Bucknuts Morning 5: An Ohio State athletics podcast

It's called a 'Dead Period.' Coaches and players theoretically get a break from each other and re-introduce themselves to family.

But as Joshua Perry will explain, championship mettle begins in the offseason during times coaches aren't around. It was proven during the title run of a few years back. Joshua will tell you about the defense taking matters into their own hands after seeing Braxton Miller go down with an injury.

Also:

** What do players actually do during the dead period?

** How about the coaches? You might be surprised what they are up to.

** What does Joshua think of the possible tightening of transfer rules? What is the former player's perspective on the matter?

** Is California going to set college athletes up to benefit of their likeness?

Spend some time with a great Buckeye as he gives his honest and fresh takes.

All of that plus much more is coming at you on another edition of The Joshua Perry Show.

Is Ohio State about to land the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio, a recruit who doubles as one of the top defensive tackle recruits in the country?

It sure appears so.

Darrion Henry from Cincinnati Princeton is set to make his announcement on Saturday, and the Buckeyes are the clear leader.

Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for his usual Friday visit to discuss that, plus:

* If Henry does commit to OSU as expected, who might be the next two commits in the Buckeyes' 2020 class?

* What is the latest with 5-star running back Bijan Robinson? Will he be a Buckeye?

* Who are non-committed recruits that JBook really has his eye on?

* What should be the "over/under" for Ohio State's win total during the 12-game regular season schedule in 2019?

All of that and more is coming at you on the Friday extravaganza.

Let's make this clear: Elite recruits are buying what Ohio State is selling.

Whether it is the Class of 2020 or 2021, the Buckeyes are adding elite talent on what seems like a daily basis.

Why?

247Sports Director of Recruiting is here to break it down. It's not just the quality of football or chance to go to the NFL.

It's the people. What does that mean?

Wiltfong explains. In detail. And you will like it.

Along the way, he also shares the latest on Ben Christman, Josh Fryar, Bijan Robinson, Cameron Martinez and much more.

All of that and much more is coming at you on the Thursday extravaganza.

Joshua Perry is back with the latest edition of his podcast, The Joshua Perry Show, and he answers questions that were asked by loyal listeners of the show on The Front Row message board.

The show includes the usual great insights from Joshua, as well as some hilarious quotes (none better than the one that involves former OSU coach and current Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell).

Joshua also answers questions on everything from what went wrong on the Buckeyes' offense in 2015, to what went wrong with the defense schematically in 2018, to what fans can expect from the new defensive coaches this year.

All of that plus much more is coming at you on a special Wednesday edition of The Joshua Perry Show.

Is Ohio State about to raid Tucson, Ariz., for two of the top prospects in the country in the 2020 class?

It sure seems to be trending in that direction.

The Buckeyes have perhaps emerged as the frontrunner for 5-star running back Bijan Robinson from Salpointe Catholic High School. And Ohio State has reportedly established itself as the leader for his high school teammate, high 4-star safety Lathan Ransom.

Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss that, plus:

Does OSU also lead for 4-star WR Mookie Cooper, 4-star OLB/DE Mitchell Melton and 3-star athlete/safety Cameron Martinez?

* How many prospects will be in Ohio State's 2020 class, and how high will Ryan Day's first class be ranked in the 247Sports Composite?

* Is the media and the NCAA looking the other way on the stories about PED use at Clemson, and booster involvement at LSU?

All of that and much more is coming at you on the Wednesday extravaganza.

The month-long dead period for recruiting has begun. Thankfully, Ohio State got plenty of work done when it was 'live.'

After a crazy weekend rife with spectacular visitors, it's time to take stock.

Who is (going to be) in?

Who is (going to be) out?

We brought in the best - The Dean himself: Bill Kurelic - for the absolute latest on:

* Bijan Robinson

* Sam Adams

* E.J. Smith

* Lathan Ransom

* Kourt Williams

* Cody Simon

* Darrion Henry

* Joe Royer

* Deamonte Trayanum

* Cameron Martinez

* Kedrick Bingley-Jones

* Jacolbe Cowan

ALSO: Bill is hitting the road in an official capacity real soon. Where is he headed? Why is it important to 'Nutters?

Are running back recruits reluctant to come to Ohio State now, because there is a perception that the Buckeyes will be pass-happy offense?

Patrick Murphy joins Dave Biddle for today's show to discuss that, plus:

* Where do things stand with the remaining RBs on the board for OSU in the 2020 class?

* Just how high could the Buckeyes' 2020 class finish in the recruiting rankings?

* Ohio State landed both Clark Phillips III and Jayden Ballard over the weekend.

All of that and more on the Monday extravaganza.

Today should be a good one for Ohio State as the Buckeyes are expected to land high 4-star cornerback Clark Phillips III.

The California native will make his announcment today at 3 p.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ, the free live streaming sports show (it runs 24 hours per day).

Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for his usual Friday visit to discuss all things Phillips III, plus:

* What is going on with running back recruiting for Ohio State? The Buckeyes suddenly seem to be at risk of missing out on many of their top prospects at the position.

* Who are some names we're really interested in that are visiting this weekend?

* What are thoughts on Friday Night Lights basically being replaced by today's BBQ at OSU?

All of that and more is coming at you on the Friday extravaganza.

On today's show, 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong answers that subscribers asked him on The Front Row message board.

How do things stand with Mookie Cooper as far as Ohio State is concerned?

What about running back recruiting for the Buckeyes?

Why have certain OSU commits and targets seen their rankings go down so much?

What are the early returns on Ryan Day as a recruiter? How does he compare to Urban Meyer?

All of that and much more is coming at you on the Thursday spectacular.
