More and more Aesthetic Clinicians are adding an ultrasound device to their toolkit. In this week's Aesthetics Mastery show Dr Tim considers the reasons you might choose to invest in ultrasound, and weighs the benefits up against its inevitable impact on profitability.

Dr Tim examines to what extent ultrasound is likely to build up your knowledge of anomalous anatomy; prevent vascular occlusions; help manage complications including differentiating between haematomas and VOs; as well as diagnosing lumps and nodules.

He also asks the important question about whether ultrasound might pay for itself if it makes you feel safe injecting advanced areas.

The location of the superior and inferior labial arteries is obviously very important if you're going to avoid causing a vascular occlusion. But, lip anatomy studies seem to contradict each other about the arteries' most common position.

Dr Tim was thinking about this issue whilst making his lunch this week (as you do!) and a cherry tomato seed inspired him to film an analogy for this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show which should help reveal the truth about this vital lip anatomy.

In last week's show Dr Tim shared his mental model of whether vertical or horizontal lip injections are more likely to cause a vascular occlusion. He referred to a paper that has been cited as evidence that vertical techniques such as tenting are more risky.
