We give you the lowdown on a great documentary film, CLASS ACTION PARK, directed by Seth Porges that focuses on the scariest and most dangerous theme park that ever was. Action Park was definitely a fond and nostalgic memory for lots of teenagers, despite the high risk for personal injury and in some cases, death. It was the kind of place that parents would not have allowed their kids to go if they’d known more about it - or even if they’d know how crooked the owner was. The kind of place that simply would not exist in the present day. A crazy, free-for-all wild-west, no rules theme park with water slides and flume rides and all manner of mayhem that seemed to have been designed by an 8th grader on notebook paper. The film is funny, it makes you cringe, and it also brings the very real tragedies into focus. Highly recommended by the Cinemondo team for the fantastic 80s and 90s nostalgia.

The Cinemondo Grups beam down to an exact duplicate of planet earth and confront the last remaining citizens… a gang of unruly kids. Miri is a classic Trek episode with the usual high standards of production, writing and casting and in this one we’re treated to the quirky stylings of the great Kim Darby and Michael J. Pollard who create struggles for the crew of the Enterprise as they try to find a cure for a deadly disease and a stressful countdown situation that forces McCoy and Spock to work nice together to save what’s left of this Earth 2… Will they find a cure in time? Do our heroes succeed or fail? Is this really the last episode of Star Trek?! No spoilers, but FYI, this is not the last episode of Star Trek. Join Kathy, Mark and Burk for a discussion of this fun and somewhat strange episode of Classic Trek!

Kathy, Mark and Burk take a look at Mike Flanagan’s new “Haunting” series. The follow-up to THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. This time we’re in the 80s, and it’s Bly Manor that’s being beset by spectral shenanigans. THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR is a sort of old-school haunted house series that starts off like a standard nanny being tasked with caring for a couple of somewhat sketchy children in a big, dark old house… but it goes from there into some interesting territories and introduces us to the various issues and struggles and torments that can manifest the emotional states that supernatural beings seem to really love. It’s a slow burn, but stick with it, because once it gets rolling, it’s really a great choice for a binge around this time of year. This one really has the Halloween spirit and some scares and surprises and twists. Listen in and see what our theories are.

The Cinemondo gang of androids explores the episode What are Little Girls Made Of? and the maze like underground caverns on Exo 3. Nurse Chapel is pining for her old fiancé, Doctor Roger Korby, the noted scientists who’s been delving into alien technology on a frozen planet. This episode has a classic alien being named Run, played by the mighty Ted Cassidy, and some questions about the meaning of life and artificial intelligence. It’s a fun one with some great characters and twists, and some memorable Star Trek costuming. Who can you trust when someone you know is turned into a fully functioning robot? How do you spot the impostor?

The Cinemondo ghouls take their annual trip down Scary Street looking for candy and genuine scares. We found a list online that presumes to scientifically lay out a list of “Scariest Horror Films” of all time, and we used our own scientific methods to determine the validity of the research…
Sure, horror movies are fun, but what does SCIENCE say about it? Can it be scientifically proven with serious research which movies are the most terrifying? Is it a good measuring factor to just add up which movies pump up your heart rate the most? Or which ones elevate your various psychological responses with a solid sense of dread or which ones take the cheap way out and just hit you over the head with Jump Scare? There’s some good ones on there, for sure, but what do the experts at Cinemondo think? How does the research line up with our opinions? Check it out, and you’re almost guaranteed to find something that’s scientifically proven to be creepy to watch this Halloween.

The Cinemondo Red Shirts explore the somewhat troubling episode MUDD’S WOMEN, where we get a taste of how much television could get away with in the 60s, without actually coming right out and openly saying it’s about prostitution and drug addiction. Offset by the lovable pimp known as Harry Mudd, in the first of his two appearances on the series. We get into the details of this one, and it’s not always pretty. In fact you’d need a double dose of the Venus Drug to make this episode pretty. It’s got its moments, but is the moral of the story lost? Is there a moral to the story? Is being stunningly beautiful really all it’s cracked up to be?
Written by Stephen Kandel, based on a story by Gene Roddenberry, and directed by Harvey Hart.

The Cinemondo androids scan and examine the HBO series RAISED BY WOLVES, executive produced (and first two episodes directed by) Ridley Scott. Created by Aaron Guzikowski and starring Vikings' Travis Fimmel, Amanda Collin as the enigmatic Mother, and Abubakar Salim as Father, a pair of child-rearing androids on a distant planet doing the best they can to raise the future of mankind, but their Garden of Eden is flipped upside down when things start going wrong and another spacecraft shows up to threaten their programming. It’s a hard-sci-fi series that gives you the time to feel the environment and to experience the epic scope of the story. Intelligently written with a fantastic cast and some brilliant production design, this series touches on some controversy and takes you into unexpected territories on a faraway planet. We watched all 10 episodes, but we don’t spoil the finale, so you can listen if you haven’t finished the first season.

The United Federation of Cinemondo welcomes special guest, intergalactically beloved artist Mark Maddox. We team up to explore duality and split personalities, or is that redundant? Did you ever have to deal with a rampaging copy of yourself that only had your worst qualities? Me too, and it’s no fun! Check out how Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise handle a double-inducing transporter mishap. Kirk’s good side and his bad side are at sometimes violent odds with each other, acting out their worst traits and impulses and struggling to get back together again. And check out the Alien dog!
The Enemy Within was written by Richard Matheson and directed by Leo Penn.

The Cinemondo gang takes a look at the upcoming Shout! Studios film MISBEHAVIOUR directed by Philippa Lowthorpe and starring Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley and Greg Kinnear as Bob Hope. Yes, Bob Hope. It’s a drama with some elements of comedy based on the true story of the early days of the Women’s Liberation movement and their disruption of the 1970 Miss World beauty pageant in the UK. It’s a fun movie about a serious topic that makes some very strong points and will certainly start some good conversations. It’s not the standard Cinemondo type of film, but we certainly recommend it. Inspiring fun for the whole family.
