Guided imagery and acupuncture are very safe, but there are times that they should be avoided. Knowing these details is crucial for practicing safe and effective integrative palliative care.

The rational approach to integrative palliative care involves finding reliable evidence, focusing on safety, and harnassing (rather than fearing) the placebo response.
