PRIORITY Q&A

Pan Dulce (KoFi)

Hi Ian! Some fans and I noticed that Eggman was acting different during the Metal Virus arc, being more careless than usual. Was this because he was still affected by his amnesia episode, a plot device to make Starline disappointed or just the direction that SEGA wanted with him?

Scruffymatt

Can you think of a quote from any Sonic media - be it games, comics, tv shows, movies, or hell, even those weird choose your own adventure books! - that is a fitting description of you?

(If either of you choose, "SnooPING AS usual?!" that's nooo good. :P)

Andrew D.

The Sonic and Mario video game universes have swapped. Sonic is now a portly plumber saving Princess Rose from the tyrannical King Eggman. Mario is now the fastest thing alive stopping Dr. Bowser from conquering the world. What other changes exist, and who is who? Side note: I can’t imagine King Eggman would have any interest in marrying Princess Rose, unless all their ages swapped, too. Bonus: Now you have access to alternate media. Is Princess Rose now Princess Acorn? Is Bivalve the new Calamity Clam? You guys decide!

AWF

I understand a certain level of professional unbiased-ness is required, but what's your personal thoughts on fan groups that advocate for the return of old characters, like Rally4Sally, SaveCosmo, and JoinGun? Do you think groups like that are wasting their time and energy, or do you think it's still good for fans to have groups like that where they can come together and show their support?

Digamma

looking back at archie and you know what I miss from Archie? Backup stories. I know you don't have any power over this, but does David M listen to the bumblekast? I'd bet IDW could benefit from having backup stories from time to time. Not every 4-issue arc needs a full 80 pages, some of them could do with only 60. You could even have backup stories from guest writers and such. Then again I don't think IDW books in general usually do backup stories. The only ones I can think of are TMNT Universe and Star Wars Adventures. Closest thing we get otherwise are Annuals (and 30th anniversary special). But still, Ya hear me David?

Since Team Metal was confirmed as SEGA's idea & not Archie Comics', if allowed to, how would you introduce Metal Amy & Metal Tails into IDW Sonic, what type of rivalry would Metal Amy & Metal Tails have with Amy & Tails & what would be Team Metal's dynamics in IDW?

Andrew D.

I've seen people making movesets for various characters as if they were in a classic styled Sonic game like Mania, such as Sally with Nicole and Metal Sonic. What are some ideas you'd have for how any Sonic characters from various media might play in this style? I'd love to one day see the Freedom Fighters and the Metal dopplegangers as well as other classic characters like the Hooligans, Amy, and really anyone. I suppose that's where mods come in, but that's besides the point. Jet the Hawk? Pseudo Sonic? Eggman himself? Go ahead and go crazy!

Scurvy Piratehog

With the recent reveal of GUN appearing in the Sonic movie sequel..what are your hopes for the movie? I personally hope for focus on Sonic and Tails's brotherly bond, Jim Carrey Going full Eggman, and possibility of Metal Sonic.

Happytimes

Whisper and Nack compete against each other in the greatest challenge for sharpshooters: those rigged carnival shooting games. How does it go? (For extra potential havoc, Tangle, Jewel, Bean and Bark could also be there at the carnival)

AWF

In an alternate reality where Mobians are Zeti and Zeti are Mobians, what species would each of the Deadly Six be? Also, someone pls draw Sonic and friends as Zeti now.

Zavok Simping Soni

I've noticed that the Flickies from 3D Blast have appeared in the comics despite 3D Blast being a Classic game so what's up with that? Are those types of Flickies considered Modern as well since it's all in the same species?

Diane W.

Who created the Chaos Emeralds?

GLITCHIEST

Are you allowed to engage with fanworks and such, working on official media like this?....will you ever be allowed to release drafts/'what could've been' scripts, or is it strictly under an NDA?

TheHoboJoe!!!

Have you given any thought about potential [crossover] ideas......

PRIORITY Q&A

Chris A.

Is there any chance that the Archie Sonic characters might show up in idw sonic?

AfroLuffyX

In a alternative universe how would you re-write the endgame arc in Pre-reboot Archie Sonic

Sony N.

I'm currently making my own comics and finally finished issue one's pencils. I'm mostly an artist but I write my own stories. When I write my scripts I tend to do a paragraph a page. Or a paragraph = one page. How do you do it? Do you do it panel by panel, page by page? I know it'll be different since you're writing to the artist.. but what tips do you have for when the writer is the artist. Basically I'm a one man show trying to make it and making progress.. but slow progress.

GLITCHIEST

With the metal virus and zombotification, when someone's effectively zombotified do they retain any level of awareness (such as how satAM handled roboticization as kind of 'I have no mouth and I must scream' situation), or is it more like they're basically brain-dead and unaware until cured?

GLITCHIEST

If Sonic had been fully zombot-ified, how would he behave? Would he basically be another addition to the slow-moving, shambling masses of zombots, would he be a high-risk super-speed kinda' zombot or would he retain his sense of self like he did during the werehog transformation?

Hero of Light 13

Isn't it reasonable to assume that [Sonic] still has a house of his own that he occasionally scurries back to between adventures?

Hero of Light 13

My question is can't Sonic CD fit comfortably between Sonic 2 and 3?

AWF

What does Whisper keep in those little pods under her jacket? Are they some kind of explosives, or do they contain her Wisps? If the later, does that mean Wisps can be caught like pokemon?

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

How would you re-imagine the Sonic cast as pirates? feel free to include IDW Characters.

DianeLionheart

Which is your favourite eeveelution and why?

Johnny_B_Goode

What are your favorite members of the X-Men? Past, present, future, or adaption versions? Whatever you prefer!

AWF

For Ian (Kyle can answer, too. I like when Kyle gives his thoughts): How does someone get into writing comics books as a profession? How did you decide that you wanted to use your skills as a writer to earn a living? I know a lot of folks out there who are interested in getting into comics to do the visual aspect, pencils, inking, coloring, etc, but not quite as many folks seem interested in the writing aspect. For you, was it more of a formal process, submitting applications/auditions, going thru the ol' interview process, or was is it more of a "you have to know someone on the inside" kind of deal? Just curious how all that works. No particular reason why.

Digamma

I was catching up on old bumblekasts from the span of time I fell behind on them and nearly a year ago you said

There's something that we're working on for 2020 in IDW Sonic where a core component was received well but was deemed inappropriate for the franchise, and I don't mean that in an adult way, I mean that it was "out of theme". (...) So I had to reconfigure things and it lead to some interesting new directions for one of the characters involved

Since we're in 2021 now, is it safe for you to go into more detail about this?

Diane W.

How did Buns contract NIDS? Was it her affair with Scourge that caused this to happen, or do you think it’s too much to address given that this is an All-Ages comic?

Dove

Hey guys, sorry to bother you at work. I'm curious, we've seen the Master Emerald shattered a few times. I assume that means the Chaos Emeralds can be similarly broken. My question is this. Can the Chaos Emeralds be destroyed completely? What would happen if they were?

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

The Sonic fandom LOVES to talk about the Sonic Ships. Some likes this ship, hates that ship, shipping, ship, shipping. So what's your favorite Sonic Ship? ...my personal favorites includes the Egg Carrier.

Happytimes (KoFi)

Does the split between Classic and Modern Sonic separate just the video game cast,

PRIORITY Q&A

Scruffymatt

So my question to you this week is: what other terrible video game adaptations can you recall being disappointed in because they had very little (if anything) to do with the source material?

N'Oni

Ian, just wondering, what do certain characters do on their days off?

SaturnFlicky (KoFi)

Have you ever considered using Chaos Gamma in the comics?

Scurvy Piratehog (KoFi)

You think that..having certain characters being "Classic Exclusive" limits some potential?

...If Classic was however allowed to co-exist alongside modern regardless of anniversaries or not, I don't think it would be an issue then but...what do you think?

Diane W

You know on a previous BumbleKast episode, you said that 6 of the seven Chaos Emeralds are the wrong colour? Well, they are gemstone-appropriate names ...Does that clear up everything regarding what colours the Chaos Emeralds are meant to be?

AWF

Tangle, Whisper, and Jewel walk into arcade. What games do they play?

Andrew D.

Did you ever want to give civilian names to other Robot Masters like the ones we got (Blues, Rock, Roll, and Tempo?)

Digamma

How far ahead do you know what artist is working on a story?

Madeline M (KoFi)

Have all the various designs of Tails’ workshop and plane hangar been the same place, or are they based on each other?

Papadripopolous

Tell us all you can and want about your rivals of aether work, what're you doing, how's it been doing it, etc pls

STANDARD Q&A

Tik Tik

In short: where are the consequences to the world and what decisions led to them not being there?

PC-The-Unicorn

Why exactly did it crossover with so many other games and wasn't simply a four way crossover ...? Why didn't the entire Sonic Boom cast partake into the crossover? Did you you want Worlds Unite to be longer then 12 issues considering how cluttered everything was? And where was Chip during this entire event?

Gawdzilla

Who would win: King Ghidorah of KoTM vs King Ghidorah of KoTM BUT each head's personality is replaced by Sonic (Center),
