Brian interviews transit guru WB Transit. WB Transit posts daily about transit ideas past and future. We start by discussing the abundant rail lines that surround and intersect our metro GTA area and then review many of the past proposals to use them to provide world best transit. WB shows us the impact of all day two GO on the Mississauga Milton Line and then extending it across the middle of the city on the CP lines that run between Bloor and Davenport through the Annex and by the Summerhill LCBO and on to the Science Centre and Zoo. We discuss the proposal to link Mississauga to Brampton and even Orangeville. The Bolton line, a line across Derry, the western freight bypass and a line from Lakeview to Longbranch to Kipling.

Brian speaks with Aled Ab Iorwerth. Aled is the Deputy Chief Economist of CMHC. Groundbreaking research by CMHC has revealed that inadequate supply is a key driver behind escalating house prices. Along with Stats Can, CMHC has compared housing prices, approval delays and developer restrictions across major markets and finds the Greater Toronto area municipalities are almost the slowest with the heaviest red tape in Canada. He talks about housing affordability and a recent report that finds that approval time delays are the number one cause of unaffordable housing and creating our current crisis. We discuss all other factors causing the housing crisis.

Brian interviews Emily Weedon. Emily is a screenwriter, novelist, film maker and recovering musician who is comfortable writing across many mediums and genres. She is the author of a debut novel "Autokrator" with Cormorant Books and the co-creator of 2 seasons of Chateau Laurier as well as screenwriter on the adult animation series for Sphere media, Red Ketchup. Emily Weedon talks tonight about her provocative and scary book “Autokrator”.

Brian interviews Michelle Bilek. Michelle is a long term Mississauga advocate and activist for a socially responsible and just society. She has run for politics several times, serves on numerous Peel poverty and homelessness organizations and runs her own consulting company. Michelle Bilek talks tonight about food and housing insecurity in Mississauga and the GTA. Tonight is the Food Bank debate so we thought this topic was very timely.

He and his team provide public opinion measurement, interpretation, and advice and counsel to senior executives and public affairs/public relations leaders. He’s a nationally known figure and much sought-after speaker with over three decades of expertise in public opinion and market research, global polling, public and corporate affairs strategy, communications, branding, and media relations. John Wright talks about polls evaluating Canadian’s opinion on the federal budget and its implications for the upcoming election.

Then, Grant Clark. Grant is a former Chair of the Mississauga Board of Trade and successful corporate HR executive. He talks on what he would be looking for if he was recruiting for a new Mayor.

Brian Crombie interview Mississauga City Councillor Brad Butt about City Issues. We discuss our housing crisis and how we got here, frustrations in trying to address it, transit needs including all day two way GO sevice and the escalation of crime in Mississauga. 

Brad Butt was elected as Councillor, Ward 11, City of Mississauga, in 2022.  Prior to this, Brad served as the Vice-President, Government & Stakeholder Relations for the Mississauga Board of Trade. He served as the Member of Parliament for Mississauga-Streetsville from May 2011 – October 2015, and as President of the Greater Toronto Apartment Association for twelve years.

Brian Crombie interviews Michael Spaziani a renowned local architect and urban legend about Mississauga Urban Planning issues and ideas. We discuss what will happen to cities, Mississauga, urban planning, housing, condos, transit, our main streets, approval time periods and waterfront retail entertainment. This is a big idea discussion about Mississauga. 

Michael was the principal of MSAi, an architectural firm established in 1986. He has specialized in commercial, retail, waterfront condo developments, and has served as an expert witness for heritage assessments. Michael is currently the expert advisor for The Ontario Municipal Board and works on many mediations for the OLT often representing residents. He was inducted into the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
