Penn State football hosted several important recruits for their official visits over the weekend, but so far, it's been a quiet start to the week. Host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, reviews what we know so far about how Penn State's efforts went from the weekend. From there, he shifts topics to talk about the second-year players on the current roster whom he spoke with earlier this year.
The BWI Daily Edition previewed a critical weekend on Friday where many of Penn State's top prospects, like linebackers Tony Rojas and Ta'Mere Robinson, were on campus. He reviews what he and insider Ryan Snyder expected from the weekend, which isn't what we've gotten so far. Despite that, there's some positivity from Penn State commits online, which he reviews.
To get more intel on how things went, check out Snyder's conversations with Robinson, his Q&A with tackle Evan Link, and more.
After that, he puts recruiting news down for the day and gets into the show's main topic for Monday. After speaking with several of Penn State's second-year defensive players, he found an interesting theme that emerged from his conversations. When asking linebacker Jamari Buddin, safety Zakee Wheatley and defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg what the most important thing they were working on this offseason was, it wasn't anything physical. Instead, all three discussed what they were learning.
He dives into what that means and what football players focus on to become better at their sport.

Penn State football enters a key recruiting weekend with eight high-priority official visits on Friday and Saturday. It's a weekend that could produce more than one commitment for the program.
To break it all down, BWI recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins host Thomas Frank Carr to preview all the top prospects expected on campus this weekend, including Ta'Mere Robinson, Tony Rojas, London Montgomery, King Mack and many others.
Snyder and T-Frank also discuss the latest surrounding three-star DL Tyriq Blanding. After taking an official visit to Penn State last weekend, Blanding announced that he's set to announce his decision on Saturday. Blanding is down to Penn State, Michigan, Oregon, Syracuse and West Virginia.
James Franklin and his staff also hosted their first midweek prospect camp this past Wednesday. Ryan wraps up the show discussing a few of the top prospects who were in attendance.

Blue White Illustrated senior editor Nate Bauer and host Thomas Frank Carr take questions from the audience for their weekly mailbag show. Today they discuss the name image and likeness questions submitted by message board members at bluewhiteillustrated.com. In this video, both questions deal with NIL.
First, the duo is asked which unexpected Big Ten school might compete with Ohio State atop the Big Ten in terms of NIL money spent. Bauer suggests that Michigan State and head coach Mel Tucker as the team to keep an eye on. Next, T-Frank brings up Maryland as a school with possible ties to large donors that can make waves.
From there, they discuss the current ruleless landscape of college football with NIL. The viewer wants to know what conference or governing body can pass rules to reign the spending and even the playing field for each school. Both men agree that the US Congress will have to step in and make a ruling about the situation. If they were to do that, it would likely lead to an NFL-like model in college sports, complete with a labor union and a salary cap. The only way around the issue would be through anti-trust laws and legislation.

Penn State recruiting is reaching a fever pitch during June with multiple events weekly. The Nittany Lions hosted several official visits last weekend, a seven-on-seven tournament Wednesday, and have some potentially good news coming next weekend. Host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, discusses all that and more on today's show.
T-Frank starts with news this week about Lift For Life returning to Penn State after a forced hiatus thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, he gives the date and time of the event for fans interested in attending.
Next, he dips into news that came out Tuesday night from On3 recruiting insider Ryan Snyder. Three-star defensive tackle Tyriq Blanding announced that he'd be choosing his school on June 18th, which is Saturday. Snyder placed a pick for Penn State after the announcement. So, T-Frank reacts to that news on the show and gives his thoughts on the 6-1 defensive tackle.
While that recruiting news deals with the immediate future of Penn State, the next topic on the show deals with the past, present, and future. Monday, T-Frank wrote an article about the evolution of the receiver prototype at the college and NFL levels. He gives an overview of that article on the show and explains in detail what is fueling the revolution.

The BWI Daily Edition recruiting show is back to give you vital information about what went on in Penn State recruiting over the weekend. Host Greg Pickel and insider Ryan Snyder discuss the key events, including a committment, a de-commitment, and new offers going out to campers from this past weekend.
They start with the good Penn State recruiting news from the weekend with three-star receiver Yazeed Haynes committing to the program. Next, Snyder recaps the timeline of Haynes' summer explosion in recruiting before moving on to how On3 will classify the speedy 6-1 receiver. From there, they discuss what is next or isn't next for Haynes.
Next, Pickel and Snyder recap what they heard from Penn State's official visitors this past weekend. They touch on four-star Alabama safety Dakaari Nelson, four-star tackle Evan Link, and three-star defensive tackle Tyriq Blanding among others. Aside from the reactions they gathered over the last 24 hours, they talk about the likely timeline for each player.
It's not all good news for Penn State this week. That's because the Nittany Lions lost one of their four offensive linemen this week to a commitment flip. Three-star lineman Joshua Miller changed his commitment to Georgia Monday afternoon. Snyder recaps what Miller had to say about the decision and how things evolved over the last two weeks.
Finally, Pickel and Snyder review the players that earned Penn State offers after their latest Elite Showcase camp on Sunday. Snyder then reviews Penn State's seven-on-seven camp on Saturday. Lastly, Snyder presents some troubling information for Penn State about four-star linebacker Tony Rojas.

It was a jam-packed weekend for Penn State recruiting and host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, recaps all of it on the show. He gets into the good and bad news before looking ahead to the rest of the summer with his preview.
T-Frank starts with breaking news this afternoon that three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller de-committed from the program and flipped his commitment to Georiga. T-Frank breaks down what happened and gives his opinion on what might have enticed Miller from a positional and schematic standpoint.
Next, he gives an overview of the good news. Rising three-star prospect Yazeed Haynes committed to Penn State Sunday night. So, T-Frank gives a quick scouting report of the uber-fast wide receiver. He also gets into some of the ways that Haynes mitigates the loss of four-star target Rodney Gallagher.
From there, he transitions into the show's main topic, looking ahead to the rest of the uncommitted players in the Class of 2023. He picks out three offensive players and six defenders that he thinks are must-gets for Penn State. Of course, the Nittany Lions don't need to get all of them, but they represent positions or skill sets that Penn State needs to fill out its class. He starts with the offense and then transitions to the defense to finish the show.

Penn State recruiting enters the first big official visit weekend of the summer today. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the BWI Daily Edition to preview the weekend's events, including a seven-on-seven tournament and a prospect camp. He and host Thomas Frank Carr take you through the names and events you need to know.
T-Frank and Snyder start with Penn State's seven-on-seven tournament they're hosting Friday morning at the Penn State football complex. Next, Snyder breaks down the top schools in attendance at the event and the notable players from each institution. After that, T-Frank digs into the nature of tournaments like this and what added benefits they can provide the Penn State coaching staff beyond talent evaluation. Finally, Snyder explains the broader seven-on-seven landscape.
Next, they get into the weekend's biggest event, official visits. Eight uncommitted prospects for the Class of 2023 visit campus this weekend, starting on Friday. Check out the complete list in his notebook from earlier this week.
From that list, T-Frank picks several intriguing players he wants to learn more about from Snyder. For example, where does three-star defensive tackle Tyriq Blanding fit into the defensive tackle board? Will high-priority tackle prospect Evan Link commit after this weekend? And who else is in the picture for Alabama safety Dakaari Nelson?
Lastly, Snyder updates the linebacker situation in the Class of 2023. Penn State's top two targets, Tony Rojas and Ta'Mere Robinson, are seemingly going in different directions. Despite the murky outlook, Snyder tries to shed as much light on the subject as possible.

Penn State head coach James Franklin met with the media yesterday, and the dominant topic of conversation was name, image, and likeness. Today, the BWI Mailbag is all about that conversation after Blue White Illustrated premium members latched on to the topic.
If you'd like to submit your question to the weekly Thursday mailbag show, join On3 for just one dollar and get 12 months of premium access. Host Thomas Frank Carr puts out a message board thread every Wednesday night asking for questions.
T-Frank and senior editor Nate Bauer start the show by discussing their conversations with Penn State coaches on Wednesday. Then, they get deeper into some of the topics they brought up on the BWI Daily Edition yesterday, filmed directly after the availability. T-Frank brings up the receiver position and what sort of players the team is looking for, based on his conversation with receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield. Next, Bauer discussed the offensive line and coaching the position with Phil Trautwein.
From there, they dive into the mailbag. Again, listeners were eager to discuss NIL. Questions dealt with the NIL collectives, which one the university works with, and how the future of college football might change.

Last weekend, Penn State's two camps brought hundreds of prospects through campus, including some that left with a scholarship offer from the school. The BWI Daily Edition: Recruiting Show recaps the weekend, tracks the fallout from the event, and gets fans caught up on all the week's important news.
Host Greg Pickel starts with the significant takeaways from insider Ryan Snyder about the Whiteout camp on Saturday. Then, Snyder gives his impressions of the event, who stood out, and what he noticed during the event. One of the biggest takeaways for Snyder was that there weren't more high-level prospects at the event. It's not a problem unique to Penn State but has been a growing trend around the country. Snyder explains what he thinks is going on and why this trend isn't good for either side.
From there, he discusses the only Class of 2023 player to get an offer from the Whiteout camp, receiver Yazeed Hayes. The 6-1 prospect ran a blazing 40-yard dash and was a standout in the drills. Next, he recaps his conversation with Hayes and explains what comes next for the three-star receiver. He also highlights other players, including 2025 running back John Forster.
Next, they discuss some news that isn't as good for Penn State. Snyder put a pick in for Clemson with four-star offensive tackle Zech Owens. Why? Snyder explains.
Finally, they discuss some of the other Whiteout camp events that deal with the committed players. Snyder was impressed with several offensive linemen, including 2024 center Cooper Cousins.
