Chatting Tatum episodes

  • Episode 11: I'm Going to Slap Vince Vaughn in the Streets
Woof! This movie fucking SUCKED, there's just no way around it. Sin and Jake really tortured themselves to bring this to you, so I hope you're all fucking happy. Topics of extreme torment include the Paul Blart Extended Universe, Stand Your Ground laws, and the very specific inferiority complex that motivates all shitty white men everywhere.

  • Episode 10: The Sea Breeze Through Your Hair
Ah yes, *Dear John*, an ode to summer love! Walks on the beach, kisses in the rain, subtle and insidious military propoganda, what else could you want? Jake and Sin feel the metaphorical sand between their toes with topics such as noted asshole Nicholas Sparks, Scandanavian pop sensation Abba and, inexplicably, Keanu and Sandra's amazing turn in *The Lake House*.

  • Episode 9: G.I. Joe and The Rise of Tactic-Cool
Sin and Jake were fully prepared to embrace the ooey-gooey cheese of a summer blockbuster, but it's impossible to love a thing that doesn't love itself. We talk about an array of topics including Vince McMahon's fuckery, running in wedges, and if there's such a thing as a leftist action film.

  • A Short Announcment
    Hi all,
This is Sin and Jake. Sorry that we’ve been radio silent. Due to both the current national dialogue about anti-black police brutality as well as some personal strife, we decided to skip last week’s Chatting Tatum. We plan to return on our regularly scheduled release day, Wednesday July 17th.
We also want to use this platform to encourage you to get involved in the Black Lives Matter movement wherever you are. Here in Seattle, we specifically are asking folks to sign on to the petition by Covid-19 Mutual Aid Seattle, a network of organizations and individuals who came together in response to COVID-19 to demand an abolitionist, anti-racist public health response to the COVID-19 crisis. These demands of the petition are as follows
1)To defuned the Seattle Police Department by 50%
2)Use those funds to expand investments in making communities safe, prioritizing community-led health and safety strategies. Things such as full access to affordable housing, community-based anti-violence programs, trauma services and treatment, universal childcare, and free public transit for example.
3)To release and not prosecute all protestors arrested.
You can sign on to this petition at tinyurl.com/defundspd.
Also please follow Covid-19 Mutual Aid on Instagram at @covid19mutualaid, on Facebook at @covid19mutualaid, and on Twitter at @covid_mutualaid. If you are able to, you can also find access about several black led marches that you can join as well.
Thanks, and we’ll see you all soon.

  • Episode 8: I'm Not Mad... Just Disappointed
*Rocky*, *Ong-Bak*, *Bloodsport*. This is a list of great fighting movies. Not on this list? 2009's *Fighting*. Jake and Sin reckon with their crushing disappoinment of Dito Montiel's 2nd Channing Tatum outing with topics such as the joy of watching a college educated white guy get his ass kicked, the terrible example of romance that *Say Anything* has left in it's wake, and *Comedy Bang! Bang!* but make it martial arts.

  • Episode 7: Oh Boy, Guys.... we're a mess.
War really sucks, you know what I mean? At least, that's the dark, visceral lesson at the heart of 2008's "Stop-Loss." Turns out, a raw, gritty, and thoroughly bleak critique of Bush era militarization makes for a pretty dour movie and, by extension, podcast. Jake and Sin attempt to find moments of light in the dark such as one Boneyard Match, Joseph Gordon Levitt Watch(™), and Foghorn Leghorn by way of Ryan Phillippe.
Content Warning: This movie deals with combat, PTSD, domestic violence, and death by suicide. All of these topics are briefly mentioned in the podcast.

  • Episode 6: Not Noah Wyle
Did you know that Stuart Townsend made a movie about the 1999 WTO riots? No, of course you didn't. But, fear not, because he did and it stars/features our topic of intense scholarly study, Chan Chan Tater Tot. So, join Sin and Jake as they discuss topics such as the the directing skill of Dorian Gray, Dawson's Creek (but make it Anti-Facist), and the Seattle skyline before our current dystopian predicament.
Content warning: There is a brief discussion about physical trauma that leads to a character losing their pregnancy.

  • Episode 5: Wait... I Thought This Was a *Good* Movie
Now we're cooking with gas! Jake and Sin step *into* the cultural phenomenon of "Step Up" and stare into the bright abyss of a career defining moment for Mr. Tatum. We gently dance upon various topics including rose colored nostalgia, the long legacy of teen dance movies, and Channing's "It" factor.
