Our fifth value at CMC is surrendered obedience. Humility is not just about thinking about yourself less but it’s about dying to yourself and emptying yourself so there’s room for God to fill you. Active humility is a daily posture and attitude of the heart. It's an active pursuit. It's about a posture and a position. He doesn’t need us to be able. He needs us to be empty. God must increase in our lives and we must decrease. Our fourth value at CMC is surrendered obedience. When God speaks, He will call us to obedience. How many of us have been called by God to do something and it scares us to death? Obedience to God is a scary place to be. God is never going to call you to do something that He isn’t going to provide for. Through the story of Jonah, we see the effects of Jonah's disobedience. However, we also see that God never quit pursuing Jonah just like He never quits pursuing us, even in the midst of our disobedience. Your disobedience does not forfeit your second chance with God. We are going to be a church who commits to surrendered obedience. Listen to this sermon from the fourth part of our We Are series.

Our third value at CMC is grateful generosity. God has called us to be generous. We want to be a church that is open-handed with what God has given to us. We give because He first gave to us. Being generous isn't just about money though but it's about our hearts. What would it look like if CMC was a spirit-led giving church instead of a rules-based giving church? Our second value at CMC is intentional community. Intentional community is not just something we thought of. Intentional community is the heartbeat of our Savior. From the point of creation of man, God created community. God did not want man to live in isolation. He wanted community. While the perfect community was destroyed with the fall of man, God sent His Son to die for us to reconcile us back and restore the puzzle of perfect community with Him one day.
