On the night of November 9, 1984, 31-year-old yoga instructor and waitress Lesley Patricia Larkin was discovered in her Noosa Heads unit—naked and gravely injured, lying across a mattress in her bedroom. Her neighbourhood, once a haven of innocence, turned into a crime scene that would remain unsolved for decades.
Despite over 150 interviews—including with her ex-partner, neighbours, and colleagues—no clear motive emerged: nothing was stolen, there was no sign of sexual assault, and there appeared to be no forced entry.

In May 2020, 58-year-old Colleen Rebelo was found dead under the shower in her Bicton, WA home. At first, her passing was thought to be natural—but within days, alarm bells rang when her son, Andre Rebelo, attempted to claim multiple newly-taken-out life insurance policies in her name. The cryptocurrency trader and partner of influencer Gracie Piscopo was drowning in debt, yet carefully curating a glamorous online image. Investigators soon uncovered forged documents, suspicious injuries, and a trail of deception pointing directly to him.
During his 2024 trial, prosecutors painted Andre as a son who killed his own mother for financial gain, staging her death to look natural while plotting to collect a million-dollar payout. Evidence included falsified coroner’s reports, forged wills, and even impersonated medical professionals, all part of an elaborate attempt to cover his tracks. After weeks of testimony and nearly two days of jury deliberation, Andre was found guilty of murder.

In June 2006, 24-year-old Auburn University graduate Lori Ann Slesinski vanished after making plans for a simple girls’ night. When she never showed up, her family grew concerned, and just days later, her car was discovered torched in a secluded cul-de-sac outside Auburn. Inside her home, investigators found disturbing signs of a struggle—yet Lori herself was nowhere to be found. Despite an exhaustive search, her body has never been recovered.
Years later, attention turned to a close friend, Rick Ennis, a man with a violent past. Advances in forensic testing linked him to Lori’s disappearance, and in 2022, Ennis was finally convicted of her murder—16 years after she went missing.

From the 3rd to the 9th August 2025, National Missing Persons Week (NMPW) is observed across Australia. Now in its annual tradition, the week serves as a reminder that disappearances affect people from all walks of life. Community awareness is heightened through events, media features, and memorials like the “Missing Persons Family & Friends Walk.” The campaign encourages the public to renew efforts in sharing information, supporting affected families, and keeping unresolved cases—like those of Linda Grimstone and Richard Hadwick—in public consciousnes
Linda Anne Grimstone vanished on 4 September 2000 after dropping her two children at Croydon Hills Primary School. Later that day, she purchased petrol at Wesburn, and was seen around 3:50 pm in the Powers Lookout car park, about 270 km north-east of Melbourne. Her vehicle was found the following morning
abandoned in bushland nearby.
Richard Hadwick, aged 21, disappeared on 19 May 1990—his own birthday. Last seen at home in Belgrave South at about 12:30 am, he changed clothes for a planned trip to Foster’s Disco in Dandenong and left in a waiting taxi, with little money and no belongings. He never arrived at work again, and concerns grew after he was bailed on burglary charges and reportedly feared imprisonment. He has not been seen since

On February 24, 2023, in an upscale Herndon, Fairfax County, Virginia neighborhood, 37‑year‑old pediatric nurse Christine Banfield was found stabbed to death inside her own home. Nearby lay the body of Joseph “Joe” Ryan, 39, fatally shot. The Banfields’ live‑in au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, reported the scene via a cryptic 911 call: “A friend of hers was hurt.” Christine later died at the hospital.
Initially described by authorities as a scenario of self‑defense against an alleged intruder who had stabbed Christine, the case quickly took a darker turn. Investigators discovered Christine was the victim of a meticulously planned double homicide.

In this episode, we dive into one of Australia's most haunting outback mysteries — the disappearance of British backpacker Peter Falconio. In July 2001, Peter and his girlfriend, Joanne Lees, were traveling through the remote Northern Territory when a terrifying roadside encounter changed everything. Joanne survived to tell the tale — claiming they were ambushed by a stranger on the highway — but Peter was never seen again.
As investigators pieced together the bizarre circumstances, suspicion, media frenzy, and international attention followed. It would take years before someone was brought to justice — but even then, Peter’s body was never found.

In October 2012, 29-year-old Kentucky attorney Ryan Poston was shot six times by his on-again, off-again girlfriend, 21-year-old Shayna Hubers. What she claimed was self-defense quickly unraveled into a chilling story of obsession, jealousy, and a toxic relationship spiraling out of control.
Just hours before the shooting, Ryan had planned to go on a date with Miss Ohio USA. Instead, he found himself face-to-face with Shayna—who, after shooting him, calmly called 911 and told police she “gave him the nose job he always wanted.” Her bizarre behavior during the interrogation, including singing and laughing, raised red flags and painted a disturbing picture of her mental state.
Despite her claims of abuse and fear, investigators found no evidence supporting self-defense. Shayna was convicted twice—first in 2015, and again in 2018 after a retrial—ultimately receiving a life sentence with the possibility of parole.
