The d’Arenberg winery and the Osborn family boast a history in the McLaren Vale wine scene dating back to the mid 1800. In 1969, not long after man walked on the moon d’Arry Osborn was informed that they had won the prized Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. Since then d’Arenberg has gone from strength to strength under d’Arry and Chester Osborn, d’Arry’s son. From the time he took over the helm at d’Arenberg in 1984, Chester has continued stirring the d’Arenberg ship towards success, the only thing outshining the brilliance of his wines being perhaps the glint of the d’Arenberg trophy cabinet (or maybe the d’Arenberg cube…or Chester’s extravagant dress sense)… Chester Osborn joined me in the Cellar Door to share the d’Arenberg story and to give some insight into what it takes to be a premier wine maker. A massive thanks to Chester for joining me.
