  • BWI Monday Live Show: Recapping Penn State's win over Minnesota and previewing Ohio State

Penn State football defeated Minnesota 45-17 on Saturday during the 2022 White Out game. Now that the dust has settled join the BWI Live Monday recap show to discuss how the game went and what it means now. Join the show and ask your questions live on YouTube! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK

Host Thomas Frank Carr, publisher Sean Fitz, and senior editor Nate Bauer sit down to discuss the game and their thoughts about Penn State's victory. As always, T-Frank wants to know what Fitz and Bauer think now that they've had time to digest and reflect upon the game two days later.

Before the full recap, T-Frank wants to ask everyone a question. Do you only care about big games? He'll explain what he means and then ask the panel and audience for feedback. They'll also be taking questions throughout the night.

From there, they'll discuss the Penn State offense and its offensive outburst on Saturday. How do the trio feel about the performance on Saturday, and do they think it's indicative of things to come? They'll also discuss the individual players that stood out to them in the win.

Sean Clifford earned a Big Ten player of the week award from the same game that the home fans booed him when he was announced as the starting quarterback. What does the panel think about this dichotomy?

Finally, the offensive line is banged up, heading into the season's most crucial game. They'll discuss the implications of the team's injury rash on the right side of the offensive line and how things went on Saturday.

Next, they'll tackle the defense and how that unit performed in the win. The starting unit only gave up one touchdown right before halftime and then bent for another once the game was out of hand in the fourth quarter. Tune in to hear what the panel thinks about the difference between the game against Michigan and Minnesota.

They'll highlight the linebackers as well. Starter Curtis Jacobs played a mammoth game for the defense, leading the team with 14 tackles. But his move to the Sam position came with the emergence of Abdul Carter at the Will linebacker.

Can Penn State keep that group together going forward? They'll discuss that as well.

Penn State took down Minnesota on Saturday night in one of the better outcomes in White Out history. BWI discusses the game live tonight at 8 pm on YouTube!

  • BWI Live Postgame: Penn State finds offensive balance, blows out Minnesota

Penn State football came out after a crushing defeat to Michigan in a big way. They dominated Minnesota in a blowout win during the 2022 White Out Game. Join film analyst Thomas Frank Carr as he discusses what he saw in the game and how the Nittany Lions finally opened up their offense and found a flow. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss the show!

    https://youtu.be/RQty6M0xXWo

Despite moving the ball in the second quarter, Penn State went into halftime with a 17-10 lead. Minnesota scored a quick touchdown before the half and then got the ball to start the third quarter.

Unfortunately for the gophers, that was as close as it would get. Penn State scored 21 points in the third quarter and raced out to a 38-10 lead to start the final frame.

The offensive resurgence was led by quarterback Sean Clifford, who played the game of his life in front of 107 thousand fans. The senior quarterback rallied from an ugly interception in the first quarter to throw for 295 yards and four touchdowns, completing 74% of his passes.

Offensive coordinator Mike Yurich finally cracked the code for using tight ends. As a result, the offense went to the position early and often. Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren caught 25-plus-yard touchdown passes and were a nightmare all night in the middle of the field.

Penn State avenges its first loss of the season in a big way. Find out how they did it on the BWI Live postgame show following the conclusion of Penn State vs. Minnesota.

  • BWI Daily: White Out recruiting and game preview

Penn State will host over 100 college football prospects for the annual White Out game this weekend. It is one of the biggest games of the year on the field and has significant implications for the program's future in recruiting. The BWI Daily Edition will discuss both on today's show. Subscribe to the BWI Daily on YouTube so you don't miss it! https://bit.ly/3mudKog

One of the most important players attending on Saturday is a four-star receiver from Roman Catholic high school, Tyseer Denmark. Denmark is one of the top players in Pennsylvania next cycle and announced that he will end his recruitment soon. His top schools include Penn State, Ohio State and others but Snyder says that the list really ends with those two programs.

So, where does Penn State stand in that order? Snyder discusses that to start the show. After he sets that up, T-Frank wants to know how good of an opportunity this is for Penn State to make an impression. With so many players and prospects on the sideline, can Penn State give its best effort this weekend? Snyder weighs the pros and cons of that situation.

After discussing Denmark, T-Frank and Snyder run through important names that Snyder has added to the list since the recruiting show on Tuesday. Those players include Ellis Robinson IV, Kaveon Keys, and more. Check out the show to learn about who those players are and why they're important.

Finally, they get to Ryan Snyder's best bets of the week. Here's this week's group of games.

    Ole Miss (+2.5) vs. LSU

    Purdue (+2.5) at Wisconsin

    Minnesota (+5) at Penn State

Snyder also sneaks in a bonus play of the week too.

Lastly, they spend the show's final section breaking down Penn State's matchup with Minnesota. What matchups can go in Penn State's favor? Which ones will hurt them? T-Frank broke down the Gophers this week and shares his thoughts.

He also comments on his concerns with the Penn State offense as it's been presented this season. If you want more of his thoughts on those articles, check them out below.

  • BWI Dailly: Penn State vs Minnesota Preview

Penn State football takes on Minnesota in a must-win game on Saturday. Not only would a win prevent a two-game slide, but it would reverse narratives about Penn State head coach James Franklin's ability to deal with big-game losses. Throw on top of that a showdown with former offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca during the White Out and you have all the makings of a high-pressure game. The BWI Daily Edition will break all of that down on the official game preview show. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss the show! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK

Host Nate Bauer and Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz start the show by discussing the things they saw at Penn State's open practice on Wednesday. Firstly, they share an update on what they saw from quarterback Sean Clifford. The sixth-year senior exited last week's game with an injury and didn't return to the field. Bauer and Fitz give fans their opinions on what Clifford's actions at practice mean. Bauer also discusses what he thinks Franklin meant earlier in the week by saying that Clifford had "earned the right" to start.

From there, they discuss other players with known injuries and how they were at practice, including guard Landon Tengwall. However, one notable absent at practice wasn't injured last week. Next, hear what the duo says about running back Keyvone Lee.

They also discuss Penn State's matchup with Minnesota. Do the Nittany Lions stand a better chance of scoring points against the Gophers? More importantly, can they stop Minnesota's heavy-handed rushing attack?

They'll examine the critical matchups in the game and finish with a game prediction to close the show.

  • BWI Daily: Have teams figured out Penn State's new offensive formula?

Penn State football has only lost one game but is in the middle of an offensive slump. So what is causing that issue? That's what Thomas Frank Carr, host of the BWI Daily Edition, digs into on Wednesday's show. Subscribe to the BWI Daily, so you don't T-Frank's breakdowns! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK

T-Frank begins the show discussing something that James Franklin said earlier this season. The show host asked Franklin if he can tell when teams get a read on his offense by a certain week in the season. To hear Franklin's answer check out the show.

From there, T-Frank uses that answer to break the season into two sections and see if he can find a correlation between opponents understanding Penn State's new identity and how they adjust to it. The numbers he found are illuminating.

He looks at the team's top three back to see how their yards-per-carry figures have changed over the season and how the quarterback is affected by that. So from there, he looks at Sean Clifford's play-action numbers to reveal how things have changed as the season has worn on and teams get more information about Penn State.

Part of play-action passing is getting athletes in space to break tackles and make plays. So, T-Frank dissects the number of broken tackles by Penn State athletes from the first and second parts of the season. Again, the numbers tell a very illuminating story.

Finally, he talks about the reasons behind these figures. Why is Penn State's output waning over time? He discusses offensive space, threats on the field, and the ever-elusive 'balance.'

  • Recruiting Show: Penn State White Out list and who's potentially on commitment watch?

It’s White Out week for the Penn State football team, who is coming off a crushing loss to Michigan in a big game last Saturday. How does that affect recruiting? The BWI Daily Recruiting Show discusses the new On300 for the Class of 2024 and the White Out list on today’s show. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don’t miss the show! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK

Everything affects recruiting, but no single thing will win you or lose a group of players. So how do you measure the impact of the loss to Michigan? Host Ryan Snyder and Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz discuss that idea to start the show. For Fitz, the discussion isn’t about losing to Michigan; it’s about a larger narrative around the program he examines.

However, individual cases can change the balance of one situation or another. For Snyder, he finds Anthony Speca’s recruitment fascinating now that the four-star linebacker will visit Michigan and Penn State in back-to-back weeks. He even discusses who he thinks the leader for Speca’s services is at this point.

The White Out isn’t the only list this week. The On300 for the Class of 2024 got an update this week, and the next crop of talent heading into college football is crystallizing. Some interesting players that intrigued Fitz and Snyder include interior lineman Liam Andrews and tackle Kevin Haywood, among others.

It wasn’t all good news for Penn State prospects, though. Players like Quinton Martin and Dominic Nichols dropped in the rankings, which should surprise most recruiting fans. However, Snyder spoke to Charles Power, the recruiting director for On3, about most of Penn State’s prospects and gave the reasons behind the drop for critical prospects.

Finally, the duo discusses the White Out list. While they don’t dive into each name, they do examine five names each that they think are exciting players to watch this weekend. Some players include Quince Orchard pass rusher Jaylen Harvey and defensive end Brian Robinson out of Ohio. Fitz also highlights a contingent of offensive linemen from the Buckeye state coming to the game. Throughout the show, they also highlight players that should be on commitment watch before, after, or during the big recruiting weekend.

  • BWI Daily: Penn State vs Michigan Monday Recap Show

Still not done venting? The BWI Daily Monday show is here for Penn State fans to discuss the team's first defeat of the season. Now that we're 48 hours removed from the 41-17 defeat, what context does Blue White Illustrated have to share on the game? Join host Thomas Frank Carr and senior Editor Nate Bauer as they discuss the game and take your questions. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss the show! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK

Bauer, the eternal optimist, looks at the game differently than most fans and joins T-Frank to share his thoughts about how the game went and how it could have been different, save a few costly mistakes. T-Frank will discuss how Blake Corum, the Michigan offensive line and JJ McCarthy found a way to do things that Penn State's offense could not. He'll also give his thoughts on Sean Clifford, Parker Washington, Mitchell Tinsley and the goal line fades that cost the Nittany Lions points on Saturday.

Meanwhile Bauer will share his thoughts on Penn State's propensity to drop the next game following a tough loss in a season. Can the Nittany Lions rebound?

From there, they'll get into a specific discussion about the offense on Saturday and the larger problems that plague the Nittany Lions on that side of the ball.

Next, they'll discuss the defense and how Penn State allowed 418 yards rushing to Michigan in one of the most lopsided defeats in recent memory for Penn State head coach James Franklin.

There will also be plenty of time for your thoughts and opinions. Fans who join the show can interact with the hosts and ask specific questions about the game or the second half of the season. They'll discuss Minnesota, the White Out Game, and if the defense is genuinely susceptible to the Gophers as they were to the Wolverines.

  • Penn State steamrolled by Michigan: BWI Live Postgame

Penn State football suffered its first loss of the season, losing 41 to 17, falling with a thud. Penn State gave up over 350 yards rushing in the game. Penn State is now 5-1. Join the BWI Live postgame show on YouTube to discuss what happened in the game. Host Tom Hannifan and film analyst Thomas Frank Carr take your questions and break down the game.

Penn State managed only 14 plays in the first half, compared to Michigan's 50, yet was only down by two scores at halftime. However, two big runs by Michigan blew the game open in the third quarter, where Manny Diaz's defense gave up 168 yards on the ground.

Penn State's offense was overmatched, gaining only 22 yards rushing from its trio of runners before the game script was out of hand. However, quarterback Sean Clifford was good on the day, hitting several passes on third down to Mitchell Tinsley and a 48-yard pass to Harrison Wallace. But the team had very little consistency on offense and couldn't keep up with the Wolverines' onslaught.

The fourth quarter didn't yield better results, with Clifford going down and backup Drew Allar finishing the game.

  • BWI Daily: White Out list preview | Best Bets

While Penn State football takes on Michigan this weekend for a critical game on the schedule, next's week's home game is the biggest recruiting game of the season. The 2022 White Out list is already shaping up, and recruiting insider Ryan Snyder dishes out the information fans want to know about the upcoming batch of recruits.

However, Snyder and show host Thomas Frank Carr start with the Friday night trip that Snyder is taking to watch more Penn State football prospects. Snyder is staying local this week, traveling to Lancaster to see Nittany Lion tight end commit Joey Schlaffer to face offensive line prospect Deyvid Palepale. The 6-2 305-pound offensive line prospect is an up-and-coming player in the state that Penn State recently offered. As always, Snyder will share player highlights next week.

Next, they dip into the witeout recruiting list. They touch on the linebacker group that will come to the game next Saturday, which is something Snyder and Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz discussed on Tuesday. Aaron Chiles, Anthony Speca and the rest of the 2024 linebackers make up a deep and talented group of players. Snyder starts with that group before covering running backs and the offensive line.

Beyond position groups, individual players stand out as well. Top-170 defensive end Brian Robinson will visit next weekend, as well as top-15 wide receiver Ryan Wingo. While it's always a strong list of prospects, next weekend's White Out list is shaping up to be a star-studded group of players, including Quinton Martin and Omilio Agar.

Finally, T-Frank and Snyder break down Ryan Snyder's Best Bets for week seven of the college football season. Here are the games Snyder is picking.

  • BWI Daily: Practice Observations |Official Penn State vs Michigan preview with Nate Bauer and Sean Fitz

Penn State takes on Michigan Saturday in Ann Arbor for the biggest game of the 2022 season so far. Senior Editor Nate Bauer and publisher Sean Fitz discuss the game, the DNA of both teams and give a final prediction. They'll also provide observations of what happened at Penn State practice this week.

Fitz and Bauer start with a conversation about the game's overarching themes. How important is this game for the season and the narrative about this team? They'll also dive into how close the series between Penn State and Michigan has been under Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and Penn State's head man James Franklin.

Next, they discuss what they saw at practice this week. Penn State held an open practice on Wednesday, and some important advances in the situation surrounding tight end Tyler Warren, receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith and offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad. They'll also give their impressions of the tone around the practice and Franklin this week. Bauer also digs into one of Franklin's comments about "big boy football" that they'll have play this weekend.

That conversation about playing a Big Ten-style game this weekend morphs into a discussion about what Penn State wants to be versus what they are right now. Bauer and Fitz discuss the archetypes of teams that the Nittany Lions face and which one they would most like to resemble. Where do they land on that spectrum this year? The duo explains.

Finally, they discuss the Michigan Wolverines and what Penn State faces on Saturday. They describe the overall personality of the Wolverines and what they've done this season. Next, Fitz dives into the numbers for the Michigan offense and discusses the major players that make an impact, including JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum. They also have a conversation about the nature of the Michigan offense and how they have been able to get the game script they want all season long. With Penn State playing a similar brand of football this season, something will have to give on Saturday.

They close the show with keys to the game for a Penn State victory and a prediction from each analyst. Fitz discusses the Nittany Lions pass rush and how he thinks Manny Diaz will attack that team. Next, Bauer highlights the showdown of the run defense against Corum. They hit on the matchups that will matter on defense before giving game picks to close the show.
