The term "culture war" is used rhetorically, but it's accurate. In war, the object is to neutralize an enemy's capacity to act against you. That's what the transgressive Left has done for decades. They decided they would not tolerate those who disagree, and they haven't.
Meanwhile, normal people have been parlaying for peace, ceding ground, falling back, yielding to demands, all in the hope of finally appeasing the weirdos to establish a ceasefire. But it never ends.
If we mean "culture war," then we need to act as though we're truly in one. We need to play for keeps, take ground, neutralize our opponents' offensive capacity, and push forward to ultimate victory.
Victory means control of the institutions. It means an institutional rejection of the false, the untrue, the immoral, and the perverse. It means telling people that they're wrong and rewarding them with nothing. It means laughing at absurdity and ensuring lasting consequence for those espousing it unrepentantly. It means lifting up those willing to speak truth, ganging up on bullies to expose their cowardice, and rallying to the defense of normal people saying normal things when they're attacked by ghouls.
Victory is not polling. Victory is not a focus group. Victory is not messaging. Victory is not careful and unoffensive.
Have the transgressive Left worried for even one second about offending you? Have they bounced their ideas off a consultant? Are they polling to see whether it's popular for a bearded drag queen to straddle a stanchion and tread upon the North Star in our capitol rotunda? No. They're not asking. They're taking. They're advancing. They're marching. They're conquering.
And you're letting them.
We didn't get from 2008, when the Democrat nominee for president campaigned on traditional marriage, to our current situation because the Left paused to consider what's popular. They didn't care. They proceeded with a perverse but intense sense of moral conviction, and they refused to take no for an answer.
Nothing less than an equal and opposite force will defeat them. The only question is: will we rise to the moment?
