It's been a hot minute since our last Chill Out Session drop, but we haven't forgotten about all of you who enjoy your dance music on the cooler side. In fact, our latest edition of Chill Out Sessions takes a nostalgic step back to our Mixtape Sessions. These sets were laidback affairs but leaned towards a more commercial realm of music from that era. With the recent explosion of the Afro House genre, many of these tracks find a better-suited home in this series.

DJs seem to have only recently discovered percussion as if it were something new, yet it has been a staple in dance remixes since the 90s, lending these songs a warmer vibe. Back then we called it Progressive House, which will undoubtedly resurface as the genre du jour of the moment any time now /s

While some of these tracks indeed fall into the Afro House category, most do not. However, this doesn't diminish their quality, beauty or resilience. On the contrary, they are exceptional, and we're all about top-notch dance music here at Party Favorz. Nevertheless, many of these tunes are so laid-back that they might not fit the dance floor vibe but rather serve as background music while you unwind during your drive home from work or need some zen time. While we'll use some of these songs in our Club Fusion series (because we stay on trend around here), many wouldn't make the cut but deserve to be aired.

I won't spoil the surprise by going into detail about each track today. Instead, I invite you to let the music be a delightful discovery for your discerning ears. Even if our previous Chill Out offerings weren't your cup of tea, I encourage you to give this one a chance. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

In our latest Chill Out session, "Serendipia," we dive into a world where Deep House, Melodic House, Organic House and Lounge intertwine to create a uniquely soothing experience. This episode carefully avoids the superficial, instead offering a deep, authentic dive into the soul of chill music.

Kicking off with Crew Deep's "A Whole New Level" (T.Markakis Remix), the session immediately establishes a mood of relaxed sophistication. The track's deep bass lines and subtle, energetic beats set a tone that's both calming and invigorating. It's a perfect example of how Deep House can be both soothing and stimulating.

Following this, "Free" by Because Of Art, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, takes the listener on a melodic journey. Its blend of smooth rhythms and airy synths creates an atmosphere that's both dreamy and grounded, a hallmark of our Chill Out sessions.

It's been nearly a full orbit around the sun since Party Favorz graced your playlists with our last Chill Out Session mix. We figured the universe was giving us a nudge to drop another one for those seeking a mental escape. Clocking in at just over two hours, this latest installment is finely-tuned to serve as the ideal soundtrack for your chill-out sessions.

Musical genres are like living organisms; they evolve. In keeping with the ever-changing landscape, this new Chill Out mix incorporates an eclectic blend of Melodic House and the freshest genre on the block—Amapiano. For the uninitiated, Amapiano burst onto the scene in South Africa in the mid-2010s, carving a unique niche for itself. Picture it as a sumptuous cocktail of deep house, jazz, and lounge vibes, all underscored by throbbing basslines and ethereal synths.

But what really sets this mix apart? "Be The Change" serves as the linchpin of the experience. It's not just any chill-out track; it's the perfect chill out, intertwining each musical element so fluidly that the transition from one tune to the next becomes almost imperceptible. That's the beauty of it—the lines blur, creating a seamless auditory tapestry that envelops you in its embrace. And that, we reckon, is the essence of a true chill-out session.

Over the years, Party Favorz has been a sonic playground, experimenting with various versions and flavors of chill out. As we rush towards the end of 2022, I wanted to bring some serenity into your chaotic life with "As One," the much-anticipated addition to our Chill Out Sessions series. Designed as a tranquil counterpoint to life's chaos, this set came together through a meticulous year-long curation process.

While the initial plan was to release multiple sets throughout the year, the immense effort required for our other expansive collections meant that a second installment kept getting delayed. But good things come to those who wait.

Throughout the year, I've been carefully siphoning off tracks, amassing a treasure trove of Melodic House, Progressive House, Microhouse, Deep House, and Lounge gems. As the year drew to a close, it was finally time to sift through the selections, adding a few last-minute discoveries to craft a set that clocks in at over five hours of pure, unadulterated bliss.

I understand that the sheer length of "As One" could easily warrant splitting it into two separate sets. However, creating additional cover art for a second volume would consume precious time that's already earmarked for a slew of upcoming projects. Our roadmap between now and year's end is jam-packed, and we're committed to maintaining a smooth workflow to deliver quality music sets across various genres. The upside to this one-stop-shop approach? You get a voluminous Chill Out experience that you can pause and play at your leisure. Whenever you hit play again, you'll be greeted by fresh, yet familiar tunes that continue to soothe the soul and quiet the mind.

Party Favorz is kicking the new year off with 'A Feeling' a winter chill out music journey which starts off very lowkey before picking up. There are some points where you might think the roof is on fire but everything quickly simmers down to a low boil.

I began compiling tracks for the next Disco House and Peak Hour series and had a lot of great songs that didn't quite fit into these categories. It was something I had been anticipating since Beatport expanded their genre categories to include Funky House, Jackin House (already a Traxsource staple), Melodic House & Techno, Organic House / Downtempo, and Garage.

For the most part, the way they divide up the genres is meaningless. While some songs have a truly identifiable rhythm, most do not. When you add in Breaks / Breakbeat, Electronica, House, Indie Dance, and Minimal and Deep Tech genres, there's not enough differentiating most songs. Some elements are identifiable allowing for categorization but most fall into a grey area.

The biggest benefit to adding in all these different genres is that it allows DJs to sample more sounds while finding great music that in the past may have gone unnoticed. For that reason, I applaud Beatport (and to a greater extent JunoDownload) for providing better options for discovering new music.

What I am sure about is that many of these songs spread across different genres are simply excellent — even if they don't quite fit into the Party Favorz category list. I pulled together all my favorite tracks and started mixing while discarding songs that I couldn't make work.

The result is not the usual Lounge / Chill sets of the previous efforts but more like the earlier Deep Edition and Mixtape Sessions series Party Favorz was known for ten years ago.

To be certain, this is not like previous efforts so I want to ensure expectations are met. This is a darker journey but a much more satisfying one that ends on a high and jubilant note.

Up next will likely be Disco House followed by Peak Hour before we get into Dance Club and Circuit & Anthems. For now, put your slippers on and a few logs on fire while you kickback and enjoy some winter chill out music.

As we near the end of the 2021 summer season, Party Favorz is cooling things down with our latest Chill Out session, Summer Farewell.

This set features a wide variety of laidback styles including Deep House, Electronica, Lounge, NuJazz, Minimal, and Progressive House to help you slow down and prepare for Fall. Granted, the summer weather seems to be lasting longer and longer these days.

In Georgia, we used to get a taste of Fall in late August but for the last several years, the cooling weather doesn't show up until late September or October before jumping right into winter weather. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year but it just keeps getting shorter and shorter.

Take note that I finally used the massive summer sleeper hit "Love Tonight" by Shouse. If you wonder why there are so many different versions of this track out there using the same refrain, it's because of this song — included here — in its original darker Indie groove form with the full vocals. The song itself has taken on a life of its own and will end up being in the Top 10 of the year's best Dance Club songs (likely the Robin Schulz version).

We have two tracks from newcomer Rosko who just happens to be my nephew. Other than he used to DJ parties in college, I'm not sure where this came from because his gig is a graphic design and advertising. I'm excited for him and look forward to hearing more about his work in the future. I might suggest he ad the album to Beatport, Traxsource, JunoDownload, and Amazon Music as well and select tracks on Kings of Spin for greater exposure. With Labor Day weekend around the corner, Summer Farewell will NOT be the final word of the season. I've already got the next T-Dance — the Sunday afternoon pleasure of our gay boys — set in the can that will drop next week. It's been quite a while since Party Favorz dropped our last chill set but I had been throwing songs into a folder for awhile now and took a peak before deciding it was time to create a new set of laidback luxury that just washes over you while keeping your worries at bay.

Sometimes, life is hectic and you just want to tune all the noise out. As an avid reader of news — all news — sets like this allow me to forget just how fucked up the world is. I've been working since early this morning on our next "ultimate" series scheduled to be staggered out between September - November that I completely forgot to post the final mix of summer.

Summer Farewell is an annual collection but could be anything from Dance Club, Disco House and in past years Chill Out. Since this isn't a normal year for music releases and it certainly isn't a normal year for life in general — Party Favorz thought it was highly appropriate to bring the temperature down several notches so we can ease into fall and pull back on our anxiety medications that the current political climate and pandemic have wrought upon us.

This set is designed to achieve that goal so you can sit back, relax, smoke a fat phone, drink a glass of wine or do whatever it is that allows you to escape the daily bullshit of our world. I'm sorry to say — after next week it's going to heat up again with daily assaults on not only our way of life but our republic.

For those of you in California — thoughts and prayers are nowhere near enough to express the deep regret I have at the way you've been ignored by the current administration. Stay strong and stay safe.

I'll be taking some time off to finish some work around our home. Since our 20 year old child Katherine passed away — I've been slowly replacing all of our furniture she destroyed over the years by just being her feline self. We've lived here since 2017 when this place was still under construction and plan on staying as long as possible. I need to finish hanging up artwork and paint a floating ledge and our patio furniture that was damaged by a flood in our garage from the unit above it. It's nothing that a fresh coat of paint won't fix.

I've pretty much got September and part of October mapped out already with some sweet releases heading your way. Everything is a bit jumbled because new club releases are not quite as bountiful as they have been in the past. So, I wait until there's enough to compile a set that meets our standards for release instead of just throwing a bunch of crap at you.

Party Favorz had re-added the Chill Out category a couple of months ago and has finally gotten around to putting out our first in hopefully what will be a long succession of Lounge/Chill/Indie sets that fit one of your many moods.

Be Free is a culmination of some of the finest in Lounge music at the moment with a tad bit of low-key House (see the fantastic "Thing Can Only Get Better" by Peyton) and others.

This set has Jazz, experimental, melodic, Indie and just a good solid mixture of mood music when you just want to sit back, unwind with your favorite beverage or smoke a fat one. I'll let you decide. It is a fantastic escape from the realities of all the bullshit we as a nation are currently going through.

THINGS ARE DIRE — PLEASE WEAR A MASK WHEN OUT IN PUBLIC

I was recently criticized by one of our longtime followers from France about my recent comments for everyone to wear a mask. I think my unique American perspective got lost on him because if you lived here — you would see all these idiots throwing a hissy fit at Costco and other places for being denied entry or service for not wearing a mask as if it's some right ingrained in our Constitution (it's not). These are private businesses who set the terms for service any way they want. After all — no one bitches about "no shoes, no shirt, no service."

No doubt these same idiots claimed that forcing people to wear their seat belts violated some imaginary Constitutional right they dreamed up and that it's some conspiracy cooked up by their favorite boogieman the "Deep State" (whatever that is) but I digress. I'll just say this is not unique to America but we do seem to have an overly-abundant amount of these nut jobs compared to other countries.

Back to the music: This set came out way better than I could have hoped for and it's my hope you folks will enjoy it as much as I did putting it together. I have no clue what I'm cooking up next but whatever it is — rest assured it will be fabulous! Until then...ENJOY!
