PRIORITY Q&A

Andrew D.

Has SEGA ever told you what games were or were not canon? And for those that were non canon, did they say they could not be adapted at all due to being non canon?

Scurvy Piratehog

Since we never got to fully see it in World's unite...how would you imagine a proper crossover between modern Sonic and Sonic Boom to go? The Sonics interacting, Knuckles, Eggmen, ETC ETC ETC.

IanWaffles

How do you both feel about the hyper critical approach to media analysis we seem to find ourselves in nowadays? I often find I enjoy things more when I consider the time, circumstances, and people behind a project rather than treating everything in a vacuum. Do you think it creates healthy discourse for everything to be treated to such a strict and harsh standard of quality?

Digamma-F-Wau

Chronologically, when does Outlaw take place in relation to the main Drogune series? Given that the shonen jump contest chapter took place at Ruby Point and then the chapter of the main book that came out after Outlaw when the hiatus ended also took place at Ruby Point, it would be funny if what we have of Outlaw and that chapter of the main series was taking place at the same time unbeknownst to both parties, but obviously if that's not the case then that's not the case.

Johnny_B_Goode

Could you shed some light on the relationship between Rob O' the Hedge and the Albion echidnas? Rob appeared to be in a weird trance when he led Knuckles and the lost echidnas to the hidden city he never saw before, and then they were in some sort of alliance with the Albionites until their civilization was blown up by Eggman? What was up with that?

Diane W.

What are the possibilities of exploring Blaze having Iblis sealed inside of her before she Chaos Controlled herself into another dimension at the end of Silver’s campaign in Sonic ‘06, as well as the fact that Blaze was originally from Sonic’s world 200 years into the future and childhood friends with Silver before she was the princess of the Sol Dimension and keeper of the Sol Emeralds?

Papadripopolous

Thoughts from either of you on Daft Punk in general, now they've split up?

AfroLuffyX

Were the characters of Pre-reboot Archie Sonic.. erased from existence by the Genesis wave or they were reincarnated into the new continuity ..?

Hero of Light 13

As far as the IDW Sonic universe goes, what's the Avatar character up to while everything else is going?

N'Oni

I was replaying Sonic Adventure 2,

PRIORITY Q&A

Chris A.

Will the setting of sonic prime take place on Mobius or sonic’s world?

AWF

Vanilla the Rabbit, the only "canonical" parent chatacter by today's media. The mother of Cream. How old is she? If she had Cream at a young age, say around 18, she would only be about 24. And more importantly, what of the father of Cream? Is he away on business? Perhaps lost his life to one of Eggmans schemes in the last?

No one really talks about it, but the idea of Vanilla being a young, single mother is kind of tragic, and, as a parent myself, makes me appreciate her a little bit more as a character.

Doesn't have to be an "official" answer, just your personal views on it.

Scruffymatt

Who do you think is the greatest cinematic villain of all time?

Digamma-F-Wau

To follow up my previous Drogune ask, you forgot Rotor and Bunnie (don't worry, I take partial blame, I didn't specify the exact range of "main cast" and you guys got sidetracked). Might as well throw in Sticks too.

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

To Both. If EVERY Ninja Ever, and EVERY Pirate Ever went to war against each other, which side would win?

AfroLuffyX (Priority)

How would Amy,rouge, tangle and wisper fare as mothers?

IanWaffles

Hey Ian! Could you please go over the production of the Archie website exclusive story: Dark Mobius - Knuckles’ Descent?

Diane W.

...Why would Shadow want to find the truth about his past...? And why would he not want to help a city that's being invaded?

James (KoFi)

Is there anything you can tell us about the recent IDW Sonic delays? Could we get an overview of what comic books you've been contributing to of late? Perhaps just some recommendations?

Andrew D.

Are robotic versions of characters allowed to be made aside from the Metal characters?

N’Oni

Out of sheer curiosity, Was Dr. Starline a Theater Kid?

Happytimes (KoFi)

We've seen Doctor Eggman team up with Doctor Wily, but how do you think a team up would go between Eggman and a different mad doctor: Doctor Neo Cortex from the Crash Bandicoot series?

STANDARD Q&A

Vlad C.

Since Sonic Chronicles isn't really canon, do the Gizoids have a different origin or something? Is that whole realm something that SEGA is keeping even you in the dark on?

K McConnell-K

Since Shadow, Rouge & Omega aren't teammates (or friends for that matter) how come they are often seen with each other in games after Heroes (i.e. 06 & Forces) as well as the IDW comics?

PRIORITY Q&A

Digamma

If the freedom fighters were in Drogune, what races would they be? (Throw in the main games cast and Tangle/Whisper/Jewel if you want to)

Pan Dulce

In the Valentines topic, we all imagine how the heroes would spend it, but what about the villains such as Dr. Eggman, Dr. Starline, Rough & Tumble, Clutch, etc? What evil plans do they have for it?

N'Oni

Roses are red, rhyming is hard, how do you make a Zeti your Valentine?

Scruffymatt

Happy Hallmark greeting card day, everyone!

How do you think Amy Rose spends Valentine's Day, and does it involve a certain homemade Sonic doll that she keeps around for totally legitimate, definitely non-creepy reasons?

Dove

If Sega, IDW and Wizards of the Coast decided to make a Sonic themed D&D supplement based on your work so far, what character would you make for yourself? Would there be new classes to fit the world? Would you have enough dice? Kyle! Pay attention, you can answer too.

Momomimi

Hey guys! Was replaying the Megaman Zero/ZX collection recently so I’ve got a Megaman focused question for Ian. Both Megaman Zero and Shadow the Hedgehog have very similar character arcs where they are forced to confront difficult past but of the two I find Zeros to be more emotionally satisfying. Ian, what is your take on Zero’s overall character arc and (if you can) elaborate on what ways you would flesh it out/improve on existing material?

Scurvy Piratehog

I have noticed a LOT of people mistaking Dr Starline for a duck, despite the fact he's a platypus. That makes me wonder...how would Starline react if ALL the other Sonic characters within the book ALSO constantly mistook him for a duck? What would he do?

Diane W.

To Ian, what would the Sonic characters’ blood type be?

AWF

Drogune! Your own wholy original story, not related to any pre existing intellectual property. What inspired you to write it? And how much "story" do you already have planned out? When I write something, I usually have the ending planned out ahead of time. Do you look at a story the same way, or do you just write until the writing is done a...

Have you ever written anything using the classic Stan Lee "Marvel Method" of doing a basic story breakdown, letting the artist determine the pages and layouts and acting following the basic breakdown you did, and then writing the dialogue yourself? If not, is that a process that would interest you,

PRIORITY Q&A

Diane W.

-why would the GUN Commander work for GUN and blame Shadow for Maria’s death and having his family taken from him when it was GUN who took away the commander’s family and killed Maria when the ARK shut down

-why does Black Doom want Shadow to get the Chaos Emeralds or even activate the jewel temples when he has a huge army of Black Arms that can just do the job

-why would Eggman be upset that there’ll be no city to take over if the Black Arms destroy them all when he had no problems flooding Station Square by unleashing Chaos

-the biggest one of all, Who the Gibbling Flump hired the Chaotix to find any info on Project Shadow?

PC-The-Unicorn

Ian, becuase I never stop thinking about how great Worlds Collide is, I have this fun question involving two beloved evil scientists. What would Dr. Starline make of Dr. Wily and vice versa? And would Starline, like Eggman, consider Wily weak for the mere fact that he won't kill Dr. Light despite the fact that it would make Wily life easier?

Andrew D.

I noticed in the comic that the Chaotix are never referred to as Team Chaotix and instead are referred to as the Chaotix Detective Agency. Is the name “Team Chaotix” no longer allowed to be used, and is “Chaotix Detective Agency” the name of the group, the place they stay at, or both?

John B.

Hey guys. This question is for both of you. With the announcement that Roger Craig Smith leaving the role of Sonic, what did you like about his performance as Sonic throughout the years. This could range from how he approached the role as a whole or a specific moment. Personally while the deeper voice threw me off at first, I found that Roger had amazing comedic timing. This especially showed in Sonic Boom.

Johnny_B_Goode

I heard you want questions, so I got a Mega question to ask!

In what ways were Mega Man and the Robot Masters less intelligent or capable of agency than reploids or even humans? They had distinct personalities and some could express emotions like despair and remorse. Since Mega Man has had a lot of interpretations, what I'm really asking is what limits you had in mind for their robot brains when writing them.

PRIORITY Q&A

Papadripopolous

you've said before the new 252 setting isn't the same as the genesis world from the first time the genesis wave was used. my question is, why?

N'Oni

If you could adopt any badnik from the entire Sonic series, which would it be? Quantity is unlimited, but it can only be one of each type.

Joshless

Was there any particular reason you seemed to imagine planet Mobius as having a population of a couple hundred thousand people tops, or did it just work out this way?

IanWaffles

During the archie Preboot run, after Eggman brought himself back from his insanity, there were times when he’d fail and slip back into madness for a few seconds, this being depicted by his glasses falling away to show his red soulless eyes....so what I’m asking is was this detail something to pay attention to and that you intended to pay off? Or was it simply a characterization choice to show that Eggman was still not fully there?

Diane W.

-why the Black Arms decided to wait until now to invade Earth when the Glyphic Canyon was transported there over 2,000 years ago

-why the Black Arms want to eat humans for their fuel

-why didn’t Sonic and co. just tell Shadow who he is or why couldn’t Shadow just ask anyone who knows him

Starline's fanboy

Starline mentioned that he became quite ill after not sleeping when he was looking for Eggman...Does it mean he's still ill? What kind of illness does he have and will it be explored in the future? Or he recovered from it already?

Ideria (Ko-Fi)

Now I’ve heard that you are familiar with my favourite shows : Wakfu.

Who has been your favorite villain between Nox, Qilby and Oropo?

AWF

Have you ever written a comic that had no dialogue? If you have, how difficult was it to do? If you haven't, how difficult do you THINK it would be to do?

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

What are the chances that Captain Whisker can appear in the IDW comics?

KaoticKanine (KoFi)

Ian, if you were finally allowed to use Sticks for IDW, how would you integrate her into the cast?

Andrew D.

What are some series (game, movie, tv, book, etc) that you would love to get into or check out but...

Andrew D.

What are some series (game, movie, tv, book, etc) that you would love to get into or check out but don’t have the time?

Blue Mickey Mouse

Ian Flynn, you’ve told people they ought not read your Sonic fan fiction from before you became an official writer because it was of bad quality. When you look back upon Other-M does your mind devolve into hearing Samus say “the baby” as that famous .gif of Sonic Underground plays in your mind? https://images.app.goo.gl/8JNV9ZSqdo8...

PRIORITY Q&A

Said question being, what went into writing Sonic character for the IDW series?

Johnny_B_Goode

What was the secret, if any, to [Jun Kun's] incredible strength and toughness?

AWF

What is Starlines favorite consumable item? And while we're on the subject of food, do Zeti eat?

Blue Mickey Mouse

If you could freely write different Sonic properties together how would the universes be recognized in name/identity by the others?

Scruffymatt

IWhich multiplayer modes from previous Sonic games have been your favourites, and how would you like to see multiplayer brought back in a future Sonic title, if at all?

Diane W.

How do you feel about Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga?

Andrew D.

If you were each to design your own Pokémon, what would it be, and what would its typing be?

Digamma F Wau

so obviously you've talked multiple times at this point about how the Iron Dominion saga featuring Monkey Kahn was a joke idea to make your other pitches seem better that Pellerito ended up choosing anyways. Now back in the old Mike Gallagher Off-Panels, it was a running gag that Pellerito had an obsession with monkeys and apes. I wonder...

Madeline M (Ko-Fi)

Ian, is how Sonic and Tails first met in the IDW continuity the same as mainline? Amy mentioned in #10 how Tails was raised by Sonic. Did Sonic find Tails going hungry as a baby or toddler, or did Tails fix up Sonic’s plane? Can you describe the story of Sonic raising Tails?

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

One...thing I have seen going around at times that annoys me a little is when people claim that Eggman/Robotnik is a complete idiot, and not a real threat. I mean, in IDW and Forces, he DID manage to take over the world, he has created huge facilities, robot armies, deadly inventions, and he has shown multiple times that he actually is a genius, and had really evil moments. I personally think that the main thing about the character is that his main weaknesses are his own overconfidence in his plans, and his own obsession with Sonic.

But what do you think? How would you sorta "explain" Eggman?
