India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed mounting a watch for another rain-driving low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal by Monday that could potentially end the brief respite for the East Coast and adjoining states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha from catastrophic rainfall earlier during this week. The IMD has put the system in the making under watch for intensification already, hinting at what could likely unfold over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka as also parts of West Maharashtra and the West Coast.

India’s top three IT companies — Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro and Infosys — appear to have successfully overcome the challenge posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. TCS reported a net addition of 9,864 associates in the second quarter as against a decline of 4,788 in the first quarter when the pandemic was at its peak.

Outlook for Thursday said light to moderate rainfall at most places over Konkan, Goa and adjoining Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra with heavy to very heavy falls while heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the coastal districts of South Gujarat. Insurance regulator IRDAI came out with standardised, customer-friendly guidelines for health insurance policies. These changes are implemented from October 1, this year. Tanishq on Tuesday pulled down its advertisement promoting a jewellery line called Ekatvam (unity) — which showed a baby shower organised for the Hindu bride by her Muslim in-laws — after people took to Twitter to accuse it of promoting ‘love jihad’ and being ‘anti-Hindu’. This came even though The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) said there was nothing in the advertisement that was indecent or vulgar or repulsive, to cause grave and widespread offence.

The IMD has predicted heavy to very rainfall and even extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa on Thursday while it would be heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra. This would come about after it would have dropped heavy rain on Wednesday over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and Coastal and North Interior Karnataka and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka and Marathawada.
