This episode’s guest is Martin Broad, an accountant Broad who fell victim to Guillain-Barre

syndrome, a rare disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks your nerves. It can eventually spread, eventually paralysing the whole body, which happened to Martin to the point he could only communicate with his eyes.

This episodes guest is former journalist, coach and leader, Carey Hauri.

Born in Switzerland, Carey immigrated with her family to Australia when she was six years old. While she now calls Australia home, she’s also lived in Switzerland, Hungary, South Africa and Spain, visited more than 30 other countries and learnt four languages.

At the age of 17 a family secret rocked her world and shook her personal identity.

This episodes guest is Samuel Munday a former professional cyclist.

Diagnosed as Type 1 Diabetic at the age of 11 in 2009 and started to compete overseas in International cycling competitions in 2016.

After signing some big contracts he moved to Girona, Spain in 2019 to pursue his professional cycling goals.

After growing up with diabetes to become a professional athlete and overcoming a horrific cycling accident with a car Sam has some amazing tips on mindset and overcoming adversity.

It is my absolute honour to introduce our guest for this episode, Anna Lyon.

Anna suffered trauma at a very young age when she lost her father, but that was only the beginning of what would soon become a difficult and devastating childhood when she was preyed upon by someone who should have been protecting her.

This was made even more difficult when she confided in family members about what had happened, and instead of protecting her, they covered it up.

This compounded trauma led to a long and difficult journey which recently culminated in a truly heart breaking result.

In today’s episode Anna shares:

-      The devastating loss she suffered when she lost her father as a child

-      The horrifying sexual assault she experienced from someone close to her family.

-      How her assault was covered up by family members

-      The Long term effects her trauma had on her even as an adult

-      The emotional process she went through trying to see justice served.

Our guest is Brenda Denbesten, a chemical engineer with over 15 years' experience in the mining and manufacturing industries, and a Women in STEM advocate and driver for change

Brenda is a best-selling author of ‘the FIFO wives tale’s’ and creator of 'Chronicles of a Female Engineer', a YouTube series that demystifies what an engineer does plus how to get ahead in traditional and male dominated fields.

But one day, years so, nearly saw everything she had worked towards snatched away when she was confronted by police about a crime she did not commit.

In today’s episode Brenda shares:

At this point we all know that the events in our formative childhood years can have long reaching effects, often influencing us decades later.

So what happens when your Mum goes through life threatening cancer when you are just going through your teenage years?

That’s exactly what happened to Erica Smith.

Erica is an Associate Professor in Chemistry at the University of New England (UNE), Armidale. With a long history and decorated career Erica is currently the Chair of the University Curriculum Committee and Chair of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Chemical Education Division and has so many more achievements.

But she was just 13 when her mum was diagnosed with CML (chronic myeloid leukemia) in 1984. She underwent intense radio and chemotherapy, and was eventually offered a bone marrow transplant as her only option to survive.

Erica lived through this, but it wasn’t until she was much older that she realised just how much of an impact this challenging time had had on her.
