With USC and UCLA scheduled to leave the Pac-12 in 2024, the overall strength/depth of the conference Oregon Football will play in will be weaker than it was before. This will be true, though in one sense over exaggerated, assuming the PAC-12 (10?) stays together or potentially adds other schools from, say, the Mountain West Conference. If the Ducks remain in the PAC, would it be a league where they could have a reasonable shot of returning to the College Football Playoff?
On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses the potential long-term prospects for Oregon Football to remain relevant and competitive on a national scale. The Ducks would certainly have a path to the playoff in a new-look Pac-12 that could potentially feature San Diego State and/or other Mountain West Schools. Their lone trip to the CFP and recent efforts are demonstrative that this is the case.
After the commitment of 5-star QB Dante Moore, there are still plenty of recruiting headlines to follow for Dan Lanning as he and his staff look to assemble a strong first class in Eugene. With several DB commits already landed, the next priority on defensive should be in the trenches. Spencer looks at some of the names to follow in the coming weeks/months that Lanning and DC Tosh Lupoi have been going after.
