Today's podcast is a plea to restore civility and community to change the course of this nation. The only way to change well individually and as a country is to truly listen to each other in real-time.
It feels like we’re constantly bombarded with noise—voices shouting over one another, each claiming to be correct, and no one listening. Yesterday, I turned off the news because I couldn’t take it anymore. It didn’t matter if it was CNN, MSNBC, or FOX—what I saw was the same: division.
But it wasn't always this way. There was a time when civil discourse thrived when community organizations—like Little League games, PTAs, and community centers—were where we found a connection, not conflict. We gathered with our neighbors, sought common ground, and valued each other’s perspectives.
I think back to my hometown, Crosswicks, where everyone worked together, no matter their persuasion, for the common good. But somewhere along the way, our collective Crosswicks became 'crosswise.' And in that division, we’ve risked extinguishing the flame of our democracy. We need to rediscover the power of community—real, face-to-face connection—not the emptiness of social media. It's time to listen again.
Today's podcast will look at how we can do that. If interested in reading the associated blog, click this link
