The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team is now fully focused on the future. It’s January and time for Junior Days on campus for Penn State, which is roughly two weeks behind, thanks to the team’s need to build its 2026 roster in the transfer portal. Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, we’re discussing the latest recruiting news, including the report that the team is in the lead for five-star running back Kemon Spell. We’ll also discuss the other visitors coming in this weekend to meet the new coaching staff, plus the team’s travel schedule. Where have the coaches been in the last week or so? Reporter Ryan Snyder has been tracking the team’s progress, and we’ll discuss some of that intel on today’s show.

Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube! Be part of the conversation by dropping your thoughts and comments in the live chat. Of course, there’s plenty of news coming in the next few months. The team will introduce its new staff to the media, head coach Matt Campbell will get commits in the Class of 2027, and more. We’ll be here for all of it. Subscribe right now to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube channel and enable notifications so you don’t miss any of it along the way!

Penn State trending to retake Kemon Spell’s commitment

Earlier this week, Rivals national reporter Steve Wiltfong put in a pick for Penn State to land five-star running back Kemon Spell. Spell was originally committed to the program before decommitting during the team’s three-game losing streak in October. Now, he’s seemingly on the verge of joining the new staff in Happy Valley. So, what do our reporters think of the situation? Snyder and Sean Fitz will discuss what they know of the Spell situation and what they think the timeline for a decision may be for Spell.

We’ll discuss the broader impact of getting Spell back in the fold for the team’s reputation in the region and as a staff stepping up to a higher level of competition.

Junior Day visits

Of course, Spell isn’t the only player visiting this weekend, and he’s not the only elite player in Pennsylvania for this cycle. We’ll discuss the other players who plan to attend Penn State’s first Junior Day. Is the team making the right moves to make up ground on their late start into the Class of 2027? We’ll discuss how the team shortened the curve by keeping Terry Smith and key staffers on the roster.

Finally, we’ll discuss where the coaching staff has been over the last week since the transfer portal closed and the open period started, where coaches can go on in-home visits.

The Penn State football team is fully in recruiting mode for the team’s 2026 offseason. With junior days right around the corner, there’s finally time for us to discuss the team’s upcoming season. With the Big Ten schedule release next Tuesday, we’re spending today’s BWI Live Show previewing the schedule before it’s announced. We’ll discuss the most important games and highlight where we think certain matchups will land on the calendar. We’ll discuss the latest Penn State news, including a way-too-early top 25 ranking for the coming season. Plus, we’ll discuss which players we think need to develop this offseason for the team to reach those rankings estimations.

Join us for that, plus your comments on the BWI Live show! We’re live at 10 a.m. on YouTube every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Now that the team is presumably back into a normal rhythm, we’ll be posting breaking news when it happens. Subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel right now for free to get notifications when we go live or post news you want to know about!

Good news for Penn State recruiting

We’ll start the show discussing the latest Penn State recruiting news. Yesterday, Rivals national reporter Steve Wiltfong put in his prediction for former Penn State commit Kemon Spell to rejoin the team’s Class of 2027. We’ll discuss the impact of that coming true, and what Spell means to the team’s efforts to rebuild its relationships and footing in Pennsylvania early in new head coach Matt Campbell’s time as the team’s leader.

Next, we’ll shift our focus to 2026. There are several way-too-early top 25 team rankings out for next year. Reporter Greg Pickel has aggregated them all into one spot for fans, and today, we’ll talk about them. Is Penn State worthy of inclusion in a top 25 after its work in the trasnfer portal? We’ll discuss the pros and cons of the team’s work in the first months of Year One under Campbell.

Big Ten schedule release

After our weekly Best Bets segment, we’ll discuss the upcoming schedule, which will dictate Penn State’s actual rankings among the Big Ten and the nation next year. Which game do we think will be the annual White Out? Which games to do we think matter the most to the team’s final record? We’ll show you the schedule and then dissect the meaningful parts on the show.

Want to discuss that or something else? Join us live at 10 a.m. on YouTube to be part of the live chat! We’ll take questions from the audience throughout the show to get the pulse of the Penn State fansbase!

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team brought in 50 new players over the last two months to radically reshape the team for the future. First-year head coach Matt Campbell assembled his roster quickly, with a big emphasis on retaining key players from the former roster. Today, we’ll discuss how all of that went, plus we’re recapping the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Is there something Penn State can learn about the way you can win in college football from Curt Cignetti? We’ll discuss the major takeaways from how they got it done in the biggest moments, going undefeated and winning a championship.

We’ll also give you a quick recruiting update. Penn State will host Junior Days this weekend, throwing its weight fully into the 2027 recruiting cycle now that the portal window is officially closed for entry. Finally, we’ll review where the team stands from a construction standpoint this offseason.

Join us today at 10 a.m. on YouTube! Want to discuss a player or prospect with the show? Join the live chat to give your thoughts! Be sure to check out our content as we go throughout the offseason by subscribing to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel. Indiana wins a national championship: Reactions

Not only did Indiana repeat as the dark horse Big 10 team in 2025, but they also became the favorite on the way to an undefeated national championship run. What are the most important traits of the team’s success that other coaches and programs can emulate? We’ll discuss what we took away from the Hoosiers championship win over Miami.

Next, we’ll discuss the latest transfer portal movement from Miami and Indiana this morning and we’ll discuss where Penn State stands in the portal acquisition phase of its team-building process. Can they add more players if quality talent becomes available from either team? Will they try? We’ll discuss the “well, technically” portion of the portal.

Of course, the majority of this offseason’s changes are done. With that in mind, we’ll discuss Penn State’s most important portal acquisitions this year.

Penn State recruiting update and roster breakdown

The team is barreling towards its first Junior Day of the 2026 offseason and needs to make up ground in the recruitment of 2027 prospects. We’ll discuss the biggest name that’s interested in joining the team this weekend for its first event in Happy Valley. Reporter Sean Fitz will tell fans the latest on what’s up with five-star running back Kemon Spell.

Finally, we’ll recap the team’s makeup by grade. Does the team have enough balance between current and future talent to make it work now and in the future? Is the model of retention and development dead? We’ll discuss.

Following a slight hiatus due to the team being off and then the college football transfer portal window, th Blue-White Illustrated Penn State wrestling show is back to preview the Lions' first double dual weekend of the 2025-2026 regular season. Head coach Cael Sanderson's team is already the NCAA leader in all-time consecutive dual meet wins with 78 and counting. Will they hit 80 this weekend and continue their quest to pass NAIA school Grand View for the longest streak in college wrestling history with 117?

Host Thomas Frank Carr and Greg Pickel eventually get into that conversation. First, though, the pair review the start of the Big Ten season and what we've learned so far. The highlights of that conversation include new records, a new starter, and that the freshmen are doing just fine so far. Most of the talk centers on junior Braeden Davis taking over for classmate Aaron Nagao, who is now hurt and out for the season, at 141 pounds.

The Penn State football team is putting its finishing touches on the 2026 transfer portal and recruiting classes this week. The team has acquired 38 players via the transfer portal in the last two weeks, with the latest coming on Wednesday night. Today, we’ll wrap up the portal with the latest commit, then turn the page to 2027. Finally, we’ll circle back to 2026 to discuss the final prospects the team is trying to add in the late signing period. Join recruiting reporters Sean Fitz and Ryan Snyder on today’s show as they discuss the team’s pivot to try to acquire talent for the upcoming recruiting class.

If you haven’t yet, subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel right now so you don’t miss any final breaking news from the portal, recruiting, or other areas of the program. Of course, the best way to keep up to date with the minute-by-minute happenings of the program is to subscribe to Blue White Illustrated for 50% off the regular yearly price!

Penn State adds another Iowa State defender

One of the last remaining starters from the Iowa State defense in 2026 joined the program on Wednesday night. Defensive lineman Ikenna Ezeogu committed to Penn State out of the portal, making him the second Cyclone defensive lineman to join the team. We’ll discuss his skills, fit, and potential role in the team’s new-look defense.

From there, we’ll discuss the defensive line and what we see with the defensive front and how it fits together.

2027 Recruiting hits high gear this weekend

January is usually a big month for Penn State football recruiting, featuring coaching visits on the road during the week and junior days during the four weekends of the month. However, the new staff had to compress the timeline and focus on the transfer portal in earnest. Now that it’s closing, the staff will pivot to focus on 2027. Snyder and Fitz will discuss where head coach Matt Campbell and his staff will be starting today, as the staff can get out and see recruits.

This cycle is a bumper crop in the region, with top prospects like Max Hiller, Kemon Spell, and Kahlil Taylor in the state. How far behind is the new Penn State staff in the recruiting game? We’ll discuss how those relationships are playing out and how the team can make up ground.

Finishing out 2026

Finally, we’ll return to the Class of 2026 and the remaining players the team is targeting in this cycle. There are a few names who will visit the program in the next few days, which Snyder will discuss with the team today. Can Penn State make a final push for legacy wide receiver prospect Samson Gash? Join the show to find out!

The Penn State football team has nearly completed the marathon-level sprint of team building in the first two months under first-year head coach Matt Campbell. The transfer portal officially closes on Friday afternoon and the team is nearly done adding players to its roster for the coming 2026 season. On today’s BWI Live Show, we’ll discuss the work the team has left to do on its current roster, with unannounced players, and final touches from the portal. We’ll also discuss the latest news and information about the team to start today’s show.

Join us live at 10 a.m. on YouTube and be part of the action! Want to ask a question or give a comment about what we’re discussing? Put your thoughts in the live chat. If you haven’t yet, subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel right now and enable notifications.

Penn State news update

We’ll start today’s show with the latest Penn State football news and information from the last 24 hours. The team officially welcomed running backs coach Savion Huggins on Tuesday evening. Huggins was the final on-field coach the team needed to replace as part of the roster transition that happened after Campbell took over this December. The team also added a new analyst to the roster, which reporter Greg Pickel will detail for fans to start the show. Of course, today’s show is about the portal closing, so we’ll detail exactly how much time is left for Penn State to make moves and add the finishing touches to its roster before the window closes.

Portal needs and retention wins left to address

The team still has over a dozen players who have not made an announcement about their intentions in the transfer portal. At this stage, it’s safer to assume they’re staying than not, but anything can happen. We’ll detail the biggest wins from the undeclared group that would be the biggest benefit to the program if they are on the roster as of next Monday.

Which positions and players make the most sense? We’ll give ours on the show, and fans are free to give their thoughts in the live chat.

Next, we’ll talk about the team’s remaining needs in the trasnfer portal. While there are plenty of areas where the team can sharpen its roster, we’ll pick out three spots that the team can still address in the portal.

Best bets and rule changes

Finally, we’ll end the show with our weekly best bets segment. Which teams and games is Pickel interested in this week? Join the show to findout what mix of teams, leagues and games he has on his plate for this week.

Lastly, we’ll discuss the latest news from the AFCA convention and the rule changes that coaches want to implement in the sport for the coming year. How can the redshirt rule change this offseason? We’ll discuss the future of the sport and where eligibility standards are heading.

It’s been less than five full days since the last BWI Live Show, and in that time, the Penn State football team has made some significant changes to its team through the transfer portal. As always, we’ll recap the news and tell you what it means on the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube. Today, we’ll recap the most recent reversals and departures from the program, recap the transfer additions to the team since last Thursday, and then discuss the new-look Penn State defense. Cam Wallace returns to a reshaped Penn State linebacker room this week. We’ll dive into the changes from last season and why the team is likely reinvesting in the position under new Penn State defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn.

Join the show today to discuss those topics and more! We’ll be taking your questions throughout the show in the live chat. Drop your Penn State football thoughts and questions, and we’ll answer them during the 60-minute conversation.

Of course, with so much news breaking, it’s a good idea to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel right now so you don’t miss any of our breakdowns, recaps, live shows, or news. Penn State roster moves

Today, we’ll start the show with the latest Penn State roster news. After announcing his commitment to stay at Penn State, redshirt freshman running back Tikey Hayes decommitted from the program this weekend and quickly found his way to South Carolina. In a reversal, running back Cam Wallace chose to withdraw from the transfer portal and rejoin the team. We’ll discuss the impact of those moves on the roster and what it means for the Penn State running back room in 2026.

Next, we’ll recap the list of transfer additions since last Thursday after the show. The team has been hard at work gaining the commitments of key players and reserves on both sides of the football. We’ll discuss those players and give our thoughts on the most important or best additions in the last five days. Is safety Jereminah Cooper the missing piece on defense? Will Texas State’s Brock Riker be the starting center next year? We’ll discuss.

Return of LBU

Today’s main topic is a look at the Penn State defense and how the team will transform under Lynn as the new DC. We’ll primarily focus on the team’s linebacker room after redshirt freshman Cam Wallace announced that he’s returning to the team for the upcoming season. After studying the defense, we’ll discuss how the team’s infusion of Iowa State talent meshes with Tony Rojas and the Penn State roster under Lynn.

Penn State football added another wide receiver out of the transfer portal on Monday in Kieth Jones Jr from Grambling State. Instead of just breaking down the skills and areas of development for the latest addition, T-Frank takes you a step deeper. On today's video, he outlines why the team needs big, fast wide receivers in its offense. He shows you the video of Rocco Becht's passing attack in 2025 and explains why receivers coach Noah Pauley has a type. Finally, he shows how Jones fits that mold and where he will play in the offense.

The Penn State football team still needs dozens of players to fill out its 2026 roster, including key starting positions. Yet with all of that, the team is also working on building for the future with recruiting. We’ll tackle both conversations today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show. Join reporters Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz as they discuss the team’s efforts to find the right players for the short and long term in the first year under Penn State head coach Matt Campbell.

Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube! We’ll be discussing these topics, outlining where there’s still work to be done on the roster, plus taking your thoughts and questions! Portal Prospect vitis

Of course, the main topic for most fans is the constant stream of portal visitors coming to Happy Valley in the two-week blitz for player additions. We’ll discuss the latest players to visit Penn State and what they would mean to the program should they sign with the Nittany Lions. Today we’ll feature defensive tackle Xion Chapman, who visited the program this past week and spoke to Snyder about the experience.

We’ll then broaden the conversation to the other prospects that our guests think are important to add to the roster for the upcoming season. Want to submit a name for consideration? Join the chat and give your take!

Finally, we’ll outline the positions that most need to add bodies for the upcoming season. While the answer right now is “all of them,” we’ll narrow the list down to the top three or four positions that have the biggest needs on the roster.

Penn State gets another commit in the Class of 2026

In the flurry of news about the team’s portal action, it would be easy to miss the news that Penn State signed another Class of 2026 prospect this week. State College native D’Antae Sheffy committed to the program. The running back was on the previous staff’s radar but was not part of the original Class of 2026. We’ll discuss what’s changed and what Fitz and Snyder know about Sheffy, and the situation at running back.

Of course, it’s a good time to review the Class of 2026 and where it stands heading into the middle of January.

Finally, we’ll preview the next phase in recruiting for the new staff. How can the staff fit junior days into the equation with the portal at full blast? We’ll discuss the team’s next phase in recruiting to end the show.
