Funky House, Fall 2023 — this Good Life mix collects soulful and NuDisco-leaning house cuts curated for late-summer dance floors and long drives. Party Favorz blends vintage and modern flavors, opening with Birdee & Dr Packer’s sultry “You Know I’m Ready” before dropping an extended take on Inner City’s classic “Good Life” to bridge eras of house music.

This is a Funky House set — Solid Gold Disco (2022) — built to keep a floor moving with soulful hooks, nu‑disco shimmer, and DJ‑friendly extended mixes. The three‑plus hour collection collects classic-leaning house and contemporary funk to sustain steady momentum from start to finish.

Highlights include The UK Shapeshifters’ extended take on “Slippery People,” LF SYSTEM’s hungry grooves, and Birdee’s remix work plus his original “Gotta Keep On,” all of which balance retro funk and modern production. Dr Packer appears twice with a buoyant extended mix of Staxx’s “Joy” and a roomy remix of Yolanda Wyns that foregrounds vocal power over a shuffling beat.

Tensnake’s “Coma Cat” rework by Purple Disco Machine and the closing uplift of Patrick Wayne & DJ ThreeJay’s “Keep It Movin” bookend a set focused on memorable hooks, dancefloor-ready arrangements, and extended edits that DJs and listeners can sink into for hours.

Funky House, 2022 — a party-ready mix built to keep you moving. Keep On Dancing leans into Funky House while weaving NuDisco, Soulful, Jackin’ and Deep House textures across a roughly two-hour set meant for the dance floor or a late-afternoon drink.

Highlights include a fresh Wh0 Extended take on Todd Terry’s “Jumpin’,” Babert’s Italo Extended remix of Mattei & Omich feat. Mvttie’s “All I Know,” and Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode’s revival of Kano’s “It’s A War.” The mix balances modern originals like Disco Feelings’ “Young Lady” with producer-forward extended mixes — listen for David Penn’s groove-driven edit alongside selections from Mark Knight, Armand Van Helden, and Michael Gray that keep momentum without losing the soulful hooks.

House music mix — Beach House 2022 — collects the season’s most played, club-ready cuts for a summer set that moves between Disco-House, Deep House, and jackin’ grooves. This annual Beach House edition surveys early 2022’s biggest house moments and the tracks that kept the dancefloor moving even as mainstream headlines tried to rewrite the genre’s history.

Expect current hits and defining remixes including LF System’s “Afraid To Feel,” Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” as heard in the Dirty Disco Mainroom remix, plus UK-led influence from Ewan McVicar. The mix also digs into established and renewed floor-fillers from Claptone, Basement Jaxx, and Sonny Fodera, sequencing heavier house openers into sun-soaked disco and deeper late-set stretches. Notes in the mix call out how modern credits sometimes nod to 90s remix traditions rather than direct lineage, but the selection focuses on what actually works on the dancefloor this summer.

Eager to ignite a wave of nostalgia, I initially aimed to debut a Block & Crown (Adri Blok) Legacy mix in November as an ode to old school music. However, as time grew short, I had to place this project on hold. With the 4th of July holiday weekend upon us, I found the perfect opportunity to delve into my vast archive of classic mashups and bootlegs, fusing them into an unforgettable 'Summer Throwback Dance Party'.

Their tunes have sporadically surfaced on Dance Club, Peak Hour, and Disco House compilations over the years, and acted as a treat for the discerning ear. What binds these tracks together is their shared love for the pulsating rhythm of dance music in all its vibrant forms. You'll discover old melodies reimagined, classic disco or 80s dance tracks seamlessly blended with iconic 90s Hip Hop. The vocals often echo the original artists, though sometimes they introduce a new voice that closely mirrors the original vocalist. While the titles may not instantly ring a bell, the moment you hear them, you'll find yourself saying, "Wait a minute, I know that tune!"

While Block & Crown have owned this Funky House Music space for a while, others, including Richard Grey, Softmal, Nari, Lissat, and more, have also carved out their space in the throwback dance party landscape. More recently, Ghostmasters, The Soul Gang, Ghostbusterz, and Disco Gurls have made a noticeable impact. I suspect Nacho Chapado & Ivan Gomez are the creators behind these aliases, sharing these remixed gems via their Guareber Recordings brand. Their focus primarily lies in the realm of 80s dance, with occasional explorations into different eras.

In tune with the early summer season, I've curated a playlist of dance classics that are the heartbeat of the 'Summer Throwback Dance Party' - the perfect backdrop for BBQs, family outings, or lazy afternoons by the pool. Spanning from the 60s to now, with a few fresh current songs with a retro feel peppered in, this compilation perfectly captures the essence of old school music. Some are straightforward reimagined classics tailored for today's dance floor, much like our 'Thank God It's Disco' series, but with a broader chronological canvas.

Regrettably, some tracks couldn't be included due to their abrupt endings, which posed a challenge for a continuous mix set. Despite this, the 'Summer Throwback Dance Party' has been my constant companion for the past week, promising a timeless party vibe for all.

If you're seeking an escape, this set is your ticket to a temporary paradise. It's a veritable sonic feast!

Keep an eye out for the forthcoming Beach House series - all the tracks are compiled and ready to launch next week.
