Welcome to Episode 390 of the Championship Vision Podcast! I'm your host, Coach Kevin Furtado.
Today, we continue our Basketball Moneyball: The Hidden Advantage series, where we uncover the habits, leadership principles, and championship culture that separate great programs from the rest.
Today's guests are the perfect example of why this series exists.
Together, Bobby and Dana McWilliams have built one of the greatest basketball traditions in the state of Tennessee at Upperman High School.
Coach Bobby McWilliams enters his 33rd season as head coach with an incredible 843 career victories, three TSSAA State Championships, five state runner-up finishes, eleven state tournament appearances, and induction into both the Tennessee Tech Hall of Fame and the BCAT Hall of Fame.
Coach Dana McWilliams has spent 29 seasons as a head coach, compiling 660 career victories, 11 district regular-season championships, 13 district tournament championships, five region championships, seven state tournament appearances, four Final Fours, and led Upperman to the 2025 TSSAA State Championship. She was also honored as the 2024 Tennessee BCAT Coach of the Year.
But today's conversation isn't just about wins, trophies, or Hall of Fame honors.
It's about building a family, creating a championship culture, and discovering the hidden advantages that have allowed two outstanding coaches to sustain excellence while leading together for decades.
Whether you're a coach, teacher, athletic director, or simply someone who loves basketball, leadership, and family, you're going to leave today's episode with ideas you can immediately apply to your own team and your own life.
