Are vertical lip injection techniques like tenting more or less likely to cause a vascular occlusion than horizontal lip techniques? The industry is split and there is evidence to support both perspectives.
In this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show Dr Tim talks lip anatomy, and shares his mental model of how the two lip injection techniques are more or less likely to occlude the artery.
Do you largely use vertical or horizontal injections?

If your patient develops a red nose after you've treated with dermal filler to lift their nose tip, there's a danger you've caused a pressure necrosis which must be treated.
In this week's Aesthetics Mastery show Dr Tim explains the science behind this not uncommon complication, how to spot patients who should not be treated in the first place due to the risk, and how to diagnose and treat if it does occur.

Dr Tim has seen a number of atypical vascular occlusion cases recently following dermal filler injections that were very stressful for the injectors because they didn’t present in a textbook way.
So he thought it would be useful to dedicate this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show the 8 different mechanisms by which vascular injury after dermal filler can cause necrosis.

Negative comments on Aesthetic Clinicians' social media before and after pictures is becoming more common place, and there's a real danger that the fear of haters will stop injectors promoting themselves online.
In this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show Dr Tim and Miranda share some of the critical comments they've received on this very YouTube channel, and dig into: how we can reply constructively; when is the right time to block/delete; and how to still show up in your marketing despite the hater threat.

Chin augmentation is often thought of as a relatively safe procedure.
But Dr Tim has recently seen three serious vascular occlusions following chin augmentation, so in this week's show he gives us an chin anatomy refresher, and also outlines 5 steps to stay safe during chin augmentation.
Dr Tim shares whether he uses needle or cannula for chins, and also explains the more complex reversal process that the clinicians had to go through following their submental artery vascular occlusions.

There's been a recent trend on social media of injectors demonstrating 'dissolving' hyaluronic acid filler using saline. But would this actually work under the skin, and should clinicians consider adding saline to their reversal toolkit?
In this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show, Dr Tim answers these questions by experimenting with some blue spaghetti and a handheld blender!
He also tackles common queries about filler reversal, including: what actually is hyaluronidase; how do the the various brands - Hyalase, Amphadase, Hydase, Vitrase, Hylenex - differ; and does hyaluronidase also break down the natural tissue?

Managing patients' expectations recently came up in a poll as the number one thing aesthetic practitioners' struggled with. Whether it be patients complaining that their partners can't see a difference after asking for a subtle look, or asking for Angelina Jolie lips, it can sometimes feel as if the weight of expectations will drown injectors.
In this week's Aesthetics Mastery Show Dr Tim unpacks the topic of managing patients' expectations. He outlines exactly what injectors should ask and say in the consultation if they want to avoid 'underwhelmed' complaints altogether.
