Party Favorz is back with some hard-hitting House Music — the kind that makes you want to get up and dance!

Lately, House Music has been crossing over into the mainstream, with the excellent Nic Fanciulli and Robert Courois track "Set Me Free" sitting atop Beatport's Top 100 and trending on many Spotify dance playlists.

However, the song that's got us all worked up at Party Favorz is the opening track, "Let's Go" by Jaden Bojsen. This track is ripe for remixes, and while I've seen some floating around, I'm not certain if they're official. I'm calling attention to this song because it channels late '80s and early '90s House Music, perfectly setting the tone for most of this set. I fully expect it to feature on our next Dance Club set (dropping soon), as I want to push it hard. In the meantime, be sure to add it to your Spotify and Apple Music playlists.

While this set sticks to our current House floor favorites, there's a good mix of Disco House and even some French House we're really into at the moment, giving it a nice balance. A personal favorite of mine is "Delicious" by Risk Assessment, which lifts the Acid House classic "Theme From S.E.X. Express," slows it down to a slinky 120 BPM, and throws in some classic Deee-lite riffs. If you know, you know. If you don’t — you’ll be into it soon enough.

This set has been on heavy rotation in my car because I can’t get enough of it. It just hits all the right notes, and I think even those who aren’t typically fans of our Funky House series will enjoy it.

It wouldn't be summer without the Party Favorz Beach House Edition, and this year's set truly captures the essence of summer vibes!

Beach House 2024 has everything for House Music lovers, including straight-up House, Disco House, Latin House, Tech House, and Afro House, all seamlessly blended into a smoothie mix perfect for pool and beach parties.

From the fabulous opening piano chords on the David Penn remix of "Our Love (80s)" by Yours to the sweat-inducing "Body Next To Mine" by Alex Adair and Bottom Up, this summer Funky House set hits all the right notes.

A personal favorite is "Post That (Shit)" by Deon Cole and Terry Hunter. This track exudes a vogue vibe, beckoning listeners to post their poses to social media while enjoying a very Salsoul Records feel. The Chicago callout reminds us that the city is the birthplace of House Music.

Mark Lower and Alexandra Prince give us a summery cocktail spin on "Paradise," a remake of the Sade classic. Tyshawn Colquitt remakes the disco classic "Spank" with DJ Spen adding a faithful garage mix, complete with horns. Armand Van Helden updates his early Millennium classic "My My My" with the uncredited Tara McDonald on vocals, creating another personal favorite. Meanwhile, Simon Fava, Yvvan Back & Cumbiafrica bring "The Heat" with their Latin Tech House track, which is currently topping many playlists.

Another standout is "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield, with the incomparable Mark Knight performing remix duties. I didn't realize that the "Superfly" guy originally sang this song. Destination took it to #1 on the Disco charts in 1979, and Knight gives the original Soul/Funk version the Disco treatment, using Mayfield's original vocals. It's absolutely uplifting!

DJ Ritmo Latino's "Ritmo Latino" is one of several Latin House songs included here that lend a salsa vibe laid over a house beat. Yvvan Back and Afterman deliver the Tech House track "Who's That Girl," which, with its Latin House delivery, belongs here more than on any Tech House set, where it's currently riding high.

Finally, two other favorites are "Ain't Got No" by KPD and David Penn. The upbeat bounce of the song contrasts with the singer's declaration that she "ain't got nobody," a weird pairing that just works. Equally, Serge Funk's "Please Don't Leave" delivers a satisfying early 70s vibe laid over a Disco House beat that, contrary to the singer's plea, makes you elated and eager to dance.

Believe it or not, I knocked out Beach House 2024 in one sitting, aiming for a carefree, open vibe to accompany the music, and it just melted together like butter! Beach House 2024 is your summer soundtrack to plain ole fun.

I'm so fucking pissed right now that I don't have it in me to write-up some fluff piece about this set or Volume 2.

For those who ignored what I wrote in our Gay Pride Edition 2024, the pieces are falling into place. Unless you've been living under a rock, SCOTUS has just made homelessness illegal, legalized obstructing Congress in counting electoral votes to confirm a President, sanctioned bribery for politicians and judges, and dismantled federal agencies overseeing our environment, food safety, consumer rights, and LGBTQ+ protections. In doing so, they've seized decision-making power from career federal experts, overriding the Chevron Doctrine that traditionally deferred to their expertise.

After dragging their feet on whether former President Trump has total presidential immunity for absconding with Top Secret classified information back to Mar-a-Lago — something several people are currently in jail for while awaiting trial — on Monday, SCOTUS will hand down their decision. It's likely to be narrowly tailored, aimed solely at Trump, to avoid granting President Biden any special powers. This case highlights a crucial argument against presidential immunity: presidents are not kings. Granting them immunity from legal consequences undermines accountability and equality under the law, principles foundational to Constitutional Republic.

This is just the beginning. If you haven't read up on Project 2025, wake up. It's already underway. All they need is for you to stay home, not vote, and let MAGA control all branches of government.

Ready to lose yourself in the heat? This episode features several peak-hour heavy-hitters. DJ Minx's "Don't Do It To Me," Earth n Days' and "The Kinda Love" (CASSIMM remix) are floor-scorchers. "NRG" by Many Few, which holds true to its namesake featuring what sounds like a sample of Loleatta Holloway but don't hold us to that — is pure FIRE!

Disco Heat

Funky House Heat doesn't forget its Disco roots. Dr Packer and Purple Disco Machine, two legendary names, bring the heat, while Sofi Tukker's "One On One" (a personal favorite) gets a remix treatment from the 70s Disco master, Cerrone.

Throwbacks with a Message

We love a good throwback, and this episode features two gems. Kyle Watson's modern take on the Funk classic "Low Rider" by War is a surprising hit, paying homage to Chicano culture while keeping dance floors moving. After a very long wait, Party Favorz is finally back in business with a brand-spanking new booty-slapping Funky Disco House episode to properly kick off our grand reopening.

"YoYo Dissco" features all the latest Funky House, Disco House, and House Music songs that have been buzzing in our ears for the past couple of months. If you're a fan of this series (and it seems a lot of you are, judging by the numbers over the past year), everything will sound familiar with a fresh sense of newness throughout the mix.

This set kicks off with some Gospel Disco by the always fabulous Barbara Tucker, who we haven't heard from in a while and delivers a hopeful track for these trying times. From there, you'll journey through the dance floor with an endless array of roof-raisers, funky throwbacks, and mashups of perennial favorites, creating entirely new songs.

Navigating Through Time: A Reflection on Party Favorz's Journey and Musical Milestones

Party Favorz is now in its 17th year, and it's remarkable to think we've been around for four presidencies, witnessing massive changes in technology and entertainment consumption. We were leading the charge in this arena before podcasts became ubiquitous, and while many have fallen by the wayside, we're still here delivering the dancefloor directly to you.

Towards the end of this mix, you'll notice a song called "The Cure & The Cause" by Fish Go Deep and Tracey K. Idris Elba took the song in a very 90s straight House Music direction. At the time of its original release, it was all about the DJ Meme remix, which added live strings in the vein of the Solsoul Records era. It was a massive hit back in 2007, the same year Party Favorz was born on the internet. It's interesting to note that it was also released during a presidential year, similar to the current time. While nothing will ever top the DJ Meme remix, this new rendition brought back a lot of fond memories from our early days. Illyus and Barrientos, known for their versatility, team up with Phebe Edwards on "Wait", a track that's pure gold. Party Favorz is hitting the airwaves again with Volume 2 of our Fall Throwback series, loaded with remixed songs from the 80s. Sure, we've sprinkled in a few gems from the late 70s, but the spotlight is mainly on the 80s. Let's jump into it.

Opening with a Bang: "Driver's Seat"

Kicking off the set is "Driver's Seat," a 1979 classic from Sniff 'n' the Tears. Block & Crown bring it to 2021 with their House remix. It's a tune that has graced numerous commercials and TV shows. Although it peaked at only #15 on the U.S. charts, many of this remember this earworm fondly.

Unexpected Remixes: "Sultans of Swing"

One delightful surprise here is Block & Crown's fresh take on Dire Straits' 1979 mega-hit "Sultans of Swing." They titled their version "Swingin Sultan," and it's a beauty. This remix stays loyal to the original while adding a modern twist, making it a perfect throwback.

Rock Classics Reimagined

Speaking of rock, we've got more. The Knack's 1979 hit "My Sharona" gets a Funky House twist, thanks to Grooveband and Ghostmasters. Block & Crown also rework Ram Jam's rock staple "Black Betty," ensuring that these remixed songs from the 80s and late 70s keep the dance floor buzzing.

Disco Gurls on Tina Turner's "The Best"

Disco Gurls dazzle us with their modernization of Tina Turner's anthem "The Best." Titled "U're Simply The Best," it preserves the original's spirit while injecting it with a new groove. If only this had been available for our Tina Tribute set.

A Smorgasbord of Modern Takes on 80s Classics

For those craving more, we've got a plethora of modern remixes your 80s-loving heart will adore. From "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash to "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, we've covered it all. Others like "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head and "Your Love" by The Outfield get their much-deserved spotlight.

Authenticity Matters

Although about half of these tracks feature the original vocals, the rest utilize talented soundalike artists. But don't let that sway you! These remixed songs from the 80s and a few from the late 70s offer a fresh, nostalgic journey worth taking. A couple of mashups even make an appearance, adding extra flavor.

We're amped to announce that Party Favorz is rolling out not one, but two volumes of our Throwback series. This isn't your usual fare. We're talking about songs that evoke nostalgia, remixed by familiar names like Block & Crown and GhostMasters. Interestingly, these creators are mixing it up—literally. They're giving a fresh beat to songs that you probably never thought would belong in the Dance, Disco, or House categories.

In fact, our buddy DJ Freddy Greene started paving this route a while back. Remember his Disco and '80s Dance edits? He was all about those DJ-friendly versions. However, he also began adding beats to pop songs, and I must admit, it left me a bit puzzled.

Hits and Misses: A Mixed Bag of Remixes

Now that others are jumping on this trend, the results are, let's say, a mixed bag. Take Heart's iconic Rock ballad "Alone." Now picture it with a House beat. Sounds odd? That's because it is, and even we're curious to see how you'll react to these new mixes.

You'll notice the first volume spreads its influences across several decades but leans heavily towards the '80s. Volume 2? It's almost exclusively an '80s fiesta, with a sprinkling of late-'70s tracks to keep you guessing. There are definitely some throwback songs that will not only surprise you but knock you off your feet.

Keeping Up With the Prolific Output of Dance Edits

Just try to keep pace; these artists are pushing out songs faster than you can say "remix." All the selections in these volumes have been amassed since our Summer Throwback in June. There's enough material for a third volume, but we're saving those gems for a spring release
