playing a phenomenal game defensively but also hitting his 3s and getting to the rim for tough buckets.

What I love most about this game was the fact that we won because of our defense. Despite shooting 11-41 (26.8%) from 3, we still managed to pull this one out and it started on the defensive end. The Celtics held the Bulls to just 99pts while also holding them to just 14FTs. The Celtics did have a couple lapses in this game on the offensive end where we reverted back to hero ball but it was always the defense that bailed them out which is a welcoming sight.

The Celtics escape the Romeo Langford & Josh Richardson revenge game with a 121-116 Win over the Spurs. The Jays did their thing combining for 63pts but it was the play of Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White and Robert Williams that put this team over the edge tonight. Brogdon ended the night with 23pts 2reb and 7ast and made big shot after big shot when the Celtics were starting to revert back to iso ball. Derrick White only had 8pts BUT he also contributed a team high 11ast along with 5reb and 3blks and was doing a little bit of everything in this one including some stellar defense. Timelord carried that defense through with 4blocked shots of his own on top of his double double (10pts 11reb) while also contributing 3ast and 2 steals. As good as the Jays were, the role players were even better.

This game certainly wasn't perfect as they did revert back to some iso ball late in the 4th quarter and were pretty terrible on defense in non Timelord minutes. Horford looked slow in this one and so did our perimeter defense at times so when guys like Tatum or Brown got blown by or just lost guys on good backdoor cuts, Horford couldn't rotate over to protect the rim. Timelord changed a lot of those things when he was on the court. I know the Celtics are trying to keep his minutes low and I am 100% fine with him keeping his minutes low but I do think it is time to get him back into the starting lineup just to give this team a bit of energy to start games and hopefully watch that grow as they continue on.
