Clive started off the week by taking a look at the Rail Strikes that gripped the nation last week and asked if members of the Construction Industry were affected. With Airlines set to strike throughout the summer, is there a possibility that our industry might strike? He put this question to Andy Prendergast, National Secretary for the GMB union, and friends of the show and tradespeople Danny Madden and Kye Belmont.
Clive then focused on if Career Switchers are the answer to labor shortage? A quarter of a million workers are needed to fill the void that will be left by 2026. 28% of Brits that work or used to work in the corporate sector/professional services agreed they are considering or have already kicked off a career in the trades. So is this the answer?
Jackie Ducker Exec Director of Customer & Product at CITB, Joe Doyle - Business Mentor for tradespeople and Electrician, Nick Bundy gave their thoughts on this.
Then he took a look at the question if stereotypes are still running rampant in the industry. This was in conjunction with an article in the Daily Mail saying that builders had gone Woke ! Clive spoke to Bill Hill, CEO of the Construction Industry Charity The Lighthouse Club, Irish Builder and TV Presenter Peter Finn and Former Tradesperson now Business and Life Coach Wayne Bettess all about this.
And to finish off proceedings, in conjunction with International Joke day being on the 1st of July, he discussed the best jokes people have heard. We had help with this from Comedians Mike Mclean and Dave Chawner, Sparky Adam Pavey and you the listener.
