If you're at all like me, it's easy to get mad when your wife accuses you (unjustly!) of something. It's easy to quickly see why it isn't true, fair, or even appropriate for her to have said that horrible thing! It's even easier to respond by pointing out just how horrible of a thing it was to say!
But this isn't the Christian way.
Husbands, you are called to love your wives. unconditionally. This means you have to love her even when she is being unfair or unjust. (Hint: you are also commonly unfair and unjust!)
But how do we do that?
Join me in this episode as I talk about one major way to love your wife - love her through her accusations. This is hard. This is also essential. Putting those two together means you might need some help. I offer you two particular tools in this episode that will transform your marriage conversations if used properly.
Your wife needs your unconditional love, not your corrections.
It's hot! (At least in the northern hemisphere.)
If you're at all like me, it's harder to stay calm when my face feels like it's melting off. Everything the wife or kids say or do seems to cut more sharply.
If you still blame your family for when you get overheated on the inside, it might be time to take a closer look in there. Our emotions are ultimately coming from our choices. We can choose how we frame everything that others say and do.
Join me in this episode as I open up some of the main ways we men lose our cool with our wives, and what to do instead. Additionally, I cover a bit of how to stay cool with the kids too. Turns out they are both related and need similar skills!
Men need men. Our wives are not men. We need more than our wives.
Sounds obvious, right?
Yet so many men do not make the time to form deep friendships with a group of faithful men committed to improving themselves. We find ourselves "busy" and prioritize everything else - to our (and our family's!) loss.
Join me in this episode as I explore not only why having a group of men that you can really count on is so critical, but I share some practical advice for how to do it. I'm not claiming it's easy, but I am claiming that it is essential!
At least, if you want to show up and really take care of your wife and family in the way that they need!
This episode is Part 2 of episode 143. I strongly recommend you listen to that episode first!
There are many in our society who desperately want us all to believe that gender is merely an adjustable value. Even within the Catholic church, there are many who fail to embrace just how stunningly different men are from women. Women are different from men! And not merely in plumbing, but in deep and powerful ways. In various ways from how we use words, evaluate actions, and look at the world. When we try to evaluate our wives using the lens of a man or when we try to evaluate a husband using the lens of a woman things get ugly. Yet we do it all the time! Join me in the this episode as I continue explaining some really critical differences between the genders and how they relate to our God-given duties in marriage. I'm going to be direct and blunt. I'm going to speak using language intended for a man to understand. This means, ladies, you may not understand what I mean correctly. :) This episode continues the wisdom that I wish I would have had available in my marriage many years ago.

Some of us come from really abusive and dark families. We grow up with a lot of wounds, anger, and resentment. Without realizing it, we can often replay our own childhood in our own families, to our horror!
But God has a plan for everyone. You have your own baggage. You have your wounds and your history.
God's grace is bigger.
Join me in this episode as Guy Morris shares his amazing and heartbreaking story of how obedience to God lead him from an abusive childhood where he ran away to the streets to an amazing set of accomplishments. Even when it all seemed hopeless, God not only had a plan but accomplished more than Guy could have dreamed.
This story will touch your heart.

There's a lot of guys who are happy to go camping with their kids - and a lot who are not. Whether you are a veteran or complete novice at camping, I want to invite you to listen to this episode.
Camping is a powerful way to help your children grow, mature, and develop into kinder, smarter, and more loving people. It can be very affordable and a lot fun.
And for some people, super intimidating. But it doesn't have to be!
Join me in this episode as I discuss Why camping is so important, and lay out some practical advice to make a really simple but successful camping trip. Don't make this complicated!
God has a plan for every single one of us - but we often don't do a great job discerning it. It can often take struggle, effort, and even failure to find that path.
Yet God did not leave us unaided. Built into your being is a unique blend of passion and drive that, when harnessed, will propel you forward. This is true whatever your personality or strengths.
Join me in this episode as Mr Jeremy Ryan Slate and I explore his passion and journey through life. While keeping it light (and even a bit silly) we touch on some really powerful choices and moments we all come to: how to stay connected with your wife through difficult times, how to pick the pieces back up after a failure, and how to work on improving myself to get the needed perspective. There are a lot of really practical pieces of advice he offers all of us.
