Being an avid team roper himself, we talk about the importance of having an agent who understands all things farm and ranching and how that can help you get the right policies. He also explains the recent spike in the cost of insurance and how the economy and inflation affect the price of policies. This was an eye-opening conversation and a useful resource for anyone with questions about how insurance works.

With all the big rodeos and roping being live-streamed now, it's never been easier to watch the best guys in the world compete at a very high level. That said, for most ropers that should be for entertainment and not what you should be modeling your roping after. The best examples of a solid roping foundation can be found at the rope horse futurities and how those guys use their horses to get into position and set the run up so their heelers have the best opportunity to catch.
Brock Hanson is among the handiest guys ever to swing a rope. He is a National Finals Qualifier on the head side and is just as talented with a heel rope. Brock is one if not the most sought-after helpers for all the rope horse futurities across the country. It was great hearing how he prepares for the number of runs he gets at those events and how he stays sharp mentally to deliver for all the guys who trust him to get the job done.
After a trip to Magnolia, Arkansas to do a clinic with the rodeo athletes at Southern Arkansas University, I wanted to shine some light on what a great program Rusty Hayes has put together. From the indoor arena to the top-of-the-line training tools, the opportunity to improve your skills in the arena is endless.
Clay Logan is an incredible horse trainer that got his start cowboying in Arizona. He has since won numerous AQHA and APHA World Titles and has been honored with an AQHA Lifetime Membership. He has had his hand in training some of the top horses in the team roping world that have made it to the big stage in Las Vegas at the NFR. We chatted about those horses, what it takes to run a training program like a successful business, and some stories about his early days of cowboying in Arizona. Clay has a wealth of knowledge in all things horses, this will be an episode you want to tune into!
With Fall and cooler temperatures on their way, I wanted to discuss a few different ways to deal with a horse that might tend to buck or be fresh when you get on them. Warming those horses up properly can prevent you and that horse from getting hurt or into a sticky situation.
Billy is part of the famed Myers family from South Dakota ultimately known for owning and breeding the world-renowned barrel sire Frenchman's Guy. He is now making his own splash in the western industry by spearheading the Platinum Medal Futurity which has recently joined forces with the Gold Buckle Futurity. We had a great talk about the family business, horse bloodlines, and his plans for the Platinum Medal Futurity moving forward.
I wanted to share my opinion on how to boot your horse up when the arena conditions are muddy and less than ideal. Also, why it's important no matter what the situation is to have some type of protection on your horse's legs.
Cade Rice is a three-time AQHA World Champion, back-to-back World Champion heeler in the ARHFA, and one of the most talented horse trainers in the industry. It was great to hear how he started training horses and some words of wisdom he learned from a legendary heeler at a young age. We got to talk a lot about family, roping, and how far the rope horse futurity industry has come in a relatively short time. Cade is a great horseman, a great friend, and I enjoyed our conversation, I hope ya'll will too!
