I sat down with two of the best up and coming team ropers in the game, Tyler Tryan and Nicky Northcott. We talked about what their first experiences out on the rodeo trail and how it has prepared them for this up and coming year where they have their sights set on qualifiing for their first NFR. They both come from legendary bloodlines with world champions on both sides, so the may seem like rookies to the average person but they are far from it, and their knowlege of team roping reaches far beyond their years. It was really cool to have the next generation on to see what their mind set is and how they prepare. I see big thing in both of these guys future and excited to see what they achieve in the years to come.

I sat down with rodeo legend Jerold Camarillo to dig into the rich history of team roping—tracing its roots back to California and following its rise into the heart of modern rodeo. Jerold made the National Finals Rodeo an incredible 17 times and was crowned a world champion in 1969, and he brings that experience to life with stories you won’t hear anywhere else.
From the evolution of roping techniques to the growth of the sport and the cowboys who built it, Jerold shares a firsthand look at how things have changed—and what’s stayed the same. We talk about the camaraderie, the grit, and the culture that defined his generation, along with lessons that still matter for ropers coming up today.

Rich Skelton dominated the sport of team roping from the mid 1990’s to the early 2000’s winning 8 consecutive World Titles as a heeler. Hailing from Electra, Texas, Rich along with his partner Speed Williams ushered in a new era of team roping, that wasn’t just fast, it was consistent. His list of wins at major jackpots and rodeos goes on for pages, and I enjoyed having him on the podcast to talk about his life and career.

I got to catch up with Korbin and Cooper fresh off a huge win at Rodeo Houston, that moved them all the way to number 1 in the world standings. We talk about what a win like that does for their young careers, potentially setting them up tpo qualify for their first NFR, along with other hot topics in the team roping world like partner changes and the crossfire rule. I couldn’t be happier for these two young men and I am thankful they took the time to join me on the podcast!

My guest this week needs no introduction, his nickname says it all “Champ”. When anyone talks about the Mount Rushmore of Heelers alot of names get tossed around but one that is never left out is Clay O’Brien Cooper. With seven World Titles and a major win list that goes on for pages, few have done it better and none have done it as humble as this man, and I am honored to have him on the podcast to talk abou his life.
