This week, Brian, John, and Elaine are traveling to the singular bright spot in the eternally dismal and brown filtered ridiculousness that is the DC Extended Universe of films. We are of course talking about the warrior princess herself, Wonder Woman! We try to answer some of the burning questions of the film such as will Dr. Maru start a youtube makeup vlog and how many times can you fit a slow mo fight scene in a minute? In all seriousness, we are looking at the nitty gritty elements of this surprisingly refreshing film in a genre that is overpacked and at times can be stale.
This week, Brian, John and Elaine tackle one of the biggest film subjects of our time, Hollywood's comic book obsession. Yes, we are going after the big kahuna of pop culture and outlining how these movies came into existence with Superman and Batman, their fall during the 90's, and then subsequent rise with Xmen and the birth of the Marvel MCU. So grab your capes and cowls as we dive into the world of comic book movies.
This week, Brian, John, and Elaine enter the dark and macabre world of the mind of one of Hollywood's most macabre and eccentric filmmakers; Tim Burton. A controversial filmmaker, We will take a look at his filmography and explore how his career has changed over the years and try to answer the question of how a prolific filmmaker like Tim Burton can go from the heights of visual storytelling with Edward Scissorhands to the low end with flops like Dark Shadows and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
This week, Brian, John, and Laine are joined by award winning filmmaker, educator, and some time chocolatier, PJ Gaynard of Goat Milk Fudge Productions. They tackle the quintessential classic of cinematic schlock; the 1990 Frank Henenlotter classic, Frankenhooker. Yes, Frankenhooker, the movie Bill Murray himself said, "If you see one movie this year, it should be Frankenhooker." We try to analyze this b movie gem and find answers to some of the movie's biggest questions; such as why is there no blood when you drill into your head. And of course, where is Jeffery Franken's "Johnson"? So strap in for a meeting of the minds as we dive into the purple goo that is Frankenhooker.
This week, John and Elaine make their triumphant return to the podcast from the depths of their Disney trip. They have brought their friend and local expert of nerdery, Kevin Finch, to help us review the cosmic awesomeness that is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
