Penn State fans are always looking for the next great Penn State player, and the Nittany Lions coaching staff could be hosting that player this weekend. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the BWI Daily Edition every Friday to recap the week in Penn State recruiting and give a preview of the players visiting Happy Valley for the game the next day. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss the show! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK
To start the show, host Thomas Frank Carr brings up a fresh news topic on Friday. The Nittany Lions offered several players scholarships late in the week, and Snyder reviews who they are and what fans need to know about them right now. Of course, the most notable player would be 2024 running back Jordan Marshall.
Next, they discuss the confirmed visitor list coming to Saturday at the Penn State vs. Northwestern game. Snyder was busy this week tracking down prospects and confirming which players planned to attend the game, which he shares with T-Frank. Several notable players include Bishop McDevitt wide receiver Rico Scott, fast-rising defensive lineman Rodney Lora, and several 2024 offensive line prospects that Penn State is trying to amass with current commit Cooper Cousins.
Next, they get to the main event, Ryan Snyder's best bets! Each week, Blue White Illustrated's budding sharp picks several games to bet on and gives the audience his plays that week. So here's the recap for the upcoming week in college football.
Washington (-3.5) at UCLA
Iowa State (-3) at Kansas Jayhawks
East Carolina (-8) at South Florida
Penn State (-25.5) vs. Northwestern
Northwestern (+25.5) at Penn State
As always, the featured game of the week is the Penn State game. As usual, Snyder doesn't like the odds on the game but gives his best assessment of what fans who want to bet on the Nittany Lions game should do. From there, he and T-Frank discuss the game and how they think things will play out. T-Frank watched the Northwestern offense and defense this week and came away with distinct impressions about what they do on both sides of the football.
First, he shares what he knows about the Northwestern running and passing games. Next, he and Snyder discuss the Northwestern defense, and T-Frank discusses why the Wildcats have given up so many yards and big plays.

Penn State faces Northwestern on Saturday to start the remainder of the 2022 Big Ten schedule. To get fans ready for the game, senior editor Nate Bauer hosts the BWI Daily Edition with publisher Sean Fitz to preview the upcoming contest. Part of that preview is a look back at the week in Penn State football to review where the Nittany Lions stand heading into the game.
This week the news, while subtle, was significant. There have been rumors that starting quarterback Sean Clifford would not play this weekend, and backup Drew Allar would get the start. While Fitz and Bauer don't have anything concrete to report, they have noticed odd things happening around that story. So they discuss the situation before moving on to practice observations.
Bauer starts open practice observations with what he and Fitz saw of Clifford during the 20 minutes of open availability. Next, they discuss the players with known injuries this week, including tight end Tyler Warren and interior lineman Hunter Nourzad. That conversation gets context from James Franklin's comments after practice, as does the situation with defensive tackle Coziah Izzard. They discuss how the tone has changed around Izzard and defensive end Smith Vilbert, both of which haven't been available to start the season.
Next, they review where the team stands coming out of non-conference play and reflect on the lessons they learned playing Central Michigan last weekend. Naturally, that leads into the preview of Northwestern. It's been a tough start to the season for the 1-3 Wildcats, with three straight home losses. Bauer and Fitz discuss the team's shortcomings and how they have an unusual identity this season compared to the traditional Northwestern plan of attack.
Finally, they put all of this in context with Penn State's upcoming bye week and then give their score predictions for the game.

The first month of the Penn State football season is in the books, and its time to take stock of where the team stands heading into conference play on Saturday against Northwestern. So, host Thomas Frank Carr does that. He gives you five offensive and defensive players whose stock has gone up and the handful of players whose stock has gone down. Subscribe to the BWI Daily Edition, so you don't miss an episode! https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK
Penn State's offense hasn't been lights-out but several players have taken a significant step forward during the first month of the 2022 season. T-Frank starts his list with an unlikely pair of players that many fans might think should be higher. See why he has Nick Singleton, and Kaytron Allen listed fifth.
Next, he heads to the offensive line for a player that has changed the way that Penn State runs the football, thanks to his effectiveness in specific situations. While this player isn't playing the best football among the starting offensive linemen, his presence is essential for the success of the running game's health.
While T-Frank focused on the running game to start, the rest of the offensive players will be passing game contributors, starting with number three. Check out the show to see which player has exceeded the high expectations from the offseason to land on the list.
The second player on the list shouldn't surprise fans who have been hoping to see him play for over a year.
Finally, T-Frank highlights the breakout player of the Penn State offense through the first month of the season, the freshmen excluded. This player has finally realized his abilities on offense and has played a pivotal role in several wins this year.
After discussing the players whose stock has gone down, T-Frank switches to the defense.
He starts with another freshman who is making an impact for the Nittany Lions now that his exceptional talents are beginning to shine through.
From there, he highlights Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter. The freshman didn't have the same expectations in the preseason as his classmates at running back, but T-Frank has a different reason for keeping him lower on the list.
Next, T-Frank transitions to the secondary to highlight one player who has been making splash plays for the Nittany Lions routinely this year. From there, he targets an entire position.
Lastly, T-Frank highlights the breakout player of the defense and the entire team. Check out the show to find out which player that is.

Hear the final word on Penn State's 33-14 victory over Central Michigan on the BWI Daily Edition. The BWI Daily is live every Monday at 8 pm to discuss the previous game and take your questions! Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK
Host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Baur sit down for a conversation about where Penn State stands one month into the season after a frustrating offensive performance against a MAC opponent. Penn State turned the ball over three times on defense and picked up a muffed punt but didn't manage to pull away from Central Michigan until the fourth quarter. T-Frank and Bauer will discuss their impression of the game and what happened to keep Penn State from running away with the game.
But it wasn't all bad. Bauer and T-Frank will discuss freshman Kaytron Allen's performance, gaining 111 yards on only 13 carries and breaking seven tackles along the way. They'll also discuss the state of the Penn State running back room one month into the season.
Defensively, Penn State stymied Central Michigan and, once again, batted away over ten passes. They'll discuss the standout players and progress that the Nittany Lions have made since week one. T-Frank will highlight freshman Dani Dennis-Sutton's progression and why he thinks that the five-star defensive end deserves to see more playing time during meaningful game action.
Lastly, they'll discuss the special teams situation and the duality of what's going on with Penn State's third unit. They'll highlight the punting prowess of Barney Amor and the field goal kicking concerns that Penn Sate faces this year.

Once again, Penn State struggled to blow out a MAC team at home early but eventually got it done against Central Michigan 33-14. Check out what happened on the BWI Live postgame show with Thomas Frank Carr: https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK
Penn State got to a hot start with a 14-0 lead against Central Michigan in the first quarter but stagnated in the second, allowing the Chippewas to get 14 points and only scoring another touchdown. However, the Nittany Lions kept chopping wood, getting another touchdown in the third and another in the fourth before putting in backup quarterback Drew Allar. Penn State also struggled to overcome penalties that killed drives in the middle of the game.
The Nittany Lions benefitted from four Central Michigan turnovers, including a muffed punt that set up a go-ahead touchdown. However, the Penn State secondary came to play with two interceptions and more than ten pass breakups.

Friday on the BWI Daily Edition means Ryan Snyder stops by to give the audience his weekend best bets in college football. But Snyder is also Blue White Illustrated's recruiting insider so he'll drop knowledge on this week's news and preview the upcoming recruiting visitors for Central Michigan. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss the show!
Snyder joins host Thomas Frank Carr, who starts the show by asking Snyder about an important new recruiting offer for 2023. Penn State is still looking for players at several positions, including defensive end, offensive tackle, and receiver. That last position is in flux for the Nittany Lions, and Snyder fills T-Frank in on a new player Penn State is targeting. Hear from Snyder to learn more about Taeshawun Lyons. Finally, Snyder highlights another offer this week at one of those critical positions in Keyshawn Blackstock.
The list of visitors for Central Michigan is short, but important players are visiting this weekend. Snyder goes through the top recruits visiting on Saturday before he and T-Frank transition to the next topic.
Snyder chooses one recruit each weekend to see in person, and this week, he's headed to Pittsburgh to check out five-star athlete Quinton Martin. Snyder says that the 2024 running back is the prize of not just this class but possibly multiple years. But will any Penn State coaches join him this weekend? Snyder gives T-Frank the rundown of where the staff is headed on Friday night and which recruits they'll see play.
Finally, Snyder and T-Frank get into the show's main event, Ryan Snyder's Best Bets. Here is the action for this weekend that Snyder has targeted.
TCU (-2) vs. SMU
Eastern Michigan(-6) vs. Buffalo
Old Dominion (-4.5) vs. Arkansas State
Northwestern (-7) vs. Miami (Ohio)
Penn State (-27.5) vs. Central Michigan
Of course, the featured game of the week is always Penn State. This week T-Frank gives a preview of what he saw on film from Central Michigan. He discusses which players and what schemes stood out for the Chippewas and how he thinks Penn State should attack offensively.
While the Nittany Lions didn't need much from the receivers last week, can this group put together a breakout performance against their last MAC opponent? T-Frank and Snyder highlight Parker Washington and the depth players behind him as key factors on Saturday. If they can put together an explosive afternoon, it will be a short day's work for the starters.

Penn State faces Central Michigan as a heavy favorite at noon on Saturday. It's the final non-conference game of the 2022 regular season for the Nittany Lions, and to get you ready for the game, Sean Fitz and Nate Baur discuss the game and give you the official Blue White Illustrated preview of the matchup. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube, so you don't miss a show!
It was a week full of events for the Penn State football media, but was it a busy one in terms of news? Fitz and Bauer discuss what they heard and didn't hear this week as Penn State faces their second non-power five opponent of the season. Bauer points notes a suspicious lack of questions about the opponent this week that set the tone for how the media talks about this game.
Next, they briefly introduce this week's opponent before discussing their observations of Penn State's practice on Wednesday evening. Fitz and Bauer were on opposite sides of the field, so they give their perspectives on the offense and defense at practice. According to Fitz, one of the most significant differences this week was the tone.
Next, they step back and take a wider look at Penn State through three games of the season and where they think the Nittany Lions stand in the final week before Big Ten play. They discuss the offensive changes this year and how they've experienced Manny Diaz's defense.
The final game of September marks the fourth game of the season and is an appropriate time to examine the freshmen game counts this year. While the players that are integral to the team are obvious, they discuss the other players that have played in two games and those that haven't. How many will get the chance to see the field this weekend?
Lastly, they dive into the Central Michigan film and discuss what they know about the team. Bauer examines the offenses' ability to string together drive and put up points, despite some issues against inferior competition. They highlight Central Michigan's quarterback, running back, and secondary as central figures in the game to come.
Finally, they give their score predictions and preview the events coming up this weekend on YouTube and bluewhiteillustrated.com.

Penn State's sound defeat of Auburn last Saturday sent a shockwave of activity through the college football ecosystem. Plenty of analysts picked Penn State to win, but no one expected them to dominate the Tigers the way they did. After studying the team through three weeks of the season and listening to the chatter this week, the host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, has a definitive answer as to what that game meant for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State is back
But what does that mean? Is Penn State a national contender now that just put the Big Ten and the rest of the world on notice? Not so fast, T-Frank says. He has a different meaning for how and why the Nittany Lions are "back."
Next, he explains why the freshman class of 2022 is pivotal to keeping Penn State back. First, he describes the two distinct waves of the class and how the first wave of first-year Nittany Lions have already made their presence felt in the first three games. While all eyes are on Nick Singleton, he highlights the future of linebacker Abdul Carter and the path to the highest level of success for Carter in the next month.
The second wave of freshmen, which is larger than the first, will help define Penn State's ceiling as a team. While Dani Denni-Sutton and Zane Durant are the high-profile names of the group, T-Frank focuses first on Omari Evans. The speedy wide receiver nearly made the first wave of players but has been an inconsistent contributor on offense. So the fact that he's on the list surprises T-Frank, and he thinks it says something about the precarious nature of the receiver room this fall.
Lastly, he discusses Allar and his development since arriving in Happy Valley in January. How good has he been, and how far ahead of schedule is the 6-5 freshman? T-Frank gives his thoughts.

It was a big week for the Penn State football team with a high-visibility win on the road against SEC opponent Auburn. But what does that win do for recruiting? That's the focus of today's BWI Daily Recruiting show. Subscribe to BWI on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3LtYmD3
Host Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz, two recruiting veterans of the Penn State football beat discuss what transpired over the weekend with Nittany Lions recruiting in the wake of a blowout win. While one win is great, the discussion turns quickly from what happened on Saturday to what it sets up in the future.
However, one player, four-star safety Dakaari Nelson, was at the game this weekend as a guest of the Tigers and spoke with Snyder about his experience on Saturday. The Nittany Lion commit has taken a handful of visits to other schools since committing to Penn State and Snyder asked him about that this weekend. He relays what the Alabama native said and gives his perspective on the situation.
Next, they discuss the recent update of the On300, which had positive and negative movements for the Nittany Lions. Snyder and Fitz discuss te updated rankings and what stands out to them from a Penn State perspective.
They discuss other topics, including which players Snyder has recently seen in person, including five-star lineman Jven Williams. They also break down why both analysts put in a pick for a 2024 prospect to land with Penn State.
