In 1 John 5, John reminds believers to guard themselves from idols. When we rest in who Jesus is, this is when we find joy, peace, and contentment. We cannot get sucked back in by what we’ve been delivered from. When we realize who we are in Christ, we understand that what we have is worth protecting. Satan’s goal is not to get you to worship him; Satan’s goal is to simply cloud and distract your relationship with God. Don't let idols distract your relationship with God. Listen to this sermon from 1 John 5 in the eleventh and final part of our In The Word - 1 John series.
In this tenth episode of Let's Go, Pastor Jared and Pastor Brandon look back on our message in 1 John 5:18-20 and how we fight our battles as Christians. We fight our battles by trusting in the fact of who God is. When we fight in truth, specifically in worship, we get to put truth to music. Worship your way through the battle. Whether its through music, prayer, or whatever you do, worship with the Truth. This is how we fight our battles.

In 1 John 5, John reminds believers about us knowing that we are of God. If we are of God, then the enemy cannot touch us. If we have trusted Jesus as our Savior, then we can declare 1 John 5:19. We can have confidence in knowing that what Jesus did was enough. What we need to be thankful for is that we eternity is set as a believer. There's nothing that can take that away as a follower of Christ. We are in this world but we are not of this world. The enemy doesn't stand a chance against God and His Word. We fight our battles by resting in Jesus. Listen to this sermon from 1 John 5 in the tenth part of our In The Word - 1 John series.
In this ninth episode of Let's Go, Pastor Jared looks back on our message in 1 John 5:13-15 and how it is possible to know and be secure in your salvation. In 1 John 5, John reminds believers that we can have confidence in knowing our salvation. John wants us to know that we can know. It's not what we do that qualifies our faith but it is who we place our faith in that qualifies it. God wants us to know that we are saved. God wants us to know that we can be saved and rest fully in that. May our prayer be from Mark 9:21-27, "God, I believe but help my unbelief." Listen to this sermon from 1 John 5 in the ninth part of our In The Word - 1 John series.
In this eighth episode of Let's Go, Pastor Jared and Chase look back on our message in 1 John 5:6-12 looking at the power of our testimony. Our testimony is this: that God gave us eternal life and this life is in His Son. This changes everything. It's important to take this truth with you everywhere you go and share it. We are called as believers to go and share the gospel until everyone around us hears the Good News.

In 1 John 5, John reminds believers to remember that the testimony of God is greater than the testimony of men. This is the testimony that God gave His Son for us and because of that we can have eternal life. Every time we do anything we are being led by the testimony that Jesus is God and He is our Lord and Savior. This testimony is personal and portable. It is distinctly yours and no one can take it away from you. There is power in this testimony. There is power in your testimony. What is your testimony? Let your testimony be His and have power in it. Listen to this sermon from 1 John 5 in the eighth part of our In The Word - 1 John series.
In this seventh episode of Let's Go, Pastor Jared looks back on the final message in our We Are The Church series. When our obedience is combined with God's power, lives are changed. As a church, we strive to be a city on a hill that shines a light that others may see Jesus. We don't want to just leave a legacy but we want to leave opportunity. Will we leave an opportunity for our children's children? Will we be the ones willing and able to leave an opportunity for the generations to come? How can you open your hands and allow God to use you as a vessel?

As we conclude our We Are The Church series, we look back on and celebrate the 128 years of history at Chestnut Mountain Church. We see, as followers of Christ, the importance of not just leaving a legacy but leaving an opportunity for our children and our children's children to saturate the world with the Good News. We must let go of what God is trusting us with and give it back to Him. This is what brings life. This is what grows a community. This is what grows the Kingdom. We don't want to be a church that is only concerned with surviving, but we want to let go of what God gives us and give it back. This is when we thrive. When our obedience combines with God's power, lives are changed. Listen to this sermon as we look back on our history and look forward to what God has store in this fifth and final part of We The Church.
In this sixth episode of Let's Go, Pastor Jared looks back on Pastor Brian's message about our fourth pillar at CMC of sending disciples for Christ. Let's consider seating capacity versus our sending capacity. Every time we meet we need to focus on sending and looking at our sending capacity. We are to be sending disciples for Christ because the Great Commission is to GO. Sending disciples for Christ is a lifestyle. This is how we will saturate the world with the Good News. As we are being sent, does our obedience bring Jesus to His feet? Sending and going is usually uncomfortable, but will you step out and be obedient?
