Bucknuts Morning 5: An Ohio State athletics podcast

It appears to be a very strong year in the state of Ohio for 2021 recruits.

Ohio State has already landed verbal commitments from the three highest-ranked prospects in the state: defensive end Jack Sawyer, offensive tackle Ben Christman and wide receiver Jayden Ballard.

The Buckeyes also have a commit from the No. 6 player in the state, linebacker Reid Carrico, and the No. 11 recruit in the state, safety Jaylen Johnson.

Bill "Bank" Greene joins Dave Biddle for today's show to go in-depth on Ohio's 2021 recruits.

* How does this class stack up with previous classes from Ohio?

* What is the story on running back Corey Kiner (No. 5 player in the state), RB Jaylen Anderson (No. 7), DE Najee Story (No. 8), defensive tackle Mike Hall (No. 9) and safety A.J. Kirk? Do the Buckeyes want all of them? Where does OSU stand with them?

All of that and more is coming at you on the Monday 5ish.

What will Ohio State's depth chart look like at running back, linebacker and on the defensive line in 2020?

Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for his usual Friday visit to break down the depth chart and talk about Mickey Marotti's comments earlier this week.

All of that and more is coming at you on a 21-minute edition of the show.

247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong is here in his usual Thursday morning slot and has plenty to say.

* Ryan Day on the trail: What is the latest?

* Kerry Coombs coming back ...

* Why Dawand Jones is off the chart.

Ohio State's 2020 wide receiver class is the best we can remember for a position group. Which of the four will have the biggest impacts for the Buckeyes in 2020?

The People's Champ, Matt Baxendell, joins Dave Biddle for today's show to discuss that, plus:

* Kerry Coombs is back and is already planting flags on the recruiting trail.

* How will duties between Coombs and Greg Mattison be split up?

* Who will likely be OSU's starting right tackle this fall: Nicholas Petit-Frere or Dawand Jones?

* Is Cameron Martinez definitely going to sign with the Buckeyes two weeks from today?

All of that and more is coming at you on the midweek 5ish.

He's back ... officially.

We all waited on the Tennessee Titans' playoff run to end so Ohio State could finish tweaking its staff.

Kansas City beat Tennessee in the AFC Championship Game ... and now Kerry Coombs has officially come home.

With a promotion and possible elevation to the booth ... what does Duane Long think of the whole deal?

We break it down in detail and also get into the Senior Bowl, Cam Martinez and Joey Bosa marketing the OSU brand.

It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Bill "Bank" Greene joins Dave Biddle for his usual Monday visit. Topics include:

* Kerry Coombs' impending return to Ohio State.

* Bank's thoughts on Corey Dennis being promoted to quarterbacks coach.

* Alex Williams entering the transfer portal.

* How tight are the numbers for the Buckeyes right now?

* What is the latest on Cameron Martinez?

All of that and more is coming at you on the MLK Day edition of the Monday 5ish.

It is Friday and that means Jonah Booker is here for the Bucknuts Morning 5. JBook joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss the following:

* Expectations for Justin Fields in 2020.

* The Buckeyes only losing three early-entry players, which was the best-case scenario.

* Who does JBook think will step up at running back for the 2020 Buckeyes?

* Speaking of RBs, we can finally close the book on Jahmyr Gibbs as it pertains to OSU. Gibbs' official visit to Columbus this weekend has been cancelled. It appears the Buckeyes will sign just one running back, Miyan Williams, in their 2020 class.

* What is JBook's take on the promotion of Corey Dennis to quarterbacks coach at Ohio State?

All of that and more is coming at you on the Friday 5ish.

The offseason routine is getting rolling. This weekend, Ohio State will attempt to bolster its Class of 2020 haul when Jahmyr Gibbs visits. It's fitting the last spot in the class could go to a running back.

Will the red carpet treatment convince Team Gibbs that Columbus is not really that far from Dalton, Ga.?

It's Thursday so that means imported wisdom from 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

Speaking of running back, we talk about two names you will hear - a lot - during the 2021 recruiting cycle. One is a high school player. One is an NFL player. Listen and you'll get it.

Then we move to the secondary. Wiltfong has Crystal Balled one standout to Ohio State and reports on the Buckeyes chase for the nation's top corner out of a familiar recruiting area.

That and more is coming at you on the Wednesday 5ish.

Ohio State's 2020 football schedule includes a date at Oregon on Sept. 12, which is the second week of the season.

The People's Champ, Matt Baxendell, joins Dave Biddle for today's show to discuss the 2020 slate, plus:

* Where does Bax come down on the Zachary Evans debate? Is the talented running back a take for the Buckeyes if he is interested?

* Is Bax optimistic about Jahmyr Gibbs' official visit to OSU this weekend?

* Did Urban Meyer allow the wrong quarterback to leave after spring ball of 2018? Or did he make the right call at the time?

That and more is coming at you on the Wednesday 5ish.

Joe Burrow did it. Seriously.

The Ohio native completed what may have been the greatest single-season performance in college football history, leading LSU over Clemson, 42-25, in the National Championship Game.

We pay tribute to the son of a former Ohio U. defensive coordinator.

We also get into - what else? - recruiting with our very own Duane Long.

How big is the addition of Donovan Jackson?

How big is Ohio State's appetite for recruiting Zach Evans?
