In this episode we interview a Collegiate athlete, Grant Calcaterra.
Grant has an extraordinary story! He played at Santa Margarita Highschool and went on to play at University of Oklahoma and played 3 seasons with them and was going to be drafted. He was ranked as the nation's No. 6 Tight End, had 958 yards (No. 13 among TE's nationally), on 57 receptions as a senior.
But adversity struck when he endured 3 concussions from 2018-2019. Grant has a passion for firefighting and after the 3rd concussion decided that the risk was not worth the reward, so he went on to pursue firefighting after retiring from football. A decision he made on his own, which speaks volumes of his character, especially for his age.
Then after being out of football for a year, he began to see his former teammates and fellow players going on to play in the NFL and succeeding. This put an emotional toll on him, knowing that he could have been playing along with them and succeeding as well. So, as Grant puts it, he had to scratch the "itch" to play football again.
He then finds Noah and begins a training/treatment protocol as well as a specific nutrition protocol to set him up for success in re-entering into the world of football.
After working with Noah and another former NFL player who trains Grant as well, Grant feels more and more confident to get back out on the field and achieve his goal of playing in the NFL. Not to mention that he saw a concussion specialist after his 3rd concussion but went back to him after not playing football for a year and his numbers have gone down, which brings him even more confidence to get back out on the field.
Grant is an astonishing and humbled human that we hope to see in the NFL soon and look forward to seeing his wonderful journey!
