In this episode, Zach wants you to know that you need to have a logo or artwork for your podcast. On this podcast, Zach did an artwork himself. Someone made him an egghead and the rest, he did it all by himself. Zach will give you options on image artwork for your podcast. First option is if you don’t want to pay and you want to do the work, Zach would say go on canva.com (it’s absolutely free) and create your artwork from there. Another option which is kind of like Photoshop is a program called Pixelmator. If you want to make it more professional, Zach suggest for you to go to Fiverr. This is a site created that people could go on there and pay for the task. If you want to pay a little bit and get some nice image artwork made, fiverr.com and if not and you want it to do on your own, canva.com.

In this episode, Zach is giving this link careerinaudio.club/edison where you can find the things he will be talking about in this episode. It was a research on podcast listening in 2018. It was done by Triton Media on behalf of Edison Research. They surveyed Americans aged 12 and older for two thousand people in the months of January and February 2018. There are 26% who listen to a least one podcast in the last month. And there are 19% who increase the speed of their podcast so that they can get through them faster. Zach find both very interesting. The next one is, people average 7 podcasts per week. And 80% of listeners typically listen to most or all of a podcast. Breakdown is, 45% of the people said they listen to most of a podcast while 35% of the people said they listen to all of a podcast. Those are some of the big numbers that Zach got from this research.

In this episode, Zach says that another reason you can do a podcast is because you will find the time and you can batch. Batching is a great key in getting a good long standing podcast up and going. You can just produce a bunch of content, one after the other episode and after other episode. Now onto the main topic, Zach will talk about the one way to promote your podcast that no one talks about. If you want to get a head start why not promote using paid advertising. Pay for a little bit of exposure if you are really interested to do podcast for a long time. Zach know a lot of people that only promote their podcast in social media or just word of mouth and can get a nice group of listeners. Zach was able to do that, leverage people he knew, leverage people that he interviewed and leverage their social media followings but it won’t hurt getting a paid promotion for your podcast. Zach says that you might get thousands listen thanks to promoting it with paid advertisement. Go promote and advertise your podcast.

In this episode, Zach wants you to know that iTunes Store is the premier place to submit your podcast so that is in their catalogue and it can be searched by others with an iPhone. The biggest reason is their Algorithm for showing what Podcast they want to show on their front pages. It carries a lot of traffic with it. If your Podcast ends up on any one of their pages, it’s going to create more traffic for you. The best way to get the best possible results on their page is to filter all your traffic, make sure the links that you’re giving out goes to your iTunes. Start promoting the iTunes base links to get into the front page of iTunes.

In this episode, Zach wants to tell you in this episode that there is room for you to be an expert. First, If you see somebody else being successful with the podcast that is on the same topic as you, then that means there’s a market for that topic, so go for it. Next is not everybody knows the other guy. That same guy is not filling up the feed of every person interested in your podcast topic. The moral of this is, there is room for more than one expert in your field of expertise. There is certainly more than one. Zach wants you to realise that there are other people in the same niche you are in and just hustle. Keep getting your message out there. People will listen to you regardless of how many people are also in your topic. Do not be afraid. Do not let this people scare you. That can be you and will be you if you wanted to be YOU. Again, Zach wants to say that there can be more than one or two or three or four or five or ten or twenty experts in your field and you could still be successful talking about same topic in your podcast.

In this episode, Zach will talk about the best microphone he can recommend that is within budget. He wants to make it a point that you don’t have to be in a studio every single time. You can give up a little bit (just a little) of sound quality, if it means you’re consistent, if it means your content is good. In this episode, Zach will talk about payoffs in your content. This does not matter in terms of what platform you use to create content. It could be audio, it could be video, and it could be written content. First way is to gift free gifts payoff. Second way is intertwining content from the beginning to the end, in other words, you need a good bookend. Give a payoff to the people who are listening all the way through. There is a payoff for those who are loyal listeners. If they’re listening from the first second of your podcast to the very of your podcast or if they’re in the first minute of your radio show to the very last minute of your radio show; then give them a payoff that makes them feel very cool for being around the entire time. Give them the same content you have been giving them whether it be audio or video. The way you write, give them something at the beginning, same topic at the end.

In this episode, Zach wanted to give one tip (the most important) for people that are interested in radio and podcasting alike as to pertains to interviewing. Sometimes we hear more out of the interviewer than out of the interviewee, which is a huge no no. Zach have been coached by many bright people in this business and they all given him different cardinal sins of interviewing to avoid. The one he will be telling you is not always the most important one to his coaches but thinking of all the cardinal sins of interviewing, if this is not the number one then this is super close to the top. That is if you are interviewing someone, they are the star, not you. If you bring on a guest, make this your thought process that that interviewee is now the star. Ask the questions and get out of the way. You obviously want to listen to your interviewee as well. When in you’re in a position where you ask your interviewee to come on and give their insight, let them give their insight. It sounds better and kind of endears you to that particular guest’s fanbase as well. Your listeners want to hear from your guest and their followers want to hear them too. If you don’t overtake the interview, you might have new listeners for life.

In this episode, Zach think that the appropriate title for this episode is “What to do when YOU can’t do it all” to get to the point of doing Podcast and what happens behind the scene. Podcasting is not just recording your podcast, you still need to build a website, post your podcast on your website, post to iTunes and Libsyn and all the things that get up in the way. He talks about one thing that he learned which is getting a VA just like what he did to work on those things around. Taking on the rest of the job in Podcasting like listening to the audio and writes up a description and, editing the audio to make it sound good. Why? His answer is that your time is worth something and you’re not going to break the bank anyway. Do the parts of the podcast that you want to do, that you really enjoy doing and if you don’t enjoy the other parts of it, don’t give up on the podcast completely. Just delegate the other parts of the podcast that you don’t like doing to someone else.

One is to make sure you have a baseline for consistency. Once a week, twice a week, or daily. Then as a bonus, whenever your inspired, add more content.
