Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes joins Jimmy Dykes and Chris Burke on this episode of the Coach Me Up Podcast. Coach Barnes is beginning his 8th year as coach of the Volunteers, and last season led his team to the NCAA tournament after winning the 2022 SEC tournament title.He was selected as the Naismith National Coach of the year in 2019 after leading Tennessee to a number 1 ranking during the regular season.

Prior to his stint at Tennessee, Barnes was the head coach at George Mason, Providence College, Clemson, and the University of Texas, where he led the Longhorns to 16 NCAA tournaments in 17 years.

Coach Barnes brings a powerful message and transparency to his personal walk with Jesus in this episode. His story about being confronted by his daughter and son regarding who he was as a husband, dad, and follower of Jesus is authentic, real, and life changing.

On this episode of the Coach Me Up Podcast, Jimmy and Chris spend time talking with Todd Blackledge from ESPN. Todd was the #7 overall pick in the 1983 draft after leading Penn State to a National Championship, and now is one of ESPN's top college football analyst.

They take a quick look at the 2022 college football, get into an eye opening discussion about the importance we can place on youth sports if we are not careful, what is our true identity built on, and how anything we place as a priority above God in our life will ultimately fail us and let us down.

Todd tells a great story about being a 22 year old rookie in the NFL and how God called him to take a deep dive into the study of Ecclesiastes and hoe Solomon chased everything the world had to offer...and it all came up empty. It is a great reminder to all of us about how only God can fulfill our deepest desires in this life. We are reminded that anytime we take something good in our life and make it the "ultimate " thing in our life, we are missing the mark that God has called us to.

The guys wrap it up touching on how life requires us to fight at times as a believer. Life is going to have rough stretches, and we should not be surprised when we have to fight for our faith, our families, and our way.

Jimmy and Chris take a few minutes at the end to wrap up what they were" Coached Up" on by Todd Blackledge. Chris gives a great example of fight and toughness through a statement made by NFL super star Tom Brady.

David Pollack has a major presence on ESPN during the college football season as an analyst on their massively popular "College GameDay" show every Saturday morning during the football season.Pollack also contributes to ESPN's College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings show, College Football Live, SportsCenter, and College Football Playoff coverage.  

David was a 3 time All-American football player, starring as a defensive end at the University of Georgia. David was selected 17th overall in the 2005 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. His NFL was cut short by a neck injury in his 2nd season.
